We had a wonderful time secluded away. The Property was clean and well stocked. We didn’t leave the house (except for the hot tub) on our peaceful trip away from it all. The Star filled sky was definitely one of the highlights. Would love to go back again.
I can’t give this place enough stars! The location was better than imagined. The perfect place to relax and get away! Views were impeccable!!
Hi Taylor - so glad you loved the home and location! It truly is a magical spot and we are happy you were able to get away. Hope you have an opportunity to come back and visit again soon!
A Magical Place
Absolutely majestic, surreal beauty. Photos don't do this place justice.
Thank you, Owen! Hope to welcome you guys back again soon! Carolyn
Lake Mesa House was super clean and exactly as advertised down to the gorgeous sunsets and sunrises! We would definitely stay here again!
Thanks, Nicole! Love those sunrises and sunsets! Hope to welcome you back again. Carolyn
Striking, Serene and Beautiful
We recently spent about a week at the Abiquiu Mesa Lake house east of Abiquiu and above Abiquiu Lake. Quite simply, it was one of the most serene getaways we have experienced in recent times. The house is perfect for the location with views of the famous Pedernal to the south and the beautiful red-tinged cliffs across the Lake and valley to the north. The vast nightscape was remarkable with the Milky Way unobscured by any unwelcome light sources. Each morning view was different, whether a vast fog slowly creeping down the Chama River into the Lake or the sun slowly illuminating the distant high ridges of the Pederal or the vast colorful cliffs opposite. Then, there are the hikes exploring the nearby hills and valleys or, further away, O’Keefe’s “White Place” landscape, almost surreal. Equally remarkable was the wonderful silence, day and night. The Lake House is situated so that one has a sense of calming isolation. One last point, if you are lucky you may discover an object d’art wonderfully misplaced in one of the nearby valleys, past the house!

Hi Michael - aww, you made my day! So glad you stayed with us and had an awesome get-away! We are all searching for your object d'art! Thanks again! Carolyn
Like a dream!
Everything was perfect about our stay at Abiquiu Lake Mesa. The views are spectacular from any window you look through. Sunrise and sunset are amazing here and at night you can see every star in the sky. Carolyn was a great and attentive host. The house was super clean and had everything we needed for our stay. I wish we could’ve stayed longer!!
Hi Melanie - thank you for taking the time to leave a review...and thanks for the 5 star rating! So glad you enjoyed your time in Abiquiu and at Abiquiu Lake Mesa. It's a special place, for sure - the views and the land are magical. You need to come back and stay longer!!!
The home is located across the lake from Ghost Ranch, although Ghost Ranch also owns land in the neighborhood. Hiking at Ghost Ranch, Plaza Blanca, Pedernal, and Carson National Forest are wonderful hikes. Day trips to Santa Fe, Taos, Bandelier, Los Alamos are great day trips. In Abiquiu, also plan to visit the Monastery of Christ in the Desert, Purple Adobe Lavender Farm, Ojo Caliente, Ra Paulette cave and more. Registered guests will receive detailed information about local activities. You may boat, kayak, tube, waterski, etc. on Abiquiu Lake. There are no boat rentals, however, so you would need to bring your own equipment. There is a public boat launch at the Abiquiu Dam. Fishing guides and rafting tours provide equipment for tours and that often is a good way to get on the lake.
