Overview

Captain Cook House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Kealakekua Bay (which means Pathway to the Gods) has one of the Big Island's most spectacular coral reefs. Because it is a Marine Life Sanctuary, the fish are plentiful and swarm over the well developed reef that slopes from the shores into the ocean. Spinner dolphins, Manta Rays, and Green Sea turtles are commonly seen resting in the Bay. Humpback Whales visit in the winter season from January to March. The reefs make this area an underwater showcase, so come enjoy a swim or snorkel, and dive into some of the worlds most pristine waters, all well within walking distance from the house. Often there is an opportunity to swim with the plentiful spinner dolphins, right in the bay.

Enjoy the peacefulness, beauty, and spirit of old Hawaii when you visit this vacation rental home at Kealakekua Bay. Get away from the crowds and traffic in Kailua-Kona town.

This well equipped home has everything needed for a comfortable stay from a week or two to a month or more. Fully furnished, 2 bedroom with 1 1/2 baths, fruit trees and garden, and cooking utensils, and laundry facility. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the tranquility of old Hawaii. Call Kay for reservations or information and when you leave a message, please also give your time zone and best time to call. With our low rates, you can enjoy more activities and still have a great place to stay. Local fruits provided when in season. Bonus: Upon your arrival, you are provided a supply of Kona Coffee, Juice, Milk, Bread, Jams, Eggs, and some local snacks.

Kay, So nice to meet you, and thanks for everything!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, the property is less than 500 feet from the ocean, the map is a little off. People actually parks in front of the house(on the other side of the street) to go to the beach!

The place is pretty easy to find, and the flat on top floor is very spacious. Lots of fruit trees around the house. Wish we did buy any star fruits at the farmer's market after we landed, turn out Kay's star fruits are bigger and sweeter! Thanks again for the home made spaghetti diner and fresh Mango! And thanks for the bread, milk and eggs.

The location of this place is great - walk down the street to ocean, and you can rent a kayak from Bay Side Adventure to visit Captain Cook's Monument. If you are lucky, you will see spinner dolphin on the way. If not, you are still guaranteed to the best snorkeling spot of the whole Hawaii! Four miles down the road further south, it's the famous City of Refuge(a National park), and two steps.

The area can get pretty hot during the day. There is an air conditioning unit in one bed room. But we didn't use it with all the windows open.

Oh, thanks for the cookies, they are incredible.

simply our best experience in Hawaii

  • 5 of 5

We're glad to find Kay's place from this website. The experience was super-positive. Kay is super-nice and hospitable, inviting us to her party and local gathering, offering us fresh tropical fruits and home-made fruit cakes almost everyday. And her place is simply great, not only minutes away from one of the 3 best snorkeling beaches, but also just pretty, and lots of tropical fruit trees. If we ever have chance to go back to the big island, her place would be our first choice. Even our 11-yr old son felt sad when we had to leave at the end of stay.

Best budget friendly rental you will find!

  • 4 of 5

I can't imagine that you would ever find a better rental at this price. A short walk to the bay, short drive to Two Steps. A great location to explore this part of the island. I know for certain that you won't find a more accommodating, kind, generous host than Kay at any price!! Your cookies are incredible. The thanks so much for letting us stay.

Perfect. Exactly what we were looking for

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here this weekend. Perfectly located to enjoy south kona/Kau, north kona, and at the same time near Kealakekua bay. The 2nd story is spacious - a big living room and 2 nicely sized rooms. Comfy firm beds, fresh fruit (plentiful tangelos to make amazing fresh juice, papaya, tangerines, and bananas); it is simple quiet living with all the amenities we needed. Definitely staying here next time I visit West Hawaii Island.

We loved staying with Kay. She is a wonderful person and we had the most wonderful time. The best thing for us was the proximity to snorkeling...You are just 5 minutes by car to Two-Step which is a fantastic snorkling spot with shore entry and no boat fee. You also are right on Kealakekua Bay so you can rent a kayak and paddle over to the Capt. Cook Monument to see the best reef in all of Hawaii. The visability rivals Tahiti and the schools of yellow tang are not to be missed. Kay is a wonderful host. I dont't think you cannot find a better location for snorkling on the Island.
