Located in the Mexican Riviera, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This charming traditional style villa is located 15 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta across the street from Graza Blanca, one of the best beaches in the area. It has views of the beautiful Sierra Madre mountains and the ocean, which is just a short 100 or so steps away. The living and dining areas open onto a private terrace with its own pool. They are comfortably furnished with seating for six, The living room has a TV with satellite, a DVD player and ceiling fans. There are three master suites each with its own bath, ceiling fans and A/C. The downstairs bedroom opens to the terrace and has a large open air soaking tub in the master bath The upstairs bedrooms each have a balcony with great views of the ocean . There is a fully equipped kitchen which allows you to choose to stay in for meals and enjoy a quiet evening or you can visit one of the many great restaurants in town.
A great balance of comfort and being outdoors all at the same time and the two-minute walk to a beautiful beach the ocean and sunsets is just a gem
The kids had a ball in the pool too and learned to swim much better then they would have in rainy Portland
This was our second time visiting. We definitely will be going a third time. The place is clean, comfortable and private. Literally walk across the street and enjoy the beach with the locals. You will not be hasseled by any vendors.
I would suggest getting a rental car so that you can go back and forth into town as we did.
Down the road there is a restaurant called El Set. Have dinner and a few cocktails right at sunset. You'll never want to come home.
This was my second stay. I stayed a month, and will never stay anywhere else in Puerto Vallarta if Casa Zafiro is available when I visit. And check out the Palo Maria waterfalls pratically next door, near the bridge north of the villa. Easy bus and taxi transportation.
I stayed at Casa Zafiro for one week in February 2016 with three friends. This was a great place to stay. We rented a car from Gecko (great customer service and honest to deal with), and we also used taxis and the bus. We caught taxis at the bottom of the driveway, and there was usually a taxi at the entrance to the Garza Blanca Resort, just across the street, as well as taxis frequently driving by. We just walked a few feet to the north and were at the bus stop.
The house was spacious, charming and unique, with many open-air features that could be locked off from the house when desired. For example, the stairway to the upstairs was open to the sky with no roof, and the area was accented with plants. Upstairs bedrooms and the door to the living area could be locked off from the open area. The master bedroom, on the main floor, had a tiled tub in the bathroom that was open at the roof to the sky and vegetation, and of course the bathroom could also be locked off from the bedroom for security.
The pool was a nice size, and although it is heated only by the lovely Puerto Vallarta sunshine, once we got in and exercised, the water felt good. The terrace was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a beverage or just to watch the resident iguanas sun themselves. It was a real thrill to watch the mama iguana reach into the bushes to pull her baby out by the tail so he wouldn't get too far away from her. The iguanas didn't bother us, and we didn't bother them.
The house has a laundry room, a real plus for me when I'm on vacation.
When we wanted something to eat without taking a bus or taxi, we just went across the street to the Garza Blanca. This is a lovely resort, but the food prices are good, and the food is excellent. Plan for a leisurely meal in a lovely setting, as this is not fast food.
The house is a bit south of Conchas Chinas and is in a perfect location for you to visit Chico's Paradise, Boca de Tomatlan, the zoo at Mismaloya and the Botanical Gardens. We booked a morning of fishing at Mismaloya through Marco, the diver out at Chico's Paradise. He arranged a trip with his uncle and a boat captain. I caught a bonita and Marco's uncle cooked it for us and prepared our meal at the Mismaloya beach, after which two of us had a $25 massage from the boat captain's sister and another lady. So, Casa Zafiro is near many great attractions!
We had a wonderful week at the Casa Zafiro home. Words cannot describe the peace and comfort we had here. Normally, traffic noise is an issue for me but it soon became part of what makes this place so special. We were wanting a true Mexico experience and achieved it in so many ways. We got to visit the beach, experience beautiful sunsets, Go grocery shopping, ride the bus, and sit around the house feeling like we were outside the whole time. We didn't get to swim because it was a little chilly, but we had endless conversations around the pool with only our feet in. Thanks so much for the new grill. It was fun finding Mexican charcoal. We were extremely excited to be able to cook steaks on the grill. We are already talking about when we can come back to port over… And have another adventure. When we return we hope that this wonderful house is available for our use. Thanks again for everything we sure hate to leave.

After reading Ed's review, I just had to speak up. I stayed at Casa Zafiro from Oct. 19-Nov 17 2015. It was a wonderful experience for me. The house just has such amazing charm it was easy for me to overlook the imperfections. Yes, there is a bit of 'wildlife'. Debra, the owner, has stated it and it is true. It is open to the sky in a few places in the back of the home. This is by design and aids in keeping the house cool. We had geckos and a few bugs from time to time. It is in the JUNGLE! This is going to happen, Ed.
The home is beautifully decorated and the pool was crystal clear just about every moment. The pool man is great and the maid does a fine job, as well. Everything is as shown in the photos. The beach is only a hundred yards away; a two minute walk. You are right on the bus line and there are cabs immediately across the street at Garza Blanca Resort. I rented a car for the month, if I do it again, I would just take the bus and taxis. Car rental, insurance and driving in PV is expensive and a bit scary. Taking the bus to town is such a great experience and a deal at 50 cents. If you are going/coming back it's 10 ten bucks cab fare. I think I've got PV down, so here's my top ten: Turtle release/nesting tour, swimming with dolphin/whale watching, visiting/boating to Yelapa, Isla Marieta snorkeling/ hidden cove tour, Deep sea fishing, Zona Romantico, Visting Sayulita, Botanical Gardens (truly awesome! bring swimsuit). Incredible fine dining all over town, sitting by the pool at Casa Zafiro! I want to go back, but this time, I want to skip the hurricane experience, please.
Very Noisy , full of roaches ,ants and life crabs, and lizards .
The ceiling fan had build mold all over ,the kitchen was very fitly and all amenities were old and useless, the beach shows right next to the property in the picture but it's a bit walking across the street , also the last review show from 2008 wondering why they are removed from this site. over all we have been in PV several times in a year over 10 years this was a not again rental for our stay.
Puerta Vallarta has everything you could hope for, there is swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, parasailing, and many different day boat cruises and tours. The area has some great golf courses, and a waterpark. Puerta Vallarta is known for it's nightlife as well. There are many popular bars and disco's. A boardwalk runs the length of most of the downtown area (Malecon), which is the place to go for an evening stroll, it has Artists displaying their work, shopping, local food vendors, a nightly fireworks show, just to name a couple of attractions.
Other Activities: Puerto Vallarta has activities to many to mention some include, tours of rain forest, day cruises, water sports of all kind, great shopping.
