This property is very family friendly, secure and private. We are situated ideally to travel to the beaches, also to explore places like Cognac, Saintes, Jonzac all within 20 to 30 minute drive. The airports of Bordeaux and La Rochelle are only an hour away, Saint Palais de Phiolin is still a traditional french village unspoilt surrounded by sun flower fields and vine yards.
This is a truly beautiful house in a stunning part of the french countryside. Exceptionally clean, tidy, and bright. The owners were wonderful and exceptionally helpful in all aspects, they couldnt do enough to help in any way, and impeccable hosts in every manner. The pool has the Wow factor, and is surrounded by stunning fields of vines and sunflowers. Swimming goes on late into the night, and the whole pool area just looks gorgeous lit up at night with the lights on. The kids loved it and begged to go back again. The nicest place we have ever been with some of the best hosts we have ever met. Can whole heartedly recommend this to anybody, and feel sure that just everybody would fall in love with the place and the hosts. And we will definitely be going back again for sure. 5 star all the way. Beautiful. Booking again for this year.
My family (2 adults, 2 older children) have visited this area several times over the last 10 years - in fact this is the second time we have used this house, which is a recommendation in itself. The house is in a quiet village with good access to the Autoroute for visiting futher away locations at well as Pons, Saintes, Cognac and Angouleme plus Royan and the Gironde coast. The house itself is spacious, well laid out with all amenities including two outdoor seating areas and ample off road space for car parking. The swimming pool is in a stunning setting overlooking fields, but is very private. The owners, Stuart, Linda and family are in the adjoining property and could not have been more helpful, without being obtrusive.
I honestly cannot think of one thing that would have improved our three week stay and would recommend it without hesitation.
We stayed here in Summer 2007 and what else can I say. The property is spotlessly clean, perfect location so close to the sea, only a very short drive away, and set amidst the most amazing breathtakingly beautiful open countryside. The village of Saint Palais De Phiolin itself is stunning. It has the prettiest little church, definitely worth a look inside, and lots of activities going on in and around the area. The weather was faultless. Hot sunshine every day, and the facilities at the house were just perfect for our family of four, (parents and two children aged 16 and 10) in every way. The proprietors of the house lived next door during our stay, and they were the best hosts we have ever met on our many stays in various properties throughout France. Lovely lovely english people who moved to France several years ago, and hence seem to know a vast amount of information about the local area, (very useful), and nothing was too much trouble at all. Extremely helpful, friendly and I can wholeheartedly recommend both their properties for rental. We saw the inside of the property next door that they also rent out and it was beautiful too. Typically french and full of character. There is so much to do in the area that we never had the chance to be bored at all. The huge swimming pool in the huge garden at the back of the house with amazing views across open countryside is just amazing and we had many late evenings being entertained by the owners and their friends till the early hours over the most gorgeous local pineau wine/brandy. Overall an exceptionally friendly place, beautifully laid out and we will most definitely be going back again this year. It was blissfully perfect. Theres nothing else I can add really.
Having stayed at many properties in France over the last 20 years this is one of, if not the best, we have stayed in, the property is everything we needed, well presented and well thought out, everything was sparkling clean and in very good order. The new pool is absolutely wonderful and we have fond memories of swimming at way past midnight with the pool lights on after a few sherberts. The location is superb, close enough to main roads to go to all the nearby attractions of which there are many, but not so close that you are disturbed by traffic.
Then finally the owners....... not only really welcoming, but always willing to help out (including a late evening hospital run!)
Summary, well we have re-booked for next year already, and I am fussy! a good family house, really nice area, and a superb host family!
Just dont let them get you on the "loopy juice"!
