Two Bedroom Apartment, Sleeps 8

This 2 bedroom duplex is tastefully furnished and nicely decorated, and can sleep up to six people in the heart of the city. Just 100 meters away is the historic Old Town Square; home at one time to the great Franz Kafka and sight of the incredible Astrological Clock. Within easy reach is Wenceslas Square, originally home to the city's horse market, and today a major shopping area. And just over the Charles Bridge is the gorgeous Mala Strana area, home to many fine Renaissance palaces and the magnificent St Nicholas' Church. With such a wonderful location, this apartment is a great place from which to get to grips with this fairy-tale city.

                      OUTSTANDING, with one problem

                      This is a GREAT apartment in an IDEAL location with a tremendous POSTCARD VIEW of the city skyline out of the upper skylight. The management is very HONEST and RESPONSIVE and FRIENDLY. I recommend it VERY HIGHLY for a small number of people. There could be a few minor rough spots for a larger group of people. There is one problem that was a continuing frustration -- the Wi-Fi doesn't work reliably. That is why it's not a full 5 stars for me. If I could, I'd give it 4.5, but I would not be an honest reviewer without noting that fact, because I consider it important. I needed it, and it let me down most of the time. I had to go downstairs and use the public Wi-Fi in the restaurant.

                      Location, location, location:

                      This apartment is with a very few blocks of just about everything -- Old Town Square, the Charles Bridge, the foot of Wenseslas Square, Metro, tram, a small supermarket, a historic street market, innumerable shops, and dozens of excellent restaurants. It couldn't possibly be located in a more advantageous spot.

                      The apartment:

                      How can you not like a 960-square-foot penthouse on 2-1/2 floors, with five skylights and a postcard view? It is spacious, has firm beds, lots of chairs, a large all-purpose dining room table, and a pair of sofas. The spiral staircase is fun and convenient. The TV is pretty useless. The apartment is practical for a few people -- the kitchen is fully functional but may need more plates, glasses, cups, and tableware for a full complement of 8 people (we were only two). The small frig was fine for two people but would not serve very many more people very well. The cutting knives are dull -- bring your own sharpener. The shower was useless -- set way too high on the wall, so it was a hand-held type only, and the shower curtain didn't go all the way around, so it was easy to squirt water out of the tub area accidentally. You can order a small clothes washer for 30 Euros but will have to hang your wet wash on the shower curtain rod and the heating radiators. Cleaning and towel delivery was reliable. It's on the fifth floor. The small elevator is functional but annoying and prone to breaking down. The biggest problem is the lack of reliable Wi-Fi. Not only is the signal weak, but the system often failed to function properly even when "connected".

                      Bottom Line:

                      We loved this apartment as our home in Prague for two weeks. The plusses far outweigh the few negatives.
