Chalet Viewpoint is a stunning, newly built chalet with breathtaking views of the Matterhorn and Mount Dente Blanc. Located in the hamlet of Les Masses, set high in the mountain and just metres away from the brand new 4-man, high speed chairlift, this chalet offers excellent accommodation for 6 to 8 people. On the ground floor there are three double bedrooms and two modern bathrooms, one with a whirlpool bath and both with walk-in showers. Go upstairs and you emerge into a large open plan living area with sofas, separate dining area and a modern designer Poggenpohil kitchen. Everywhere, there are stunning views through the large floor to ceiling windows that lead out to one of two balconies. By the front door there is a large boot room for drying and storing skis, with the added benefit of a boot warmer. No cold, wet boots in the morning here!

Chalet ViewPoint is designed to be luxurious and comfortable with large relaxing spaces to 'chill' in the evening, whether it be with a glass of wine in front of a stove fire or around the dining area with satisfying stories of the days skiing.

Ski access – Is a 200m walk to the new high speed four man lift up to the snow park of Thyon and beyond. Great access to the ski school is one short run away from the snow park.

Skiing - Les Masses, Les Collons and Thyon form the eastern gateway to one of the largest continuous skiing areas in the Alps. The “Four Valleys” (including the resorts of Thyon, Veysonnaz, Nendaz, La Tzoumaz and Verbier) offers a total of more than 90 lifts and over 400km of groomed pistes. Winter walkers will find several kilometres of cleared winter footpaths as well as routes for snow-shoe walking and dog-sledge rides.

Les Masses, Les Collons and Thyon are ideal for family holidays. The severely restricted traffic, quantity of nursery slopes, children’s ski school and the quiet village atmosphere make these resorts particularly family-friendly. Yet there are some excellent restaurants and bars that cater for all budgets for evening entertainment.

In addition to the local skiing, an extended ski lift pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Four Valleys of Bruson, Evoline, La Tzoumaz and Verbier. This is a huge ski area and it would take some really determined skiing to explore in a week. That’s not to mention the many areas of off piste skiing for the hardened skier. Please consider guides for these world renowned great areas, they know exactly the best places to go and will keep you safe.

With skiing above 2000 metres, snow cover is generally reliable throughout the season, which lasts from early December through to April. But just in case, Thyon and Les Collons are able to augment natural snow, with 68 snow cannons to ensure that you have a great skiing holiday whatever is happening to the climate! And with 42 ski lifts in the local area, lifting 10,000 skiers/snowboarders per hour, queuing is a rarity and seldom seen in these parts.

The vast variety of pistes here mean that there are runs and slopes for all standards of skiers and boarders to enjoy, from gentle blue and red cruising runs to blacks that will make your toes curl and your heart beat just a bit faster. The women’s world cup down hill run of Mayens- de-Lours is a great run and local to your ski area. Thyon also hosts the Snowboard Swiss Cup ‘The King of the Mountain’ and Champion Suisse de Snowboard Junior. This resort is quickly becoming the area of choice in the 4 Vallees, with great skiing for all abilities and a more relaxed comfortable environment.

About Paul Rix

We are a family of five with three children aged six, nine, and Eleven. They all love the resort, as do we, and they all really enjoy their skiing having learnt their basics in the Thyon ski garden. The Chalet belongs to the family and we love it for the skiing and local hospitality, both in the mountain restaurants and in the villages of Les Masses and Les Collons.

This is a great place if you like to relax in your own environment in the evenings in comfort of your own chalet after a hard days skiing. Mix this with some nights out and Chalet ViewPoint could be the ideal location for you. The resort has a local feel with restaurants and a couple of bars where you can enjoy a drink and great traditional mountain food alongside the locals and holiday skiers alike.

This is a newly built property and is the first year we have had it available for renting. We hope you will find it relaxing and enjoyable with the comfort you would expect.

What makes this chalet unique

The views from this 'up side down' chalet are great. Whether you are sitting in the lounge, at the table with a glass of wine, or making something up for your family in the evening, you have floor to ceiling views of the mountain and can enjoy relaxing with the family in the large open plan accommodation.

If you fancy eating out in the evening or going for a drink, we can recommend a good local taxi driver who can take all eight of you into Les Collons.

There are some great mountain restaurants that serve fondues, rostees and other mountain fair. They are great warm places to eat and we can recommend our favourites ahead of your stay in our 'inside track' guide to getting the most out of the resort.

We also work with a local agent in the area who will, as part of your booking, meet and greet you with the aim of helping you settle in on your arrival. As part of booking with us you have the option to style your holiday with some extra services to help make your stay special to you.

This suite of options include daily bedroom turn downs and baby sitting through to a menu of prepared 2 or 3 course evening meals from a local restaurant delivered hot to your door in the evening.

On booking, you can look through these options and decide what you might want to best suit your stay - just let us know 1 week before you go.

beautifully located and very nicely furnished/equipped. Great place for a quiet holiday and with deep views of the valley. Modern design and finishes without compromising the traditional feel to it. Also good service from the local person in charge. Would recommend it to anyone!

Great place !

The description of the chalet is very accurate: what is described and what you see in the pictures is what you get.

We stayed a full week and it was very pleasant (although the good weather probably helped a lot).

At first, we contacted the owner on January for a rental in March without really knowing where we would spend our holidays but we had such a fast and helpful response from the owner that we made our choice very quickly.

