Wonderful cabin centrally located

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was great for our family of four. With four bedrooms and the extra half bath there was plenty of room for everyone. It's located near the South Lake Safeway, the city sports and rec center, and bowling. It's a short walk to the lake, and close to our family's favorite beach Zephyr Cove, just across stateline. The backyard deck is a lovely place for having your morning coffee.

Nice family getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family 8 plus our puppy enjoyed our stay very well. Nice little cabin with a beautiful and big backyard. Prefect to lay on grass to get a little sun kissed. Jacuzzi was very relaxing after a long day. We walked to the lake which was just about a ten minute walk. It was nice to see bunnies, chipmunks and squirrels just running around the area. Nice family getaway.

Quaint cabin, great backyard!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Aspenhall for three nights in the summer. The cabin is more on the rustic side with some antiques and slightly rickety staircase to upstairs. The backyard was well fenced in and perfect for our dog to run around safely. The hot tub was great too.

We did have a few problems - wrong key box code when we arrived - had to wait 30 minutes for onsite person to respond with the correct code; the power went out the first night and all appliances were out due to GFI outlets; hot tub cover had hole and was like wrestling a beast to get back on - the owner was responsive and called us to get everything working correctly.

One note: if you have small mobile children - the stairs are open and somewhat scary for little ones. I would be nervous to have them stay upstairs. Also, only queen bed was upstairs in tiny room - not ideal. Plus the mattress was lumpy. There is a half-bath upstairs, but it is 'hobbit sized' so don't plan on anyone but the kids using this. The downstairs bath was large and roomy, so our family of 6 just shared it no problem.

Kitchen was well-stocked, wi-fi was great, leather chairs in family room are very comfy. Good cable TV, close to everything in South Lake, and affordable. We will probably stay again!

Owner's Response: I feel the need to address the use of the word "rickety", because it implies that the stairway is unstable and unsafe. Granted it is narrow, but it is solid and firmly anchored.
