About the property

Trehanoo House and Annexe

Trehanoo house and completely separate bungalow cottage annexe are situated in Polzeath on the beautiful North Cornwall coast. It is the perfect accommodation to enjoy this famous holiday area.

Trehanoo house accommodates 8 people in 4 comfortable bedrooms with a large dining kitchen and sitting room with 2 big sofas. It has a good sized family bathroom upstairs, a great shower wet room downstairs and an outdoor hot shower with a stainless steel rack for hanging out wetsuits to dry.

It is set in a large garden with beautiful rural views of St Minver and lowlands in the foreground and the Bodmin moor peaks of Roughtor and Brown Willy in the distance. The lawned garden incorporates a terrace with teak loungers and raised decking off the kitchen with teak dining table and chairs.

There is ample parking space.

The totally separate annexe accommodates 4/5 people and is set in its own lawned garden. patio and parking for 2 cars. It has 2 bedrooms, an open plan kitchen/sitting room with a sofa bed, 2 arm chairs with a dining table, and a bathroom with short bath and electric shower over..

Whilst at Trehanoo you could holiday for the week and never get in your car. The house and annexe are a 7 minute walk to Polzeath beach and the same to the coast path. From the coast path you can either walk the pretty way to the surfing beach of Polzeath, or head towards Greenaway (a 10 minutes walk), Daymer (a 15 minute walk) or Rock (a 45 minute walk).

Polzeath has a great Spar shop and offers fish and chips, pasties, pizza and ice cream as well as some great surf and clothing shops and a gallery.

Greenaway is a wonderful place for rock pooling when the tide is out and the hours just drift past as you become totally absorbed in shrimping, crabbing and fishing.

Daymer Bay has a large car park that is very reasonable to park in all day and is sandcastle heaven and one of the best windsurfing spots in the country. At low water it has a vast beach.

Rock beach has several pubs/restaurants with wonderful views over the Camel estuary, great shops and also has sailing and a sailing/ powerboat school, water skiing and a waterski school, fishing trips and the ferry to Padstow.

There are also 2 golf courses within 2 miles of Trehanoo, St Enedoc and The Point at Polzeath (ex Roserrow).

Why Kate Buckingham chose Polzeath

Trehanoo House is our family holiday home and as such we keep it set up for ease of use for 8 people on holiday. We keep it up to date. We spend a month in the winter there ourselves, decorating, updating and adding to the comfort and ease of having a holiday in the house. I ask for feedback from tenants and, where possible, include them in next year’s update. Any problems are dealt with immediately by either myself or Jackie the housekeeper.

What makes this house unique

A hot shower when you arrive back from a surf is a joy; you can rinse your wetsuit off whilst still in it and peel it off whilst under the hot water and then hang it up on the purpose made wetsuit rack. Then quickly into the house for a proper shower in the wet room.

'We love this house, you've kitted it out so well'

A wonderful all-weather retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our second visit to Trehanoo; after last year's fantastically wet and cold week, the girls all voted to return this year, and at the end of this year's stay, warmer than last year but rainy and with Hale Bay devoid of teenage nightlife, the girls (who had managed to conjure a crowd of friends from thin air each night) agreed it was the best week ever and we all look forward to next year. I like the idea of being able to use the garden to dine in and to recline on those wonderful hammocks but it is a testament to the house that it creates such an amazingly good atmosphere in a wet July!

Owner's Response: Thanks for a lovely review. I sit at my desk feeling awful for the poor tenants, in yet another awful wet summer, so it really is great that you still manage to have such a good holiday.

Perfect family home from home.

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent stay at trehanoo house, everything was exactly as listed and the house comfortably accommodated our family with ample space and extremely well stocked kitchen and living areas. The location is excellent just a stones throw from the very popular oystercatcher pub/restaurant. Flowers and prosecco on arrival was a lovely touch and a special thank you to housekeeper Jackie for accommodating us with some babysitting. I would have no hesitation in recommending trehanoo house to anyone and hope to return in the near future.

Great house for large family /friends

  • 4 of 5

This suited our family of 8 adults and one baby very well. All bedrooms are spacious so nobody feels they have drawn the short straw and the open plan kitchen diner was great. Loved the surf and the walks.

Great venue for a ffamily gathering

  • 4 of 5

This house suited our family very well. We were 4 couples and one baby. All the rooms were big enough so no one felt they had the short straw on the bedrooms. Mostly single beds but can be pushed together. Comfy mattresses. Great to have an outside shower as it was a family surfing weekend living old memories of camping in Polzeath. A 5 min walk to the beach and a steep climb up the hill back but you warm up on the way home! Plenty of cooking utensils as we always eat in. We particularly enjoyed the big open plan kitchen/diner which we congregated in. Lounge was used for those that wished to escape the crowd. Would have given five stars if the decor/furniture was smarter but we don't mind about that at all.

Owner's Response: Thank for the great review, Lesley. Your comment about Trehanoo not being smart made me laugh, Trehanoo is definitely not ‘smart’ , hopefully people will not think that means it is tatty.

Perfect Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Trehanoo is like a home from home, it has all the equipment needed for a comfortable stay and more. The house is a fantastic size so that with 8 people you don't feel like you're on top of one another. It's in a lovely location with great walks over the cliffs to St Enedoc or down to Polzeath beach or a short drive to gorgeous villages such as Boscastle and Tintagel. A fantastic break!