As we had 2 very small children (13 and 10 months) with us for whom it was the first winter vacation, we had a lot of questions and concerns but the owner was very available and cleared our doubts very swiftly.

Even though it has snowed a lot before our arrival, the road and path to the Chalet were very well cleared.

Upon our arrival, everything was clean, the concierge provided us with all we needed from the linen and towels to the cribs and high chair for the babies.

Please note that it is a two story Chalet with a small stairway, so if you are coming with small children, prepare something to protect the stairs. I made some kind of rampart with the parcel shelf of my car and some ropes which worked fine.

Upstairs, the open living room with high ceiling is very nice with a lot of light during the day.

The balcony was our favorite spot from which we could watch the sun rise from behind the mountains and see the stars at night.

In my opinion, the kitchen is well furnished, we didn't miss anything even though we cooked all our meals there during the whole week.

If I had just one small complaint, it would be that the kitchen's work surface was not very well lighted at night, a light just above it would have been nice.

The ski lift is really close. The uphill walk to the lift takes about 10 - 15 minutes, its a good warm-up.

Both the owner and the concierge were very helpful in recommending options for skiing. The concierge even recommended us some ski touring routes that were very entertaining without going too far from the house.

In addition to small children on sledge, we had some beginners on ski with us so we initially feared that it would be difficult to find something for them to do at the same time but it turned out that it was surprisingly easy to find a spot for both of them.

Overall, everything was great and I would definitely recommend this Chalet to anyone.

Magnifique

Nous sommes allés en famille au Les Masses au mois de août dernier pour les vacances scolaires.

Nous avons eu la chance de louer ce splendide chalet très bien situé à quelques pas des remonte mécanique. Le chalet est parfaitement équipé dans un confort et une décoration digne d'un grand hôtel de sport d'hiver. Tout est fait avec gout et dans un souci constant du détail. Les espaces sont très bien agencés avec tous les derniers équipements attendus pour ce type de standing.

Il y a un box à ski privatif directement accessible et un parking privé (très utile puisque vous faites tout à pied).

Pour finir, les aimables propriétaires ont constamment veillé à ce que nous ne manquions de rien...

un Régal ! allez y les yeux fermés !!!!!

Neues, sehr schönes Chalet an ruhiger Lage

Neues Chalet welches den Bildern/Beschreibungen entspricht, grosszügig, gepflegt und sehr sauber. Da es sehr neu ist fehlen noch einige praktische Einrichtungsgegenstände und Küchenwerkzeuge (wird dem Vermieter mitgeteilt).

Ruhige Lage mit schöner Aussicht, guter Ausgangspunkt für unzählige Wanderungen und Besichtigungen, für den Winter gleich unterhalb einer Sesselbahn zum Skigebiet.

Für Einkäufe ist man ist allerdings auf ein Auto angewiesen, das Ort Les Masses verfügt nur über einen kleinen Laden, weitere Läden sind nur über längere/steile Fussmärsche erreichbar.

Freundlicher Kontakt zum Vermieter, problemloser Ablauf der Buchung, Tipps zu Ausflugsmöglichkeiten vom Vermieter erhalten. Vor Ort übernimmt eine einheimische Person die Betreuung/Übergabe, hat alles sehr gut und speditiv geklappt.

Da wir noch nicht alle Wanderungen abmarschiert sind oder auch mal gerne im Winter das Gebiet erkunden möchten, kommen wir sehr gerne wieder.

Chalet ViewPoint is situated only 200m from the newly built 4 man high speed les Masses chairlift which takes you up into the middle of the Les Collons/Thyon ski bowl and the whole of the 4 Vallies ski region. The 4 Vallies is one of the largest most respected ski regions in Europe catering for all ski abilities, from wide ranging sweeping blues and red runs through to challenging blacks and many off piste trails. Great mountain restaurants are spotted on the many routes with views to die for in this high ski resort where you head up from 1650m up to over 3000m at Mont Fort. The ski school of Thyon is highly respected and has a great children's ski area next to the Teepee bar. You can relax with a vin chaud there and enjoy watching your children improve their skiing before they head out onto the greens and blues next to the ski garden.

Chalet ViewPoint sits just below the tennis court of Les Masses in a quiet hamlet which has grocery shopping and a rustic local restaurant within a 50m walk. Take a five minute drive by car or bus and you will be in the centre of Les Collons with various restaurants serving high quality local fair through to the ever popular La Luge Pizza restaurant.

In Thyon, 6km away, there is an indoor swimming pool, alternatively, approximately 45m drive down the valley, there is a fantastic spar at Saillon, including outdoor hot tubs, water massage systems and a great lazy river with a water cave and bubbling beds. There is also an indoor pool and a large wooden wellness centre for steam and sauna sessions.

Summer activities include mountain biking, mountaineering, great mountain fell walking to the restaurants high up in the mountains. You can also venture to one of the largest dams in Europe on a 45m mountain picture post card drive or visit under water caves, accessed by boat.

Zermatt is 1.30hrs by car and Sion in the valley is only 30mins away. Sion has many good restaurants around the back streets and a regular market to browse and enjoy in the summer months.

In the month of August, Les Collons hosts a number of events including an annual American car rally with entertainment throughout the weekend, a weekend flea market and wood sculpturing competition, to name a few.
