Visitor comments: Previous renters say: 'Hey guys........this place is Awesome. What a cool house. My girls love the TVs. The view is gorgeous....just had coffee on the deck this morning. Thank you so much for sharing your blessings.'

'I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that we had a great time at Highland Heaven. What a great home! My kids are complaining about how puny our TV seems in comparison. We caught a great holiday expo (gingerbread houses) at the Grove Park Inn and just generally relaxed. It was wonderful. Thanks for all your help.' And: 'Hey Woody and Joan.....we are sad. We have to leave today. Gosh, we have enjoyed HH. We are def. coming back and we have already told people in emails out to people that they would love it.' 'you have a beautiful place, well appointed and fitted out...went above and beyond what most property owners do... You and your husband have an exceptional place and have done more than any other owners we have rented from at other locations.'

A recent visitor who stayed there for her daughter's wedding wrote '....We didn't want to leave on Sunday, we felt so relaxed there. There was plenty of room for my whole family and we rarely saw my son, who stayed in the basement the biggest part of the time......He's 21 years old so that was all he needed, a bathroom, a couch, a large TV and a pool table! My five year old niece, who came with us, called her father and said, 'Daddy,we may not be coming home. I found me a house and I'm moving in!'...Thanks again for providing such a welcoming and well-equipped home for us. It is well worth the rent and in a beautiful setting.'

Why Joan Bowen chose Asheville Area

Our home is most convenient to a variety of activities, from Biltmore Estate to Asheville Regional Airport to downtown. Less than 10 minutes from full service grocery stores, restaurants and other shopping. We're also very close to the new Biltmore Park shopping center, with a variety of stores, restaurants and a multiplex. Asheville Outlet Mall just opened May 2015, and that is less than 15 minutes away, off I 26.

The Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

For my husband's 28th birthday I surprised him with several other couples who came up and spent the weekend with us at this rental location. It was absolutely WONDERFUL! The views are spectacular from all 3 decks, both day and night. The house was more than spacious with plenty to do. We arrived on Friday and left on Sunday, and never even left the house except for a grocery run. The deck was a perfect place to grill out and sit and catch up, laugh, and of course play some corn hole. The downstairs was perfect for the evenings with the pool table and large tv. The kitchen was large enough for us to cook while everyone else conversated around the island. Beautiful location, great looking house inside and out, and the owners were wonderful to deal with. If you are looking for a great getaway to relax and enjoy the mountains....THIS IS THE PLACE!

Perfect for a low-key getaway to celebrate a buddy's pending nuptials.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed Thursday-Sunday and had a great time. The property is close enough to downtown Asheville that Uber is reasonable. The views were great and the house had everything we needed to have a good time.

Great place. Close to town, but still has a lot of privacy.

  • 4 of 5

The owners of the property are a delight to work with, very clear with instructions for the house and approachable with any questions. The place itself is as good as advertised. The driveway is also as steep as advertised, but we we're able to get 2 small cars in and out easily (would be wary of wet weather, though). Great experience overall.

Beautiful home; somewhat misrepresented

  • 3 of 5

Beautiful home. Miscomminication about arrival date. Cleaning people were there when we arrived and thought we weren't due until next day. Outdoor grill hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. We did our best on it. View from balcony disappointing due to power plant being the main focus. Couldn't really see the lake. House not stocked as promised, i.e, only 1 roll of paper towels, no kichen foil, no shampoo, etc. as advertised.

Owner's Response: We regret that these guests did not feel their vacation was perfect. We had another family leaving the morning this family arrived, so the cleaning crew could not get started as early as they normally do. The grill should have been clean, and we have reminded them to check behind each guest. While there is a power plant in the distance, normally visitors are able to see both an expanse of mountains and the lake also. We send a detailed letter to each confirmed reservation, which states that all PAPER products are supplied, such as toilet paper and paper towels, plus hand soaps for all sinks. Normally there is an extra roll of paper towels in the pantry in addition to the one on the counter; am guessing that the cleaning service forgot in their haste to wrap up since these guests had arrived before they were finished cleaning. We also leave sweeteners, salt/pepper, various teas and powdered mixes for guests, but nowhere in that letter do we state that we provide shampoo or tin foil.

Good location close to airport - Great owners

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. We maximized the capacity of the house with a few people on blow up mattresses but didn't mind it since the house is comfortable. Pictures give an accurate portrayal of the home and although it's not the fanciest of accommodations, for the price it was perfect for our group. About a 20 minute ride in to downtown Asheville and an easy 10 minute drive to the airport. Uber does service the area so it was very easy getting around. No complaints, owners are great people and very easy to work with. Yes, driveway and stairs are steep but for able bodies it wasn't a big deal.
