Ritired from diplomatic services around the world, I enjoy to meet foreigners and give all kind of useful information to make your vacation in Rome happy and relaxing. Do not hesitate to ask for any help you may need.
My son Gabriele helps me manage the apartment. You can relay on him for anything.
My name is Gabriele. I help manage the apartment for my father Giuseppe (in the picture).
I have helped managing this property for about 3 years. Before I managed another apartment for 5 years.
I enjoy art and architecture and meeting people.
I will be happy to help you make the most of your trip to Rome.
Giuseppe Di Milia purchased this apartment in 1972
Elegant area. Comfortable and centrally located. It has all the comforts of a home.
Very good location to see all the main attractions of Rome.
The building has a very distinctive 1950's design and interesting architectural features. It is well connected by public transportation to monuments and sites of interest and it is elegantly furnished and decorated with taste.
Beware of booking this apartment. I made a reservation in June and paid the required deposit after confirmation from Giuseppe that the apartment was available. A few days ago we received an e-mail saying that the balance was due. I paid the balance then wrote asking for directions. Giuseppe e-mailed me back stating that the apartment was NOT available. I asked for my money (deposit + 2nd payment) and was told that homeaway has it. I've contacted homeaway and they are saying that since I'm canceling I will only get 50% returned. I explained that Giuseppe canceled on us but got no where. Its now with my bank as reported fraud. This may have only been a one time thing, however, we are now out our full 3 days payment for the apartment, have received no help on trying to get a full refund nor have any place to stay when we arrive in Rome in less then a week.
Giuseppe was kind enough to let us drop our luggage early and gave us great suggestions on restaurants and a market close by. There is a house phone you can use to call him directly with any questions. We did not need to use it but that was very reassuring. There is quite an incline to get to and from the apartment so if you have knee issues this may not be for you. You really feel like you are in an Italian neighborhood even though you are a stone's throw from the Vatican. We loved spending time on the balcony. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable.
A lovely apartment, in a 1st class location. 5 mins walk to St.Peters square.
Buses 5 mins away, local shops and restaurants all 5 mins away. Nice and quiet at night.
All you need and more waiting and ready for you in the apartment, with a great view of St Peters Dome. Overall BELLO !! as the locals say!!
This apartment we rented in Rome was wonderful. Giuseppe, the owner was extremely, kind, helpful and honest. He helped us secure transportation, with a very efficient and courteous driver, from the cruise ship to the Rome apartment when we arrived, and he arranged for the same driver to pick us up and take us to the Airport when it was time to leave. The apartment was just like the photos on line. It was furnished beautifully with lots of space, plenty of cooking utensils and, from the balcony, a beautiful view of St. Peter’s Cathedral. We were actually about a quarter of a mile from St. Peter’s Square; close enough to hear the Holy Father presiding over the Sunday services from our balcony.
There were no hidden tricks with this rental. Everything described on the internet was true. We found that it was actually much nicer than the photos on the internet. The bedrooms were large with balconies overlooking an immaculately clean neighborhood. We always felt safe and secure in the community and at all hours of the evening we could walk about without feeling anxious or frightened. There was a major bus stop at the bottom of the hill and we used the busses extensively, as the system was easy to learn and understand. About a half mile away, and up a hill, was the San Petro train station which we used to travel to a beautiful beach one day. Giuseppe also linked us to a maid that came in once a week to change all the laundry and tidy up a bit. This maid service was a bargain at 16 Euros per week.
The bathroom was clean and efficient however it was subject to a small “European” shower stall. There was a hill to descend in the morning and climb at the end of the day but being so close to the Vatican, bus stops, and a number of great restaurants and gift shops more than compensated for that. The apartment was on the third floor but there was an excellent elevator. All in all this was a wonderful place to rent and we would try to rent it again whenever we go back to Rome. This was a perfect location. We planned this month long holiday for several years and being able to rent this apartment allowed us to experience the most wonderful vacation we had ever had.
Apartment is charming and well-furnished. Nice building with elevato. Giuseppe was great. Great location - Easy walk to St Peter's, Bus to other sights (On busy days, catch the #64 bus up the street around the corner before the crowds get on). Quiet, residential neighborhood. Queen-sized bed in smaller bedroom, two twins in larger bedroom. Small, but very functional dishwasher and washing machine in the apartment.

Le Mura Apartment is located near Saint Peter's Basilica and the Vatican . The name 'le Mura' was chosen because it is located along the Janiculum Walls (In Italian Mura Gianicolensi) which are a part of the defensive wall that was erected in 1643 by Pope Urban VIII in addition to the Leonine walls (in defense of the Vatican Hill), for greater protection of this portion of Rome, which extended to the right side of the Tiber.
The Janiculum is one of the best locations in Rome for a breathtaking view of the innumerable domes and bell towers that pierce the skyline of the multi-hued architectural museum. Other sights on the Janiculum include the church of San Pietro in Montorio, built upon the site formerly thought to be where St Peter was crucified; the small shrine known as the Tempietto, designed by Donato Bramante, marks the supposed site of Peter's death. The Janiculum also houses a Baroque fountain built by Pope Paul V in the late-17th century, the Fontana dell'Acqua Paola, and several foreign research institutions, including the American Academy in Rome and the Spanish Academy in Rome. The Hill is also the location of The American University of Rome, Pontifical Urban University, and Pontifical North American College, as well as the Orto Botanico dell'Università di Roma 'La Sapienza' and the Palazzo Montorio, residence of the Ambassadors of Spain.
