Family gathering couldn't have been better

  • 5 of 5

Finally got my 80+ year-old parents and all my siblings and their families together. We met up at this house and did not know what to expect. It was big, comfortable, roomy, and beautiful. With the fireplace and the wood stove, I would guess it would be warm and cozy in the winter time.

Everything works great. There were extra of everything... blankets, pillows, kitchen stuff. Ton of firewood. We had the fire pit going every nights. Gathering around the fire with the family was awesome.

Had 2 complaints, but neither is the owner's faults. Cell signal was terrible. Wifi is slow. Although we could still stream youtube and netflix, when I wanted to remote into home camera security system, the speed was not sufficient. For the techies, uplink was 0.3 mips and downlink was 0.5-0.7 mips. Again, this is just my issue realizing that most people gets away to the pocono does not care about the internet.

Second complaint: The lake is small and not clean enough to swim. But the fishing was good eventhough it's just catch and release. Again, this is not the owner's fault. The boat house is clean. We had the 2 kayaks out. We even got the big 4-man boat out on the lake. We bought an extra 3-man inflatable boat. We had a lot of fun.

Down by the lake, we set up a 12x12 pop-up cover, set up 2 hammocks and left them there the entire time. No one bothered it so the area is very safe.

We did some rafting with chamberlain. That was great. Went to see a couple waterfalls. But mostly hang by the house. It was comfortable that 5 families gathered with 2 elders, 7 of middle-aged, 3 college kids, a 10-year-old and a 4-year-old; were comfortable. We did not feel that we had to step on anyone at any time.

Overall, it was a great experience and we had a great time. The owner was very courteous and accommodating. Communication was great although we never called or needed any helps. Deposit was promptly returned in full. We did forget a chromecast which will be sent to us shortly by the owner. I would definitely return to this house if we decide to do this again. I would strongly recommend this house and the owner. This is how all house rental should be.

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't really do it justice. We were very pleasantly surprised by how nice the house was. I guess considering the price-point, we were expecting something frumpy - but this was certainly not the case. This is a great bang for your buck. The large, open living room, in particular, is just an excellent space. The path down to the lake directly across from the property made for fun days of kayaking and boating. It's far enough away to feel secluded (the community was very, very quiet during our visit), but it's still quite close to a large town (8 mins or so) offering all of the necessities. Some museums dot the outerlying areas, and there is a really great shooting range nearby. Also a Casino 10-15 mins away.

Interactions with the property owners went smoothly. No issues with booking, and no issues with security deposit. They were very accommodating. We expect to return to this property again soon.

Lovely family friendly chalet in a beautiful, quiet setting

  • 5 of 5

Clean, well-kept, older style chalet. My party of five and I had an amazing stay. The private lakeside access allowed for us to spend our days by the lake in privacy where we enjoyed lunchtime picnics. The kayaks provided allowed for easy fishing and a lot of fun. I will definitely be returning in the future.

Great place near Camelback resort!

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely place to stay. The pictures really don't do it justice. It was clean, cozy, and charming with plenty of space for 10-12 people. We enjoyed games like chess and Jenga, and your DVD collection was fantastic. We were at Camelback resort in 14 minutes and there were plenty of nearby restaurants. Thank you for accommodating us last minute! We will be back for sure!

Great value, excellent location!

  • 5 of 5

A large group of friends and I were looking for a weekend away that would not break the bank or require anyone to travel too far from where they live (NYC and Philadelphia). It took all parties about two hours to get where they were coming from (until you hit GW Bridge traffic getting back to NYC). The house is very nice and spacious and the outdoor areas are great for grilling and hanging around on the deck. Though nicely located in a pushed back quiet neighborhood, house is a just a short ride from Tannersville where you can find any and all supplies, food and drink you may need. I highly recommend the house for any group, large or small, friends and/or family. There are more the enough beds (and couches) for everyone to sleep comfortably and not feel like they are all over one another. The landlord was very gracious, leaving sheets on all beds and allowing us to use the grill and his dishes -- of which there are plenty. He responds quickly to email and leaves very detailed instructions for use of his house...I highly recommend this house for your next Poconos getaway. I know I will.
