Gaziantep, previously and still informally called Antep; is a city in southeast Turkey and amongst the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world. The city is situated northeast of Adana and 127 kilometres by road north of Aleppo, Syria. Gaziantep is the sixth most populous city in Turkey. The city has two urban districts under its administration, Şahinbey and Şehitkamil. Gaziantep is famous for its regional specialities: the copper-ware products and "Yemeni" slippers, specific to the region, are two examples. The city is an economic center for Southeastern and Eastern Turkey. The city is famous for the pistacchio, in turkish Antep Fıstığı, many sorts of kebap and lahmacun and several turkish desserts like baklava, kadayıf which are also added with pistacchios.
