Luxury one bedroom apartment in the most exclusive area

Stylish and high end apartment to let, very well located in an historical area in Madrid centre, in the most exclusive district of the city, with modern commodities and lift.

Stylish and high end apartment to let, very well located in an historical area in the centre of Madrid a few steps away from the well-known Serrano street, in the most exclusive area of the city, with modern commodities, lift and doorman.

This charming one bedroom apartment is extremely quiet and is very well located in the very best part of the Salamanca District, the area allows visitors to be very close the best areas for eating and shopping in Madrid, and is walking distance from some of the most important art museums like the Prado and the Thyssen-Bornemisza. A few steps away from the Retiro park, is perfect for exercise conscious clients and runners who want to keep training. A cozy and carefully decorated apartment in one of Madrid’s most privileged areas. Decorated in a comfortable minimalist style and bright colors. You enter directly into the living room and dining area that has a window to a courtyard, which has a comfortable sofa, an armchair and a flat TV with cable service. To the right there’s a fully equipped kitchen and a large bathroom in marble with bathtub and shower. To the left side of the apartment is located a spacious and bright bedroom with a double queen sized bed (1,50 x 2,00m) with two windows over the courtyard and a wide closet.

The up scale and exclusive neighborhood of Salamanca is one of the most desired areas in all of Madrid to call home. Its wide and tree-lined streets are set out on a modern grid system that makes it one of the easiest areas of the capital to navigate and explore. Built around the three wide avenues of Serrano, Principe de Vergara and Goya, the streets of Salamanca are lined with exclusive boutiques, international fashion houses and sophisticated bars and cafés. Many of Madrid’s best and most expensive restaurants can be found in and around Salamanca, offering a fine dining experience that rivals that of any other European capital. One of the most famous streets in the entire city, Calle Serrano starts at the Plaza de Independencia, home to the symbolic Puerta de Alcalá and the main entrance to Retiro Park.

Salamanca District and Madrid: Madrid population at the beginning of the 19th century was about 220.000, increasing to 300.000 inhabitants in the late 1850s. However, the city was still enclosed within the defensive wall built in 1625 by king Philip IV of Spain, which blocked the city growth. In 1857, government allowed the then minister of public works and transportation Claudio Moyano to expand the city. Queen Isabella II allowed so in 1860 and the defensive walls were torn down in order to built the first Madrilian ensanche. Don José de Salamanca, Marquess of Salamanca gave his name to the area because of his involvement in the project.

Since then, the Salamanca district has been one of the most representative areas for bourgeois madrileños. Marqués de Salamanca Square separates the wealthy area from the more popular parts of the district. Nowadays, the Salamanca district is one of the wealthiest areas in Madrid and some of its streets, such as Goya or Serrano are part of the most expensive streets in Spain.

Madrid: Due to its economic output, standard of living, and market size, Madrid is considered the major financial centre of the Iberian Peninsula; it hosts the head offices of the vast majority of the major Spanish companies, as well as the headquarters of three of the world's 100 largest companies.

While Madrid possesses a modern infrastructure, it has preserved the look and feel of many of its historic neighbourhoods and streets. Its landmarks include the huge Royal Palace of Madrid; the Teatro Real (Royal theatre) with its restored 1850 Opera House; the Buen Retiro park, founded in 1631; the imposing 19th-century National Library building (founded in 1712) containing some of Spain's historical archives; an archaeological museum; and three superb art museums: Prado Museum, which hosts one of the finest art collections in the world, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, a museum of modern art, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, housed in the renovated Villahermosa Palace.

It has everything one needs, is very clean and located close to the main city center tourist areas. You can walk to most sightseeing, easily hop onto the tours buses and access the subway if needed. Excellent Location. Excellent Service

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this apartment was great!

To begin with, the booking and coordination process with Gabriel was very smooth. Then, our arrival was very late on a Saturday night and when we got to the apartment, there he was, waiting for us. The apartment was in perfect condition. The location is excellent, just two blocks from Parque El Retiro, one block from Serrano street, and a short distance to El Prado and other museums.

We highly recommend it and will likely return in the near future!

Great location

  • 4 of 5

The location of this apartment within Madrid seems quite close to perfect. First, you can take the Cercanias train line C-1 from the airport (terminal 4) to the Recoletos station, which is only a few steps away from the apartment. Secondly, the apartment is located in the nicest neighbourhood of Madrid, Salamanca, in walking distance of the nice shopping avenues of Serrano, Velazquez and Recoletos. And yet just on the other side of Recoletos, you have access to the cool areas of Malasana and Chueca, Gran Via and the city center. It is also beside the Retiro park, which is a gem, ideal for joggers and for those who want to contrast the hectic pace of the city with the calm of a classic and large park. The Prado is very close as well.

Though the short Calle del Cid is perhaps not the city's most beautiful street, the apartment building has perfectly reputable neighbours: on one side the chic Asian restaurant 'Le Dragon' and on the other, Spain's foreign assistance organization, the CDTI. On the opposing side of the street, a club for 'cougars' seems to have been around for a while.

The apartment itself is very well laid out. It is Ikea-furnished and equipped. The sofa and living room chairs show some signs of the passage of previous guests, but those are minor issues. The television has many channels and to see the movies in the original language, one presses the 'OK' button and right arrow until the choice appears (could be explained on a plasticized sheet on the coffee table). There is WiFi Internet, but it is a good idea to bring an Ethernet cable just in case your computer can't connect to the modem (as was my case).

The apartment is on the second floor of a 4-5 story building and the windows face an inner light shaft that is maybe 4 meters square, so the natural light that enters the apartment is mostly indirect. This might not sound ideal to most, however the up-side is that the apartment is quiet. One sleeps rather undisturbed nights on the twin bed.

In terms of supermarkets, the best is undoubtedly the one in the basement of the Corte Ingles on Serrano. An easy way to access it is to take the bus up Velazquez get off at Ortega y Gasset, walk to Serrano, do your groceries, and travel back down Serrano on the bus until the National Library stop which is steps away from the apartment.

The owner, Gabriel, provided good customer service.

Great location, very quiet and convenient to Metro

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was just perfect for my daughter and me for a quick visit to Madrid to see a relative. The flat is clean, comfortable, nicely furnished and equipped. It is a short walk to several Metro stops (different lines) making it very convenient to get around, as well a quick walk to the Retiro Park. We took the Expres Aeropuerto Bus to Plaza de Cibeles (~45 minutes) and when we left, took the Metro from Serrano to Linea 8 (Pink) to the airport, also ~40 minutes.

Best of all, it was very quiet, a necessity for the jet-lagged traveler.

We definitely recommend the flat and also recommend renting through flatweethome (Gabriel and Jacob). They have other flats they manage as well, are accommodating and helpful.

Lastly, thank you Jacob for recommending Mercado San Miguel. We would have missed it had you not suggested it to us.

The apartment is in a perfect and very safe location. It is modern, clean and comfortable. Very homey! Excellent for one, a couple or a couple with small children. (Not 2 couples). I would definitely stay there again when in Madrid.

I especially liked that it was so close to Calle Serrano, a lovely street

with beautiful stores and many cafes. Plus easy to walk most anywhere

to sightsee. Gabriel was most friendly and helpful. Highly recommend

this apartment.
