The house is situated in a quiet corner of the traditional village of Pano Elounda which was used for the filming of the Greek television series 'To Nisi' based on the best selling book by Victoria Hislop. The village is a heritage site and is quiet and very pretty.
The village is about an hour's drive from the airport at Heraklion and about 90 mins from the centre of Iraklio. In the main town of Elounda there are lots of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and also a doctor, pharmacy and bank. There is an excellent taverna in the village of Pano Elounda but no shops.
The house has two single sleeping couches and a double bed. The house is open plan, so is suitable for couples, small families or good friends. The bathroom has a WC, large full sized bath and over bath shower unit. There are air conditioning units both upstairs and downstairs. There is satellite TV, and a DVD player with lots of DVDs in English.
During the winter months, the house is home to Julia Jones, an English writer and artist and her work can be seen in every room of the house, adding to its character and charm.
Towels and bedlinen are changed every three days. Electricity, and water costs are included in the price. There are no cleaning fees, but on booking a deposit of 20% is required, plus a refundable breakages deposit of 60 euros.
There are three Blue Flag sandy beaches in Elounda town (about 20 mins walk from the house) and several other pebble beaches nearby. A taxi from Elounda will cost around five euros.
Car hire can be arranged with a local car hire company at a discount price. Guests can book for collection from the airport at a cost of 60 euros per journey.
