About Amanda Zolla
My name is Amanda and I have had the pleasure of caring for a lovely woman named Sarah who was injured in a terrible car accident a few years ago. She and her husband John, the owners, built and lived in this beautiful house since 2009. They have recently made the decision to move to San Antonio, TX, to trade in CT winters for a warmer year round climate. Although they are too far away now for me to continue to aide in Sarah's care, I am excited and happy for the opportunity to care for and welcome people into this home built for making memories. Here are a few words from John and Sarah about their home: The house is 8 years old and incorporates all of the energy efficiencies possible at the time it was built; active and passive solar, radiant heat, instant hot water, eight zone heating and air-conditioning control. In addition we installed hardwood or tile floors to minimize allergens. We consciously chose Highland Lake for its pristine water quality, excellent fishing and proximity to world famous arts/culture and year round recreational sport venues. We moved to Texas this fall so this will be the first time we rented the house. We hope you and your families will enjoy this wonderful place as much as we have.

Great Lake Vacation
First, I want to say that the property manager ( Amanda ) is great. She is super responsive and does a great job caring for this property. The house is large with 5 bedroom, 3.5 baths and 4 showers if you include the outdoor shower. It has a game / bonus room on the lower level with additional sleeping. The house has a large dining room table which is great for large families / groups. The house is clean, comfy and the views of the lake from the entire main level is amazing. This is a great place for rest and relaxation. Additionally, we rented paddle boards for the week from Munk Morsel! They were great and delivered the boards right to the house. Call Scott! We would highly recommend this house and Munk Morsel. This was our 2nd trip to this house and we will be back next year.
Annual family gathering
Our family had a fabulous week at Highland Lake and the weather was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed sailing, boating and tubing, going to the beach, swimming, playing in the sand, grilling, s’mores at the fire pit, hot tub time and wonderful dinners prepared by my family in the beautiful and well equipped kitchen which was the hub for the family to gather.
All ages enjoyed this beautiful home with all the amenities you need. Awesome accommodations for Grandchildren as well (crib, toddler bed, bassinet, pool table, ping pong, legos, beach and water toys)
Highland lake is beautiful with clean water and police patrol the lake to keep everyone safe and enforce the rules of boating.
Amanda , the property manager , thought of everything to make our stay comfortable, fun and we are anxious to return another year. She is easily accessible and will be right there if you need her or to just answer a question. Since we were there last year she followed through on anything we asked of her.
Thank you Amanda for helping us create memories the family will cherish. ( one of our grandchildren made a breakthrough and actually went in the water waist deep!!!!!!). Barbara
We were so incredibly fortunate to be able to stay at this beautiful property for a 5-day visit “home” to Connecticut. Growing up with family in Winsted and summers spent on the Lake, I wanted to find the perfect place for me, my cousins’ and sister’s families to stay while we were in town for a larger family celebration and reunion. We knew that we needed a place that would comfortably sleep our group of 8 adults, 2 teenagers and 3 small children after long flights from TN, CO and UT, but we had all hoped to find a place that would also give us the chance to host meals and other fun with our local family, as maximizing quality time was a topmost priority for this trip. I can honestly say that we picked the perfect rental and received the best service and attentive support from Amanda throughout the planning process. There is nothing that fell short of amazing in either the property or the process and everyone in the group had a fantastic vacation as a result. Not only did everyone have a space for sleep and quiet relaxation, but the layout of the common areas, the home’s countless amenities and perfect lakefront location made it a perfect gathering place for brunches, dinners, and family game nights. To say that we hit the jackpot on the entire rental experience would be an understatement. We haven’t been home for 24 hours and the whole group is already discussing plans to visit again… crossing our fingers to have the chance to stay at this amazing property again! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!!
House on Highland Lake
This property was perfect for our family reunion nearby. There was plenty of room (5 Bedrooms) plus an excellent kitchen & family area for entertaining. with a long dining room table. There is also a wonderful view of the lake nearby. We also enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub every day. The only drawback was it's close to a busy local road and we heard some traffic while we were out on the deck. We would definitely stay here again!
Guys away weekend
