About Linda Lange
I am the owner's daughter, grandaughter to Del and Mary Layton, and I manage the property for my mother. I grew up in Miami and came to the Keys often as a child with my grandparents, spending many summers here with them. I remember fondly the 'long' drives down on the rough roads and the rattling draw bridges in the back seat of the Chevorlet Impala with Pat, the family dog. After marrying and having two sons, we continued coming down to see my grandparents each chance we could, bringing friends and church groups to enjoy our blessings. Mary and Del were gracious, enjoyed people and were loved by all that knew them. I hope to continue sharing the joy that the Layton House has brought to so many over the years as families and friends build lasting memories.
Why Linda Lange chose Layton
This property has been passed down from my grandfather, Del Layton, to his daughter, Aileen Howard. He founded this little piece of paradise in the Middle Keys after selling his grocery business in Miami in the late 1940's to follow his dream. You can read the history in his biography, Pioneer in the Florida Keys. The property is very spacious, tranquil and private.
What makes this Estate unique
The Layton property is one of the most beautiful in the Florida Keys with views of the Bay, gorgeous changing sunsets, and swaying palm trees from the many windows in the home. The huge kitchen with a large semi-circular bar area is the gathering place for young and old to cook, eat and enjoy each other's company. Pictures displayed around the home recall moments from the past. The large circular fresh-water pool, surrounded with native landscaping, is a fantastic place to unwind and relax before grilling your catch and having dinner in the tiki.

A private resort only for us!
I just want to say how much we enjoyed staying at the Layton Key house! It was amazing. It was a private resort. MRS Linda is so inviting, kind, personal, professional and polite. We hated to leave but spring break was coming to an end. We read the book about your grandfather's life. It was an incredible adventure he and his wife made. Glad he had the gusto to be a human to better the USA instead of complain or get by. We just wanted to thank you for opening up your house to us. Mark us down for around the same time next year.
Thank So So Much!
Amazing week. And Linda is a gem!!!!!!
Paradise in the Keys
You can read all the reviews, but words alone cannot begin to describe this spectacular rental. Upon arrival, you are immediately greeted with a breathtaking view of palm trees, water, and the most beautiful blue skies imaginable. The house is immaculate, spacious, and filled with all the modern conveniences one could imagine with the best feature being the huge kitchen and dining/entertainment area. We grilled outside in the gazebo and later watched sunsets while sitting in the Adirondack chairs. Our two favorite features were fishing off the dock and swimming/relaxing in the pool. Linda, the owner, helped us secure rentals of kayaks, paddle boards, and a small boat to use throughout the week. Linda was so attentive to making sure our stay was comfortable and relaxing- she even greeted us with homemade banana bread with coconut cream cheese filling….yum! We had a fantastic week….did some charter fishing, ate lots of fresh fish, visited Key West, relaxed…….can’t wait to return to this piece of Paradise!
Perfect is the only word for this home
This home was the perfect place to stay for a visit to the Keys. It totally lived up to it's billing- Every need was anticipated, the pool large and inviting and the setting lovely. We walked outside and immediately spotted sea turtles swimming, rays, fish, even manatees! A perfect place to kayak. The owner was very welcoming and gracious. We'll be back!

Jeb and Susie,
It was a pleasure having you and the kids at the Layton House for your spring break. I am so pleased you and the children were able to enjoy kayaking and fishing off the dock with a variety of fish and wildlife to experience. I am equally happy that the boat rental from Islamorada Watersports Co. worked out well for you. Feel free to come back any time your schedule permits. Have a blessed spring/summer.
Very spacious property with something for everyone
The property is great with the kids enjoying fishing off the dock, kayaking, wading the ocean and the pool when the weather cooperated. We enjoyed our morning coffee in the gazebo and our evenings near the ocean with the out door fire pit. Linda was a very nice and gracious host. We enjoyed meeting her and learning about the house and surrounding property. Jim and Elyce
