Norm Johnson purchased this condo in 1999
This property is close to everything and only 10 minutes to the Airport. I want to spend my last days sitting on the lanai watching the whales swim by.
Walk to 7 restaurants, shopping, mini golf, Maui Ocean Center, whale watch/dive boats, 7 mile beach walk to Kihei. You will love it and never want to leave.......
This condo was gorgeous and overlooked the ocean and everything was as promised. The property has a beautiful salt water pool with a BBQ, overlooking the ocean as well. Walking distance to plenty of restaurants, shops and The Maui Ocean Center which is a must see while you are here. We also walked to miniature golf & bumper cars...which was a BLAST! Miles of Beaches. The Lanai was so relaxing especially while having your morning coffee or your afternoon glass of wine. It was so great spending Mothers Day here and we will definitely be returning this time next year. The owner was very easy to work with...Thank you for letting us enjoy your home!
We landed on Maui and got a call from the owner, who is a very charming guy on the phone. Long story short, there was a snag in the plan, a "friend of a friend" was in the condo we had reserved and paid for in advance. So the owner would "upgrade" us to his own place right above it. If this is an upgrade...well. The condo is so tired and filthy. Our first chore was to change the sheets and throw the rest of the bedding in the corner because it smelled like a sweaty man, it so obviously was never changed after the last renter. The shower shot water in all directions including into the electric exhaust fan. It felt like he left an hour before we got there, his personal belongings everywhere. The views and complex could not be better. We did not chose the cheapest condo. I called him and he gave me some story about his cleaner being new, I have kept house for 30 years and I know the difference between new dirt and old dirt. His answer to my complaint was to blame me for not calling him to fix it. He also offered me a free night or two if I ever come back. I would never give him more of my hard earned money. Maalea is very nice, don't let unscrupulous condo owners run you off. READ THE REVIEWS, Be a little sceptical, be aware that the owners themselves and their families can write there own reviews. My advice, Google the complex and ask the manager for a recommendation.
We booked a last minute week long trip to Maui using some airline miles, and needed a place to stay. It was me, my husband our 2 kids (our son is 3 and our daughter is 20 months) and my father, so 3 adults and 2 small kids. First and foremost the photos do not do this place justice, the view is amazing, granted you wont' get the picturesque sunsets from this location but what you do get is whale watching from your patio. We must have seen 30-40 whales while we were there, and even say a few breach! There is a nice little beach for the kids about 20 yards from the condo as well. The condo was super clean (granted a little outdated on the furniture, but still worked perfectly). I really loved the layout, and the king bed as the kids sleep with us. Opening up the windows at night and listening to the waves crash was just the relaxing evenings we needed.
As far as location, it is not in the "touristy" spots, and that is what we wanted. It is in Maalea (spelling?) which is halfway between Kinei and Lahaina. For us this was perfect as we were looking for the relaxing vacation but still wanted to be close to all the things we wanted to do. It was 15 minutes to Kihei and 25 minutes to Lahaina. The particular spot for the condo is perfect as well, it is on the 3rd floor, but right in front of the elevator so no long walking around the building. Also the washer and dryer were super close as well, and they have a coin/change machine that was convenient as well, and they worked exceptionally well.
For the normal stuff, showers were nice, did have a tub in the second bedroom (perfect for washing the kids) and the master also had a wand for the shower that really helps when trying to get sand off your legs and such. Microwave, fridge, oven all worked perfectly, no issues whatsoever. The owner even has a few chairs and a boogie board you can use. The condo does have a nice pool as well, granted we never used it as we spent all our time on the beach.
We were totally satisfied with our stay and would definitely stay here again, for the price, view and location, this will be hard to beat for sure!
It would be really awesome if you would purchase some new chairs (like 4 of them), a couple of boogie boards (good ones) and some decent snorkle gear, and even a Stand up paddleboard. Just charge us renters like an extra $100 per stay or something. This would be so beneficial & time saving, and would make you money in the long run as well.
The owner supplied photos do not do justice the the view. It was fantastic eating on the balcony watching the world go by. The salt water pool was a big hit with the family. The BBQ was well maintained. The condo is in walking distance to restaurants and shops. For those diving/sightseeing/boat cruising, a number of tours leave from Ma'alaea harbor which is a 5 minute walk! This is important because a lot of the boats leave at about 7am. The condo was well maintained, although a little outdated. The 2 bedrooms were roomy and the beds comfortable. Living area was a good size and the ceiling fan provided enough cooling. The condo complex was quiet and the managers welcoming and helpful. If you are looking for a relaxing place to stay with fantastic ocean views, then this is the place for you. The owner was very helpful with questions. Thanks for a great vacation!
My first experience in Maui was so awesome and it probably wouldn't have been as awesome had we not stayed here. The location of the place was fantastic. Only about 1 or 2 minutes walking distance from the cozy little beach in front and right in the middle of the island so driving to see everything while we were there was not impossible. I loved sitting out on the lanai and bringing in the early morning sunshine and wind. It was so peaceful and relaxing. This condo was well kept. It has sort of an antique look about it, and its beautiful all the same. Very warm and welcoming. This is perfect for a couple especially since the master bedroom is rather impressive. The other bedroom seemed small, but the other party staying there didn't have any complaints. The owner was very friendly and helpful in guiding us whenever we had questions, as well he offered information about nearby activities. I went for my wedding/honeymoon and I was very happy staying in such a wonderful place. I'd say if you are looking for an oceanfront condo in a quiet area with a spectacular view, then you shouldn't pass this one up.
This dirty condo is located in a clean, well maintained complex, with a new saltwater pool & Barbque area that is in the beautiful location of Maalaea, Maui.
It was not ready when arrived at 3:30/4:00pm.
2nd bedroom window, window sill, blinds & curtains full of mold/mildew & dirt.
Mattresses there were uncomfortable & when we took plastic covers off (plastic covers in humid Hawaii?) we found severely stained & over the top filth. Moved my family from there to futon in main room as it was not habitable.
All bifold doors, base, & general condition of this condo was unexpected & unexceptable when paying top $$.
Owner does Not have you sign a contract & he gives no info other than verbal.
Pictures are taken from a distance & does not show this filth.
Check into other rentals at this complex because its this unit, not the complex I'm reviewing.
