Words cannot express the wonderful time our group of 6 families had staying in Villa Blanca this summer. The hosts, Christian and Carina were very accommodating to our every need. The house is absolutely beautiful and was very clean. With the windows open to the sea breezes we did not even use the air-conditioning. We loved the beautiful pool, used the tennis and the basketball and walked daily down to the uncrowded local beach, where we could also sit in a beach chair and order Mojtios. Our teenage kids were able to walk around town, use the local gym and have a little freedom (although it is a very quiet town with very little nightlife, which suited us just fine.)
The kitchen was aptly stocked and there is a huge walk in fridge, so we cooked up many meals for our large crew, but also used cristinacooks.com for several fabulous catered meals. She brought her two lovely daughter with her to help prep and serve.
From the house, we were able to take several day trips to local towns and Barcelona, but my best memories are sitting on the lovely terrace and just enjoying the sea breezes and the bougainvillea. Thank you for making this magical place available to us!
As part of a group of 19 of mixed children and adults Villa Blanca offered flexibility to ensure we each had a great holiday. The layout of rooms and ensuites ensured there was sufficient privacy. The common areas inside the home provided ample room for everyone, and the outside patios and eating areas were great for an informal relaxed holiday. Easy access to the beach, as well as the on site swimming pool and tennis ensured there was plenty of choice for all.
Both Pablo and Carina were excellent hosts. From initial meeting to final farewell they were available to address our needs and shared the history of the property to make us feel welcome and more than just paying customers. We engaged Christina and her team to provide some special meals and demonstrate the art of paella to add to the superb experience. This was a first time experience for my family in Spain and it has set a high benchmark!
We are a group of 19 active friends ages 18-72, including one in a motorized wheelchair, who travel internationally each summer. Our preferred lodging accommodations are large villas, castles, or estates and Villa Blanca is one of the finest we have experienced. Pablo, Carina, and their son Christian were exceptional in accommodating our special needs and in sharing the rich history of the property and the region. Pablo is a renowned collector of rare books and we spent a delightful evening examining centuries old originals while enjoying marvelous local wines. From the time we initially contacted Pablo though our last evening, we were made to feel more like visiting family than rental property clients.
While there we enjoyed breakfast each morning and four evening meals prepared by Christina, the chef serving Villa Blanca. One of the meals was a cooking school where we learned to prepare paella and accompanying dishes. She is fantastic. Other meals we enjoyed at the many restaurants along the beach, easily walkable from the villa and most accessible from the esplanade. In addition, we were able to order food and drinks online for delivery to the villa from the local supermarket, AlCampo. This was especially handy for having basic provisions onsite when we arrived.
Local transportation was available via local taxis for the immediate area and the local train station was about 1km away. Barcelona via the train is about 45 minutes. For accessible transportation we used AccessibleSpainTravel.com, which was excellent. Daniel organized independent and accessible mini-bus travel for our group for trips into Barcelona, Montserrat, and from/to the airport. (During our holiday we also spent several days in Madrid and Daniel organized travel there as well.) Pablo assisted with the accessible bookings on the Spain Railway (RENFE) for our travel between Madrid and Barcelona which should be organized as early as possible.
Spain offered great value for the costs especially when compared to other European destinations. All in all it was a delightful experience, thank to the wonderful friends we made in organizing our travels. As Pablo remarked, "It is often through commerce that great friendships originate."
The villa description is accurate. The grounds and pool are well maintained and a pleasure to be in. The house is amazing. We understand it was the home where the now owner Pablo actually grew up in, can only imagine the childhood games of hide and seek!
The villa is very well appointed with everything you could ever need.
We had 19 in the group including 3 kids and everyone found space to enjoy a week together. We used Christine for several meals and a cooking lesson. It was very nice food and very reasonablely priced.
Beach is close. The locals were patient with our attempts at Spanish.
Pablo and Carina are welcoming and very friendly. We travelled from Australia for this holiday and would be happy to reccommend it to anyone with a large group. Good value.
We are a family group of 21 and have just spent a week at Villa Blanca. It is spectacular. The rooms are spacious with beautiful décor. The views are fantastic and the grounds are fabulous. We had 3 teenage boys in our group so the basketball, tennis and ping pong suited them and 4 of the little girls packed their roller blades as there is a ring there. The pool was beautiful and warm and loved by all.
Carina and Pablo were marvellous, Carina works constantly tending the grounds. Carina did the shopping for us before we arrived and we arranged for a drinks delivery for our arrival.
We used the chef, Christina on three of the evenings, her food was excellent and superb value for money.
We had lunch on the beach twice, which was good and we had a fantastic meal one evening overlooking the port (Carina knows the name of the restaurant). Beware if you are taking little ones, a lot of places don't seem to start serving in the evenings until later on.
Pablo works closely with a man called Borja who arranges events. He booked horseriding and quad biking and helped with the transfers, he also arranged a bus to collect us from the airport.
A day trip to Barcelona is highly recommended, the train station is about 1km away, it takes about 45 minutes to arrive in central Barcelona.
A fantastic time had by all......thank you Villa Blanca!!!!!!
Our family numbering 22 aged from six months to nearly 80 years had a most perfect week at Villa Blanca at the end of June. We couldn't believe how great everything was.
We enjoyed beautifully landscaped gardens, swimming pool, tennis court, ping pong table and a basketball court plus plenty of areas to relax and eat outside. Every day we discovered new places around the property to explore-even a cubby house for the children to play in. Every night we had pre-dinner cocktails in a different part of the property. The photos do not do the property justice.
Furthermore there were shops, good restaurants and the beach within easy walking distance making a car unnecessary. Barcelona and Girona are only about an hour away which is a bonus when you have travelled a long way already - Sydney and London.
Our hosts Pablo, Carina and Christian made us most welcome from my first email enquiry. They kindly organized food and drink to be ordered and delivered before our arrival. They picked some of our group up from the local train station and dropped them again at the end of the week. All our enquiries/requests no matter how small were dealt with speedily and efficiently. High chairs/cots delivered, taxis called, light globes changed, washing machine liquid provided, outdoor furniture moved for example. We enjoyed talking to Pablo, Carina and Christian about the area and the interesting history of the house and gardens.
On top of this we were spoilt by the chef, Cristina, who cooked us a delicious 3 course dinner every night with good humour and charm. We corresponded with Cristina for some time before our stay to plan our reasonably priced menus and she was always patient and helpful.
We also used the services of Borja who organized outings for us and even a surprise Flamenco performance at the Villa which was a real treat.
We can't speak highly enough of our week at Villa Blanca and would recommend it to everyone and have already done so!
