About Gloria Woerheide
I am a computer software consultant. This house was my primary residence when I moved to the New London area from Chicago. I love the area and would not have moved out, except that I bought a larger house to turn into a bed and breakfast inn.
Gloria Woerheide purchased this House in 1996
Why Gloria Woerheide chose New London
Originally I came to the area for work and to live by the water. As time passed, I became more and more aware of all of the interesting things to do in the area. As the casinos grew, they brought in more and more first class entertainers and live sporting events. Being from Chicago I am accustomed to having many entertainment choices. In an area like New London County, you wouldn't think you would find the same level of entertainment, but because of the casinos you do. I count myself lucky to have found this place. So much so, that I plan to retire here one day.
What makes this House unique
We have 6 bedrooms on 3 floors. Older children and teens love our third floor because it has a couch/futon,TV with cassette player, and cartoon and movie tapes, and can be closed off from the rest of the house. Some have referred to it as their fort because of the vaulted ceiling. The backyard is fenced, which is great if you have small children or dogs. On the first floor, our miniature dachshunds used to love chasing each other from the living room, through the kitchen, to the dining room and sitting area, and back to the living room without stopping. We have bookshelves with board games, several versions of Trivia, a few children's books, a few novels, and lots of magazines. If you take a paperback book or magazine, we ask that you leave one for others to read. If you have magazines or paperbacks you are finished with, you can leave them with us for others to enjoy. We could also use some more children's books, board games, and VCR or DVD movies suitable for children. We sometimes live in the house in the winter months so our kitchen is fully equipped.

Convenient, large house
The house is well sized and great for a big group, while still having a lot of separate rooms for couples, etc. We had 10 people staying there comfortably. The location is convenient - close to the beaches and also to the cute old town of Mystic. There are also plenty of cafes and restaurants near the house. Would recommend for big groups.
Beautiful home, steps from the beach!
We could not have found a better place our a more gracious hostess. Gloria made me smile and her home was the PERFECT place for my daughter's Bachlorette/girls weekend... The house had everything you need, close to the beach, casino , and local stores... Plenty of room for everyone too spread out, sleep and yes...Rock out to Kareoke .... We are already planning another get away....Bryt's mom and friends
Perfect for our family
Right near lovely beaches. Spacious and comfortable. Our two Yorkies were welcome - without that we don't go anywhere.
Just what we were looking for!
My friends and I had an awesome time staying at Gloria's place for a long weekend in the beginning of June. Gloria's place was quite spacious, had ample parking, was close to the beach, and was family friendly (lots of board games/kids toys, fenced in back yard, etc). Gloria was very easy to work with and always responded to my email questions in a very timely manner. We will absolutely be renting again in the near future! Thank you for such a great vacation Gloria:)
Love it. Thank you Gloria.
The house was beautiful. Had more than enough room. Very comfy. Will visit again
Thank-you, Gloria, for the opportunity to rent your lovely, vintage home at the beginning of October to attend a family wedding at the nearby Eugene O'Neill Theatre Campus. Everything was spic and span. The layout and furnishing of your rooms was perfect for our large group from Ireland. There were pretty table-linens and dishes for the rehearsal-dinner, stacks of extra, guest- towels in the bathrooms and the full-length mirror was much appreciated on The Big Day! Kitchen and laundry-room were fully equiped. Wi-fi and TV kept us in contact with work and news. The neighbours were nice and the locality is tranquil. The private beach is a few minutes walk away. We look forward to coming back soon!
We are located in Southeastern Connecticut, close to lighthouses (water tours available), Mystic CT, the US. Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Submarine Force Museum, Eolia Mansion at Harkness Park, Connecticut College Arboretum, Foxwoods Casino, and Mohegan Sun Casino (my favorite). We are about an hour from Newport, RI. and half way between Boston and New York. Other Activities: Bring your own kayak Golf: You can play golf in a natural wooded setting near Foxwoods casino at Foxwoods Golf and Country Club at Boulder Hills or the new Lake of Isles course which Golf Digest and GOLF Magazine called 'One of the Best New Upscale Public Courses'.
