About James Lovett
I am an avid outdoor enthusiast who relishes in the natural beauty of this region. I spend most of my free time fishing, surfing and mountain biking. When I moved here almost fifteen years ago, I felt that I had discovered a place that was truly special. I strive to provide that same experience for every guest that chooses Fern Hook.
James Lovett purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why James Lovett chose Crescent City
I bought this piece of raw land, with the sole intention of creating a vacation experience unique to Hiouchi. its location is centralized to conveniently experience all of the areas attractions. All the while providing private wooded settings for multiple deluxe cabins.

Beautiful cabin, clean, fresh, professional
We enjoyed very much our stay here in this cabin. There is only 1 reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. There is no vent-a-hood over the stove/oven. In the morning when I cooked a nice breakfast for our family, the smoke detectors/alarms went off constantly. There was no vent for me to turn on. My family had to get dressed and go outside while I cooked with my ears ringing!!!!!!
Other than that.... it was a nice place to stay.
Truly sorry that the lack of a vent hood was the deciding factor for enjoyment of your stay. We did everything in our power to provide all the amenities of a full size home in a compact format. Unfortunately, a vent hood is unable to fit in the allotted space over a 24" wide range. The microwave itself is undersized. Most people open the window right above to vent the smoke of burning food. Very unfortunate, that a detail like that ruined your time! I am doing everything in my power to remedy this problem for future guests. Thank you for your feedback!
Cabin was fresh, clean and modern
The cabin was nice. New floor and entire cabin felt new/clean. No dish washer, but a little elbow grease and it’s all good. Could use a fire place... seems odd for a cabin in the woods not to have a fire place. Over all a nice place to stay.
Our family of four spend one night in late March. We loved the setting of the cabin. Our only complaint was it was rather cold, especially in the back room and bathroom. However, the beds were comfortable and the blankets kept us warm at night. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a unique stay.
Very nice, new cabin and beautiful wooded setting.
Nice, clean and private.
The cabin was new, and clean. It was easy to find and quiet even though it was close to the highway. Because it was recently painted, there was paint odor, the only thing, so just opened windows and turned on the heat 👍
