You can have the feel of an authentic log cabin without sacrificing modern day amenities in the Lakeview Log Cabin. This cabin is primarily used for a second home, so we have paid attention to the details. The chalet style west facing windows let in the evening light and create a warm atmosphere in the kitchen and living room, or it can be enjoyed even more from the two large decks and backyard. Or you can lay back and bring it all in sitting in the large hot tub. The three seperate levels of the cabin, with the common areas in convenient locations make it easy to fit a large number of people without sacrifing privacy. On the main level you enter to the mud room which has the washer and dryer. From there you go into the hallway which has the master bedroom with a king size bed and toddler bed across from the bedroom is the first full bathroom, and from there it opens into the great room and kitchen with 20 foot vaulted ceilings. Up the stairs is the loft with a king size bed, couch and room for blow up beds or sleeping bags. The two bedrooms in the lowest level have an olympic queen size bed in one room and two sets of bunk beds in the other, with a full size futon as the lower choice on one of them. There is a full bathroom near those bedrooms. Also on the lower level is the pool table, darts and the lower deck that is covered and has the hot tub. There is individual heat in each room for added comfort of individual preferences and a wood burning stove in the main living area that is more than adequate to heat the entire cabin, and provides great cabin ambience. There is an abundance of recreational ooportunities in the area including; a great ski area with a diverse amount of terrain fit for both experts and beginners, a Jack Nicklaus golf course, Georgetown lake which provides multiple recreational opportunities, and multiple high alpine lakes and breathtaking mountain views. Once you have stayed you will want to return, it is a wonderful place in the heart of the Montana mountains.
There's something for everyone here whether you are looking for peace and quiet or the ultimate outdoor adventure. World class hunting and fishing is my favorite feature. But it's also great having a ski area that has runs for all levels 5 minutes from my back door. My friends love snowmobiling in the red lion area and I've heard those trails go all the way to Philipsburg. The area has become popular for kiteboarding on the frozen lake in the winter for those looking for something new to try, and they even have lessons and rental equpiment. If you're a golfer you should plan on playing the Jack Nicklaus course only 17 miles away called Old Works, black sand pits under the backdrop of the Pintlar mountains is a course you won't forget.
My family and close friends chose this rental for several reasons but ultimately felt letdown due to the poor condition the property is currently in. The view of the lake was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed that. The grassy area is also awesome for yard sports. Our main issue with the cabin was that the pictures posted on VRBO are NOT a true representation of the current state of the cabin. It was dusty everywhere, the yard was a matted down/weedy mess (don't expect lush, green grass), volleyball net had holes in it, fire pit was full of charcoal from previous users, there was a broken dishwasher on the deck, the outdoor grill needs a good clean, the hot tub chemicals where not in the normal range, multiple light fixtures where not working, the welcome booklet was torn with outdated instructions, there were TV cords hanging everywhere. Several doors were padlocked which is fine but where do renters hang their clothes in the master bedroom? This place needs organization, cleaning, and new paint. We have stayed at multiple VRBOs (many times as returning guests) for the past 5 years and this is the first time I have ever been disappointed. We will not be returning to this cabin.
We have stayed at VRBO's at least 15 times and have been so pleased with our stay. Unfortunately this was our first disappointment....it is NOT as pictured. The lush green grass by the fire pit is brown stubble. Numerous things are broken or don't work, we didn't even have enough light because light bulbs were burned out. It is a cute cabin and could be spectacular, it needs some serious TLC, maintenance and a thorough, deep cleaning. We have stayed at a VRBO up the hill, similar price per night and it is immaculate. (chose this place because of the lakeview) We had read the reviews and although they were dated in 2015 they were all positive, but the day we arrived a new review was posted and had we have seen it prior to booking we would have not stayed here. Not sure what happened in the last year, but it seems to have gone downhill. I don't like negativity, but with the money paid out for rentals, these reviews need to be accurate and honest.
Stayed at this property for 5 nights in late July. Our decision was based on the reviews we saw and were a bit disappointed upon arrival. The house needs a good deep clean (which my in laws and I dusted spider webs, swept, etc). Would have thought the cleaning deposit would have assured a clean home to bring our two children too. The landscaping needs some clean up too and the volleyball net is broken. Also, smoke detectors were missing in some rooms which I addressed with the owner but didn't hear back. The house did grow on us as the days went on and the views of Georgetown Lake were amazing.
We stayed at this beautiful cabin for 3 nights. It was so wonderful to wake up in the mornings and step outside on the deck, with a cup of
coffee and the view of the gorgeous lake. It was so peaceful and quiet. We saw an elk in the
backyard and also a couple of bald eagles. We
couldn't find any hiking trails in walking distance from the cabin, so we just walked down the road for a mile and back. We drove one day to the left
of the cabin and there was some great valley views for spotting wildlife. We enjoyed the hot tub, bean bag toss and the pool table. There was a lot of toys for the little one and the safety gates were a plus. What I loved most was the ample amount of cooking utensils, kitchen gadgets, pots and pans, paper products, fluffy towels, and a closet full of everything you would need. We had a great stay and was between the towns of Anaconda and P-burg which we did visit both
towns and had a blast. If you love sunsets like we do you would definitely fall in love with the sunsets over the lake in the evenings. One thing more, this was the only cabin out of a hundred that I researched that didn't have a pet fee. :) :) :) We will definitely consider this cabin again when
visiting Montana and recommend to others.
Arriving at this beautiful cabin, made our two day drive so worth it. It helped fulfill a long time dream of my husbands, to visit the beautiful state of Montana. The cabin very comfortably accomidated our group of 8 (with room to spare). It is beautifully furnished with everything you'll need, for your stay. Every morning we awoke early, just to sit on the deck and take in all the breathtaking views. If you've never visited Montana, the location and views from this cabin will help you realize why it's called Gods country. Absolutely stunning and breathtaking!!!
10 women from our ski group in Bozeman had a really nice stay at this property. From the hot tub we saw Georgetown Lake and heard an owl hooting close by. Discovery Basin's ski trails were close by and we had a fun trip to P Burg, Maxville and Princeton, shopping at the candy store, thrift store, brewery, gem store, local artists store, and getting very excited that the old rail bed may be a rail trail one day. The house was clean and would hold 9 people well, each having their own bed except for the king beds. I would stay here again and tell others.
