Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a very precious time in Big Canoe. Staying in "Paradise" lives up to the name. Your home was perfect for our family and also on Sunday when we hosted an after the wedding brunch. The rain on Saturday was timed perfectly and made the special day a bit dreamy and the golfers got in 0 holes in sunshine. Thank you for sharing your blessings with others.

Superb

This house was amazing and just keeps surprising us! Danny was amazing to work with and he answered all of our questions almost immediately. Making the entire booking process a delight. The house......where to start!? Santas' elves had stopped by and decorated, which was awesome. There were Christmas trees in every room and it made the house feel so cozy and inviting! The rooms were big and the beds were comfortable. We had 16 in our group, and everyone was thoroughly pleased with their sleeping accommodations. The bathrooms were very spacious as well as there being quite a few of them. No one was stepping on each other for showers and such. The kitchen is very spacious with a nice layout making it perfect for big groups. The refrigerator was enormous and there was a spare fridge in the garage. The kitchen was more than well appointed and the dining room fit us perfectly. There was a separate ice maker, which was wonderful for this group. It came in VERY handy! There was a very nice bar area as well. The outside view was absolutely stunning in the evening when the sun was going down. Our group spent almost every night on the oversized deck enjoying the views and you can see the lake from almost every room in the house. We canoed over to the island and rented boats from the marina for my birthday! On our boating trip an eagle kept flying over, we are huge animal enthusiast so that was stellar! There is a brand new grill installed on the deck. Tons of games, movies and two separate living rooms to enjoy them. The pool table and ping pong table made for some very lively evenings with this competitive family! All in all, I simply cannot say enough about the grandeur of this house or how happy it made all of us to have finally found "the place" that could accommodate all of us so perfectly! We're already booking for this years Thanksgiving!

Gorgeous spacious well equipped and completely decorated for the holidays!

  • 5 of 5

It's hard to please 14 women, but our tennis team stayed at the beautiful house for what will hopefully be our annual end-of-season retreat... and each and every one of us was thrilled with the place. The minute we entered the circular foyer, we were in awe of the amazing lighted Christmas tree. It was cold outside, but warm inside as someone warmed the home for us with heat and lights on all of the Christmas decorations before our arrival. So many charming details-- too many to name. The kitchen was well-equipped and we were very close to the tennis courts (1.7 miles away and some of us even walked.) We loved it and we will hopefully be back next year!

Beautiful Property

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful property and perfect for our large family gathering. The views are magnificent and we enjoyed hiking as well as using the canoe. However, I could not rate this a "5" for the following reasons: (1) the outdoor grill needs to be replaced asap as it is a fire hazard. Only 2 of the 4 burners work because of severe rust on the gas lines. We did use it but half way through , fire started to come out of the back of the grill, again because of the rust. (2) There were no adult size pool cues and most of the child size cues did not have tips. Also the rack was broken. (3) The TV in the living room (main floor) had very very poor reception.

All of these issues could be easily fixed/repaired and then this would certainly be a 5 rated property.

Owner's Response: Peg We thank you once again for staying at Paradise. We appreciate our guests very much. As a result we have replaced the outdoor grill with at top of the line stainless steel Weber gas grill with electric start per your request. Also we have lined the area the grill sits in with concrete board to safegaurd against any possible fires as a result of its use. We now have approximately 6 adult cues and 2 child cues that do have tips and the rack has been repaired. Our apologies for this. There is also container now that our guests will be able to access that has extra tips, chalk and glue in case any tips come off in the future. Lastly we have had a technician work on the reception of the Tv in the den. We thank you once again and appreciate your input.

Great house!

We stayed here for our staff retreat, and had 13 in the house. It was a great house, with plenty of space to spread out. Comfortable and a great location. Beautiful!

Big Canoe is nestled in the North Georgia Mountains. Our property is on the largest lake in Big Canoe, Lake Petit, and is surrounded by mountains, magnificent trees and lush foliage. Wildlife abounds in Big Canoe. Sit on the deck overlooking the lake and watch the deer wander through the yard or the occasional flock of wild turkeys, as well as, the usual squirrels, chipmunks and birds.
