Overview

Historic Center Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Just steps away from the Ponte Vecchio, on the “Oltrarno” side of the historic center of Florence, this lovely and elegant home provides all of the comforts of the modern world combined with the rich history of the 15th Century.

This home used to be the 'Forni Reali' or royal bakery serving the Medici and later the Italian royal family when they occupied the Palazzo Pitti. It comprises 130 square meters (approx. 1,399 sq. ft), and has 3 bedrooms, each with private bathroom, a large living room and fully-equipped modern kitchen, small study and additional half bath. The apartment sleeps 6-8 people, and wraps around a lovely courtyard garden adorned with flowers, fountain and goldfish. Decorated both for comfort and charm, the home contains an eclectic mix of antiques and modern furniture.

The apartment has its own separate entrance on the ground floor, only one step up from the street, and is equipped with all necessary amenities, including central heat and air conditioning, satellite t.v. and DVD/VCR player, Internet connection, dishwasher, full size refrigerator, and washing machine. One of the owners is an artist who splits his time between Florence and New York City, and many of his original artworks are exhibited in the home, including large oil paintings in the living room, and frescoes in the bedroom.

The apartment is located on a pedestrian-only street just off a charming piazza. There you will find a famous restaurant and delightful cafe. Just 3-4 minutes away you will find the Ponte Vecchio, and you can walk to the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria in 5-10 minutes. A parking garage is located 1 minute away, and local bus stops servicing all parts of the city are also just minutes away.

Outstanding location and property

  • 5 of 5

We were 3 couples celebrating 'big' birthdays. The location was outstanding... 2-20 minutes from ALL of the major attractions. The main ensuite was superb. The 2 other ensuites have shower challenges (curtains are useless and floor was constantly soaked), but otherwise they are great. 3 of the best local restaurants are a 10 min walk. The courtyard is lovely (needs updated furniture). Really a fabulous location and it looks exactly as photographed.

A Wonderful Vacation in Firenze!!!

  • 5 of 5

We are three adult couples who have recently returned from a vacation throughout Italy. We began the vacation with five incredible days and nights in Florence.

We rented this apartment on homeaway.com and absolutely loved it!!!

The location is superb... two minutes walk from the Ponte Vecchio. The apartment was exactly as pictured on the website... three bedrooms with four bathrooms, lovely living room and beautiful courtyard!!!

The apartment's history fit in perfectly with Florence. It was once a bakery for the Medici family. The room where the bread was baked is still in tact!

The owner, Mr. Nallbani, was exceptional... wonderful to deal with, prompt with his replies.

We recommend this apartment for any group desiring a great experience in Firenze!!!

A comfortable apt with history and perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

This apt was perfect for our family of 6. It was spacious, comfortable and convenient! It was walking distance to everything and we enjoyed the shops and restaurants nearby. The history attached to the apt made our stay more fun and interesting. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Wonderful Historical Apartment

  • 5 of 5

This apartment suited our family and extended family perfectly. We enjoyed the outside courtyard everyday at breakfast with fresh goods from a nearby bakery. The location was perfect as it allowed us to walk to everything...restaurants, museums, shops, etc. We appreciated the history of the apartment as it set the tone for the entire Florence visit. Management was very professional and responsive.

A great "home base" for a wonderful month in Florence

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent May in Florence and we loved this apartment. It was quiet, convenient, and well-equipped. What a surprise to find that the rental agent, Veronica, actually taught Italian at a college near us! The local square is lovely and lively and we ended up eating at restaurants throughout Oltrarno.

Each week we had new guests for the 2 extra bedrooms and everyone loved the ambiance of the apartment and the location. We used patio area extensively to relax and catch up on the day. I did a fair amount of cooking in the apartment and shopped extensively at the local grocery and open air market. I wish that my gas range top at home worked as well as this one!

Owners and agents were very responsive and accommodating about requests. All in all ... a great experience.

Comfortable Apartment, Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

Katerina was really nice. Luckily she met us at the square where our taxi dropped us because we would have searched a little to find the exact apt. She showed us everything about the whole place and gave a great overview of key things around the apt and around Florence. The apt was nice with a neat layout, nice interior courtyard and a lively piazza with multiple bars and restaurants right outside the door, and just minutes from Ponte Vecchio. We had everything we wanted in the apartment (with neat historical flair and ties to royalty as a bakery), with an absolutely ideal location. We stepped out the door for nightly drinks and were able to walk to every sight we wanted to see. We would definitely stay there again on a future trip to Florence.
