The unit was advertised as 2 bedroom. It was 1 bedroom and an alcove with a bed.
The unit was clean, but the weeds were so high when we arrived, you could barely see or get to the entrance.
The apartment itself is decorated nicely. And, yes it is a basement apartment so the ceilings are low - not a big deal. When we arrived the housekeeper was still there and cleaning up a huge flooding issue. She did not speak english but, she implied she had no idea where the water had came from. It had rained badly, so I assumed there was flooding from a back up. She mentioned something of a prior visitor and a dog - not sure what that meant, but she left a large, sopping wet rug in the attached laundry room and during our entire stay it smelled of terrible mold and mildew and all our clothing seemed damp. The floors remained somewhat sticky for the whole visit. So, we were constantly wondering what the flooding had came from. They also have quite an ant issue in the kitchen which we had to be very careful when eating or leaving our belongings in the kitchen. The apartment would be a nice and easy little spot for a get-a-way, but they need to take care of a few things first.
Everything was nice and modern. Rokus on the TVs is a nice touch. Syed is very quick to respond to any questions. Ceiling is quite low.
Clean and well furnished but NOT a 2 bedroom.
This is NOT a 2 bedroom unit. It's a very tiny 1 bedroom. The 2nd "bedroom" is just a full size bed in the family room with a curtain around it. The 1 actually bedroom is super small and does not have a window. The unit was warm and the temp control was under lockdown which I certainly did not appreciate. I'm not a child. I should be able to adjust the temperature of the place I am paying to stay in. Also, no tv; only netflix so no way to get the local news and weather or watch sports - a big draw back. No complimentary snacks or coffee/tea as advertised. The shower is actually a jacuzzi tub which was just weird. Unit owner never checked in with us and did not provide a phone number for contact. Entry was normal by Chicago standards - through the back alley. However, it was a little treacherous walking over the broken stepping stones. Also, it would have been nice to have a table and chairs out back to be able to sit outside. Being a garden apt, the windows don't afford any fresh air or sunlight.
All the being said, the unit was very clean and well furnished. The price was right and the location worked.
The actual property is located in a decently safe area. Fair warning, the ceiling is very low.
My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay in Chicago in this cozy little apartment. The only downside to renting here was the ceiling was very low and made me feel as if I should duck my head to walk around. Other than that, this apartment has everything you need for a weekend getaway or business trip!
