Well-cared for farmhouse with country cottage charm.... original paintings and sculpture throughout, extensive library, fully equipped kitchen for the gourmet cook, large comfortable living room with wood-burning fireplace, large bedrooms, one bedroom with glass sliders leading out to a large deck that overlooks the mountains, 2 1/2 baths, jacuzzi tub, inviting side porch and front patio that looks out onto Mt. Mansfield. A beautiful setting amidst gardens and pasture and yet just 5 minutes from the center of Stowe in the peaceful hamlet of Moscow. Hiking and cross-country skiing trails just a short walk from the house.. Perfect for a family of four or one or two couples. Dog friendly.
I am a retired teacher. originally from New York and so I am not an original Vermonter or what they call " a woodchuck".. From May until mid-December, I run a part of my home as a B&B called Inky Dinky Oinkink and also have a gallery on site where I exhibit my artwork. During the spring and summer months, I offer farm shares to my neighbors and supply neighboring families with vegetables, flowers and herbs for the season.
Liz Le Serviget purchased this farmhouse in 2000
I love homes that tell a story. My home served to house the owners of one of the oldest wood mills in Vermont that was located directly across the street. I have tried to maintain the feel of a country farmhouse in my choice of decoration: interior wooden shutters in the dining room and living room, antiques and original art throughout the house, well-stocked bookshelves and comfortable seating around the fireplace.
Beautiful panoramic mountain views front and back....You can see the sun setting over the highest mountain in Vermont, Mt. Mansfield, from the living room windows.
This is a very quiet area and just a five minute drive north to the center of Stowe. The location is also very convenient in that you can drive south on route 100 to I-89 without having to go through the center of Stowe. (Go 2/10 of a mile on my road and turn onto Route 100 that leads to the Interstate. Once on the Interstate, you are on a direct path to ski areas in Bolton and Mad River Valley, Montpelier and Burlington.)
My dog and I stayed at this wonderful property from Dec. 26, 2016 - Jan. 3, 2017. It was everything it was promised to be and more! Liz is one of the most gracious and warm hosts I have ever met! Arriving later in the day on a very cold, December evening, Liz had the fire all ready to go in the beautiful fireplace in the living room. A warm loaf of bread, Brie, and wine greeted me on the dining room table. Treats and fresh water greeted the pup. The house was pristine - just spotless - yet, cozy and welcoming. It truly is located only 5 minutes from the village of Stowe; yet, it is quiet and private. Located very close to a private trail, my dog and I enjoyed daily hikes where the pup could run and play off-leash. While I enjoyed cooking on the gas stove, I did venture out into the village. I particularly enjoyed dining at The Whip in Stowe - great food and service - highly recommend. I shopped at Mac's Market as you go into the village - great little market with local beer and food selections. Without question, I will return to this wonderful spot and this wonderful host. I highly recommend this house if you are seeking a cozy, quiet, dog-friendly retreat with mountain views and an impeccable host!
My property is just minutes from the Trapp Family Lodge and minutes to the center of Stowe where you will find many restaurants, shops, galleries, movie theater, health spas, golf course, bowling alley, miniature golf, indoor swimming and the recreation path for walkers and cyclists. In the winter, there are numerous cross-country ski trails nearby to explore as well as snowmobile rentals .
Other Activities: kayaking, tubing, gliding, zip line
Ski: My home is 5 minutes from the center of Stowe and from there, just 10 minutes to the ski area on Mt. Mansfield. I am also close to the ski area in Mad River Valley and Bolton.
