Stevensville House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7- 8)

The house has a beautiful view of Grande Mere. In the Grande Mere area there are miles of clean sandy beaches, unique sand dunes and woodland areas for hiking and discovering.

My house is a minute walk away from Lake Michigan with miles of public beach and dune area. Grande Mere has gorgeous sunsets and quiet mornings. You will find the peace and relaxation you are looking for, yet we are close to many Sunset Coast towns - 15 minutes to Bridgman, Sawyer, Baroda, and Harbert. Several award wining wineries, breweries, and great restaurants are close by. 20 minutes to New Buffalo and the 4 Winds Casino, also 15 minutes to the communities of Lakeside and Three Oaks. 15 minutes to St. Joseph, 20 minutes to Benton Harbor. We are located off of 1-94 exit 22. Close, but yet a world away.

What makes this house unique

I grew up in this house and have always loved the peace of the beach, woods and dunes. I had an opportunity to take my childhood home and make it a welcoming place for other families to enjoy the serenity of Grande Mere. I made several upgrades while continuing to have the charm that the house and yard can offer. People tell me they feel so at home and welcomed when they are here. My hopes is that you will feel the same way. Randi Wilhelmsen

Lovely and well-appointed home

  • 4 of 5

This spacious home has been in the owner's family for 60+ years and is obviously well-loved. There was plenty of room for the 5 of us, whether enjoying the deck in the morning, sitting around an evening bonfire at the AMAZING fire pit, having dinner around the huge dining room table or relaxing in the comfy family room. Beautiful Lake Michigan beach a few walkable minutes away and a short drive to St. Joseph and other local treasures. We did a Winery Tour and it was GREAT!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your response. My house is close enough to amazing wineries and new breweries, there are several tours that will take people to these. When you come back form the tour relax in front of the bonfire with your friends! I am so glad that your group was able to take advantage of the opportunities of the lake walks too and visiting near-by towns.

Great girls get away or family vacation home

  • 5 of 5

This house is perfect for a girl’s getaway or family vacation. Within a few steps to the beach it's nicely secluded and centrally located to the towns, shops and wineries in the area. Randi has done a wonderful job with making sure everything is provided and you feel at home. The kitchen is well stocked with pretty pastel dishes and plenty of pots, pans and utensils. The colors in the bedrooms are both cheerful and relaxing, the beds are very comfy, and each room has a ceiling fan which was nice for providing a cool breeze.

If like us you enjoy knitting while relaxing in the evening than you’ll appreciate the well placed lamps in the family room. Seeing your handy work will never be an issue. There is a remote controlled gas fire place which added a warm cozy atmosphere while we worked on a puzzle. That was a nice bonus feature! If you prefer, the dining room has a large dining table too for the family to play games or work on puzzles.

A new large deck with a grill and dining set is on one side of the house and on the opposite side is a lovely covered porch that runs the length of the house. It’s perfect for relaxing while sipping on a glass of wine after a day of touring the town. While enjoying your wine you can watch the bluejays and woodpeckers or be amused by the antics of the numerous chipmunks scurrying around the yard. If you enjoying star gazing, sitting around the fire pit will provide an amazing view unspoiled by city lights.

We loved the old charm feel the home has. It reminded all of us of our Grandparents homes yet it has modern touches. From the large country style foyer that greets you as you enter the house to the personal touches Randi has added this home says welcome…relax, unwind, enjoy. We will be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review Edith. I recently had the fireplace upgraded to remote control for my guests to enjoy the ambiance of a fire with ease. The house had been in my family for over 60 years and I have worked hard to make the house a comfortable, peaceful spot to relax but yet close enough to so many wonderful activities to enjoy in Southwestern Michigan. I hope to have you and your guests back soon!

Great house within walking distance of the beach and Grand Mere State Park. It rained in the evening, so we weren't able to take advantage of the amazing fire pit, but hope to return next year to do so. Very spacious. The dining room has a very large table; perfect for playing board games. The living room has lots of windows to enjoy the view. Also, great deck off the kitchen. We'll be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you Karen for writing such a wonderful review. Yes the dining room has a large comfortable table. I keep a few board games and puzzles at the house, but people are always welcomed to bring their own! Sorry Mother Nature didn't co-operate for a bonfire experience. I hope to see you back soon!

This house is large and completely furnished with everything that we needed for a great stay.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. It has so much character, with beautiful woodwork, comfortable furnishings, and landscaped grounds. It is so peaceful, with deer coming into the yard, and the sound of waves breaking on Lake Michigan. You will find a fire pit, plenty of chairs on the front porch, and a great grill on the back deck; wood and propane are supplied. The house also has all of the modern conveniences including very reliable wi-fi service. There are plenty of linens, towels, kitchen utensils, and dishes, as well as a dishwasher and well-stocked laundry room. There are two fireplaces in the house; however both were out of service during our stay. We appreciated the maps and tour guides, listing things to see in the area. There is a view of Middle Lake in Grand Mere State Park, visible through the trees. It is a short walk to a Lake Michigan public beach, which requires a hike down a small sand dune to get to the beach. There is also beach access within Grand Mere, along with plenty of hiking opportunities. Beaches at New Buffalo and St. Joseph are fairly close and provide easier access to the lake. Bridgman has a nice golf course and New Buffalo has a very nice market. We enjoyed the Sawyer Garden Center and eating at the Red Arrow Roadhouse. We would recommend this beautiful "home away from home" and look forward to coming back for another week in 2017.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. The house is a peaceful retreat away from everyday life. I did get the living room fireplace fixed (actually yesterday) with a remote starter, and its wonderful! I will see about the dining room fireplace getting the same in the future. Thank you for other suggestions for guests to enjoy! I hope to see you back soon!

Perfect lake house for all.

  • 5 of 5

This large, roomy home has been well cared for and obviously loved. It's like stepping back in time, yet it has all the modern conveniences, from a digital HVAC system to excellent wi-fi. It's well furnished and comfortable, with lots of room to entertain. Everything you might need is provided, too. We are an older couple with small Papillon dogs, and we loved the home. It would be equally great for families and girls' trips, and couples traveling together. There's one bedroom and bathroom downstairs and two bedrooms and a bath upstairs. The beds are comfortable, and There are plenty of linens.

The grounds are lovely, too. There's a grand stone fire pit, and a deck/porch off the kitchen in the back with a barbeque grill for cooking on a nice night. We look forward to returning to this "home away from home," and we highly recommend it!

Charming, roomy, comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this lovely home on the hill near Lake Michigan and beaches. It is large, comfy, and so well equipped. It is within easy access to St. Joe and to beaches. This is a secluded, quiet area, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We hope to return before too long. Since we lived in this area for 13 years, but left 8 years ago, this was a chance to reunite with many friends, with plenty of room to entertain, too! There are many excellent restaurants nearby, when you want to go out. Three excellent bakeries are near as well - Bit o' Swiss, Sandra Kay's and the Flour Shop. A deck off the kitchen would be great for cooking out in nice weather. Regardless of weather, this house has a very modern heating/air-conditioning system and ceiling fans, too. It's a perfect place to stay, and our small Papillons loved the yard and surroundings.

The house is ready for you!! All you need to bring is clothes, food and beverages!! The house has a unique charm that is vintage, but with continuing updates. The house has a unique cathedral ceiling and a working stone fireplace in the living room.
