This property was chosen for a group of 6 as a base for 3 nights to explore the surrounding area by car. On arrival we were all astounded as to how immaculate this property was inside and out. It has everything that you could wish for. Set in the perfect location, It has amazing mountain views and it was such a pleasure to relax in the hot tub during the evening with a nice cold drink. We were even fortunate enough to experience the northern lights on 2 out of 3 of the nights, which completely put the icing on the cake and I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone. The whole stay was an absolute pleasure and an unforgettable experience all round.
This is a truly fantastic house in a great location with fantastic views. Spacious, very clean and well-equipped, it certainly feels warm and just like home for the time you’re there. We spend most of our holiday exploring the south coast of Iceland, which is a truly stunning place with lots to see, and then the evenings back at the house chilling, cooking, drinking wine and looking out for the northern lights. Even if you don’t get to see the lights themselves the stars are amazing.
Rikhardur was a great host, giving very simple and straightforward instructions to the house and checking all was well. We were a party of five and we all highly recommend this house.
Cannot recommend this place enough. Words won't do it justice. One of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed. The outside was Iceland at it's finest. Horses dotting the rolling plains, mountains and glaciers easily spotted in the distance, the massive blue sky so close you could almost reach out and touch it. Breakfast on the porch was an unreal experience. Incredible interior decorating, modern, sleek, but also cozy and comforting. The sunroom off the back of the house provided an incredible view while sipping coffee or winding down with a glass of wine. An interesting path off the road to actually get to the house, but the seclusion was very nice. Perfectly situated for an itinerary that includes the southern coast coming from Reykjavik or Keflavik. Would stay here 100 times over. Highly highly recommended!
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home! The house has a great layout that I hope to one day incorporate into my own home someday. The large windows provided great views of the mountains. We were lucky to have two beautiful clear nights to see the aurora borealis so early in the season. The friendly horses were an added bonus!
Our expectations were exceeded by far when we arrived. It is a wonderful house, very clean and beautifully equipped. Nothing is missing. The views to Eyafjallajökull, Hekla or Westman islands are excellent, we enjoyed the outdoor jacuzzi every day. The location is ideally for excursions all over southern iceland. We stayed for 6 days but it should have been longer. For sure we will come back some day.
Very beautiful cottage with huge windows overlooking peaceful pastures. Island visible offshore way in the distance. All by itself yet close to the main road. It is possible to drive to Jokulsarlon and back in one day (about 3 hours each way). Close to beautiful waterfalls nearby and the ferry. Next time we will allocate much more time on the south coast - it is spectacular! One morning we saw an arctic fox cross the lawn, and always enjoyed seeing the horses grazing.
