Peaceful and beautiful
My wife and I wanted a nice quiet beach to toast in the new year with our two college-age kids, and this place was absolutely perfect. The beach was gorgeous. Fine, soft sand. Warm, calm, shallow water with nice snorkeling right offshore. We saw needlefish, stingrays, barracuda, blue tangs and other fish I can't identify. The beach is nearly private. The public beach is on the other side of the neighboring Rum Point Club, and it gets crowded. No such issue at our beach though. And a few steps away, on the other side of the point, the open ocean provides the sweet, relaxing sound of crashing waves and a beach where you'll see very nearly no one else.
And the condo is top notch. Nicely appointed, high-scale, granite countertops and such. A fully appointed kitchen with every kind of pot, pan and utensil made it easy to cook a few meals (which I highly reccommend -- eating out costs a fortune, even at cheaper places. You might think about an [price redacted because VRBO thought I was talking about the price of the condo for some reason... but, let's say a cost of three fivers and three singles] hamburger, well, ok, it's expensive here, but then you realize that's in Cayman dollars and it really costs [price redacted again because of VRBO weirdness, but add another fiver to that burger cost] US.) We ate every breakfast on the screened porch that overlooks the beach. Awesome.
Elena is super responsive and accommodating, and will offer a ton of good recommendations -- just ask.
The Rum Point/East End area is muchmuchmuch less crowded than Georgetown/Seven Mile Beach. We spent a little time over there and spent much of that time fighting traffic and crowds, even on days with fewer cruise ships.
Bioluminescent Bay is just a short kayak paddle away, and that was a highlight of the trip. Fascinating. Do the stingrays, of course, and Crystal Caves too. Red Sail Sports is next door, and a nice gift shop. The Wreck next door is a nice place for a rum drink and a decent bar type meal.
And we toasted in the new year on a typically beautiful night on the beach, with a soft breeze keeping any bugs away, a million stars in the sky and the waves serenading us past midnight. Sigh. Take me back!
The condo was very nice, clean, and well appointed with everything needed for a fantastic week on Grand Cayman. We enjoyed being away from the crowds of Seven Mile Beach. I recommend checking the port authority schedule for cruise ships dumping thousands of people onto the island - we avoided Georgetown on those days.
Rum point is a very relaxing way to enjoy Grand Cayman, and Retreat #33 is the perfect place to stay.
Thank You Elena
Serene stay at Sunset Silver Suite
Our family of four very much enjoyed our visit to the Caymans/Rum Point last week. We were celebrating our (belated) 20th anniversary and wanted to return to the Caymans as this was the location of our honeymoon. We traveled with our daughters this time and enjoyed the beautiful condo. It was furnished very well and very pretty. Everything was tastefully decorated and we enjoyed the well stocked kitchen for cooking. Elena gave us very good advice for renting a car, restaurants and things to do. We spent much of the time snorkeling right off the beach outside the condo and relaxing on the beach. When we went to the Caymans before, we stayed in 7 mile beach. While it is pretty, we enjoyed the quiet serenity of Rum Point. And Elena was very communicative- before, during and after our stay. Highly recommend booking Sunset Silver Suite if you decide to visit the Caymans! Thank you Elena- this family from Texas really enjoyed your beautiful home!
Summer in the Caymans
Our stay at the condo was wonderful! It was perfect for our family of four, including two teenagers. The condo had everything we needed and check-in/out was very easy. There was plenty of room and the vaulted ceilings made everything feel very spacious.
Proximity to the beach was wonderful and easy. The little restaurant next door was great for a quick bite or drink while at the beach.
Rum Point is more low key than Seven Mile Beach, but that suited us perfectly. We liked exploring and finding good restaurants more off the beaten path. Elena helped with lots of recommendations of both restaurants and things to do. We worked our way through her list and had a great time. We took advantage of lots of the tours that left from the Rum Point dock, rented waverunners and paddle boards right on the beach and swam daily.
Our stay was wonderful and we would definitely look at renting this condo again if we return to the Caymans! Thank you to Elena for all her help!
Great Stay at Sunset Silver Suite
My family and I spent a week at Sunset Silver Suite and had a great time. The condo is beautiful and had everything we needed. The view from the balcony and master bedroom was gorgeous. All communications with the owner were quickly and fully answered. We really enjoyed it here and will be looking to book it in the future.
Wonderful visi at Sunset Silver Suite
Had a wonderful vacation. Great location for peace or party. Construction noise was not heard from #33 and minimal otherwise.
