Friendly helpful owners, great neighbourhood, two bedrooms, separate shower

The great thing about this superb apartment is its location. Built in 1774, it is adjacent to the buzz of one of London’s “destination streets” (Upper Street), one minute from the underground (Victoria line), and on Highbury Fields, which London's colourful mayor, Boris Johnson calls 'the jewel of our borough, positively bursting with artistic and cultural delights' and where he plans to make good his new year's resolution to lose a stone. The apartment's proximity to the underground and its excellent connections, makes it the perfect place to come home to. Part of an historic Grade II listed terraced house, it has recently (February 2010) been completely re-decorated, and is modernised to a high standard. Our guests frequently comment on its attractive “feel” and many make return visits.

We are very happy to arrange a taxi from the airport if required.

Please note this is a non-smoking apartment.

The property consists of:: One double bedroom and one twin bedroom, both with 100 percent cotton sheets and wool blankets; living room with colour tv, freeview digital channels, DVD player, VHS, hi fi, sofa and sofa bed with duvet (sleeps two); modern kitchen fully equipped with washing machine, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, electric cooker and gas hob, extractor hood, microwave, coffee machine and toaster, bathroom with separate shower.

The famous Almeida Theatre, Sadler’s Wells dance theatre and cinemas are on the doorstep, and the nearest Tesco supermarket is just 5 minutes walk. An ideal base for exploring London, the apartment is also perfectly placed for day trips to Paris. Just one tube stop away is the iconic, beautifully refurbished St Pancras station (stop off at Europe’s longest champagne bar before you leave), and the dazzling new arts and music venue, Kings Place (opening 1 October, 2008). There is a fast, free, broadband wifi connection available in the flat. The apartment, which is light and airy, is on the third floor (no lift or elevator). A sofa bed in the living room sleeps two. Downstairs there is indoor space to store bicycles (at your own risk). The apartment has a DVD player and Free view multi-channel digital TV. Tennis rackets can be borrowed if required. There are two hairdryers.

Loved it. Great for families.

We are a family of six, with four young boys. Absolutely loved 2 Highbury. With the park and metro station within 100 meters it was super convenient. The restaurants and grocery storre are also just around the corner, less than 5 mins walk. Sally and Nigel were so pleasant and accommodating. Great experience. Thank you.

Great location, convenient food and gluten free options

This flat is almost within sight of the Highbury-Islington station. The Victoria line is fast and goes to a lot of good locations. We really liked how convenient it was to get into and around town. If you're from outside the UK, look into getting a Visitor Oyster card before you arrive.

There are two small markets within sight of the station (Tesco & Waitrose) and another very close by (Sainsbury), so food shopping is super easy. You can shop one day at a time without having to carry food super far. There are definitely a lot of steps, so this is probably a good thing.

If you need gluten free options, this is a great part of London. There are multiple gluten free bakeries (Beyond Bread and Artisan Gluten Free) a short walk down the street and a nice restaurant (Niche) not too far away in Angel. The Tesco had lots of GF options and they are good about explicit labeling. They had refrigerated GF Pizza Express personal pizza in stock for part of our stay. There's also a Pizza Express in Angel.

Finally, the hosts are incredibly gracious. They were very helpful and super nice.

Great highbury flat

This is our second time staying at the Highbury flat. We love this flat. It is ideally located , very near the tube and shops and restaurants. Nigel is a very attentive host and is very helpful. We hope to return again.

A great place

The property had all we needed in a well set up apartment.I liked having a dishwasher,and washing machine ,and heaters would make the apartment cosy in cold weather.(We did not use the latter ,as we had heatwave conditions )Our greeting there with Nigel was excellent as he was able to give information about the apartment ,and the area ,as to shops,restaurants,pubs etc.

Lovely overlooking the park,and very close to the station,so in a convenient spot.

All good,but have to mention the climb up many steps to this apartment.We are both 75, and a good job we are fit,as it would be a struggle for most elderly people.
