Located in the Mexican Riviera, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This charming traditional style villa is located 15 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta across the street from Graza Blanca, one of the best beaches in the area. It has views of the beautiful Sierra Madre mountains and the ocean, which is just a short 100 or so steps away. The living and dining areas open onto a private terrace with its own pool. They are comfortably furnished with seating for six, The living room has a TV with satellite, a DVD player and ceiling fans. There are three master suites each with its own bath, ceiling fans and A/C. The downstairs bedroom opens to the terrace. The upstairs bedrooms each have a balcony with great views . There is a fully equipped kitchen which allows you to choose to stay in for meals and enjoy a quiet evening or you can visit one of the many great restaurants in town.
A great balance of comfort and being outdoors all at the same time and the two-minute walk to a beautiful beach the ocean and sunsets is just a gem
The kids had a ball in the pool too and learned to swim much better then they would have in rainy Portland
This was our second time visiting. We definitely will be going a third time. The place is clean, comfortable and private. Literally walk across the street and enjoy the beach with the locals. You will not be hasseled by any vendors.
I would suggest getting a rental car so that you can go back and forth into town as we did.
Down the road there is a restaurant called El Set. Have dinner and a few cocktails right at sunset. You'll never want to come home.
Loved the authentic Mexican feel. Pool area was beautiful with amazing tropical plants. We enjoyed seeing the "wildlife"-iguanas and coati mundi. On that note, do make sure bedroom areas and stairway area are closed off as you will have visitors especially if you have any food out. The villa could use some maintenance-the air conditioners did not work in upstairs master and also downstairs master, the toilet seat in upstairs bathroom came off, there was a strong odor coming from the floor drain in upstairs master bath, and 2 of the outside patio chairs were torn and not usable. If road noise is an issue, this is not your place. VERY Noisy!! You are on a main road with lots of taxis, buses and trucks. Overall, we had a good time and enjoyed our stay. The housekeeper and pool man were awesome.
We had a wonderful month at Casa Zafiro and will definitely stay there again. Enjoyed our time at the beach, lovely pool and patio area. Great for a family. So much was supplied, toilet paper, soap , paper towels, water. Bus service was great , every 10 minutes. We did have a visitor for the first 3 days who enjoyed our fruit. We had a racoon (Coati) sneak into our Casa during the night. He managed to slide open a window to get in, problem was resolved quickly, a trap was also set up, caught, but managed to escape. Locks were installed on window. Can't wait for the next holiday, hopefully Casa Zafiro will be available.
We were here for three weeks and truly enjoyed our time at the villa. It is comfortable and feels like home. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need. Having a laundry room is a great perk and there is a place to hang up your wet clothes coming off the beach.
This was new for us, as we previously went to all inclusive resorts. We wanted a new experience this time. It was fun grocery shopping and finding cool little places to go. I don't think I will ever do the resort thing again. This was so much more enjoyable. Anything we needed was taken care of. Debra is an amazing host.
There is road noise which was an issue for some, my husband and I didn't have an issue with it. The pool is a little chilly but that didn't stop us from sitting around with our feet in it.
The evenings were cool so we didn't need the air conditioning and the open concept allowed a nice breeze through the day. The bus stop is close and the beach at Garza Blanca is beautiful and right across the street.
One more thing, safety is a huge issue for me and I felt very safe here.
A perfect place to enjoy this amazing city!
This was my second stay. I stayed a month, and will never stay anywhere else in Puerto Vallarta if Casa Zafiro is available when I visit. And check out the Palo Maria waterfalls pratically next door, near the bridge north of the villa. Easy bus and taxi transportation.
I stayed at Casa Zafiro for one week in February 2016 with three friends. This was a great place to stay. We rented a car from Gecko (great customer service and honest to deal with), and we also used taxis and the bus. We caught taxis at the bottom of the driveway, and there was usually a taxi at the entrance to the Garza Blanca Resort, just across the street, as well as taxis frequently driving by. We just walked a few feet to the north and were at the bus stop.
The house was spacious, charming and unique, with many open-air features that could be locked off from the house when desired. For example, the stairway to the upstairs was open to the sky with no roof, and the area was accented with plants. Upstairs bedrooms and the door to the living area could be locked off from the open area. The master bedroom, on the main floor, had a tiled tub in the bathroom that was open at the roof to the sky and vegetation, and of course the bathroom could also be locked off from the bedroom for security.
The pool was a nice size, and although it is heated only by the lovely Puerto Vallarta sunshine, once we got in and exercised, the water felt good. The terrace was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a beverage or just to watch the resident iguanas sun themselves. It was a real thrill to watch the mama iguana reach into the bushes to pull her baby out by the tail so he wouldn't get too far away from her. The iguanas didn't bother us, and we didn't bother them.
The house has a laundry room, a real plus for me when I'm on vacation.
When we wanted something to eat without taking a bus or taxi, we just went across the street to the Garza Blanca. This is a lovely resort, but the food prices are good, and the food is excellent. Plan for a leisurely meal in a lovely setting, as this is not fast food.
The house is a bit south of Conchas Chinas and is in a perfect location for you to visit Chico's Paradise, Boca de Tomatlan, the zoo at Mismaloya and the Botanical Gardens. We booked a morning of fishing at Mismaloya through Marco, the diver out at Chico's Paradise. He arranged a trip with his uncle and a boat captain. I caught a bonita and Marco's uncle cooked it for us and prepared our meal at the Mismaloya beach, after which two of us had a $25 massage from the boat captain's sister and another lady. So, Casa Zafiro is near many great attractions!
Puerta Vallarta has everything you could hope for, there is swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, parasailing, and many different day boat cruises and tours. The area has some great golf courses, and a waterpark. Puerta Vallarta is known for it's nightlife as well. There are many popular bars and disco's. A boardwalk runs the length of most of the downtown area (Malecon), which is the place to go for an evening stroll, it has Artists displaying their work, shopping, local food vendors, a nightly fireworks show, just to name a couple of attractions.
Other Activities: Puerto Vallarta has activities to many to mention some include, tours of rain forest, day cruises, water sports of all kind, great shopping.
