About Marcia Barnett

Our family lived on the Cape for 3 years when daughter Amelia was 2. We love the water and especially St. Joseph Bay. It is one of very few bays of this size in the country that is 100% salt water. We love kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, skiing, and the clear skies at night. Our dog especially loves kayaking and whines endlessly if we launched without her. I eventually resettled in South Florida and my Amelia is now attends a fine arts college in NYC. But the Cape will always be a special to us - there is no other place like it. If you've been there, you know. If you haven't, you're in for a treat. I have put lots of TLC in Amelia by the Bay and hope you'll give it a try.

Marcia Barnett purchased this house in 1999

Why Marcia Barnett chose Florida Panhandle

Privacy, natural surroundings, and easy access to the bay and beach.

What makes this house unique

Very Private, fishing off of the dock, kayaking and scolloping in the bay. Very well-kept by myself and my wonderful innkeeper, Cathy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful week at Amelia on the Bay. I can't say enough about the beauty of the surroundings, tastefully decorated clean home, well-equipped kitchen, provision of beach towels (they take up a lot of room if you are flying in!). The house is spacious- we had 4 people but easily could have accommodated more. The kitchen was a joy to cook in with great pots and pans, lot of dishes and glassware. There were some helpful pantry essentials available- salt and pepper, cooking oil, spices, coffee filters, sugar. Wonderful access to the bay and the screen house, and the walk to the gulf beach is easy as well. Having kayaks and SUP included to use at the house was a huge savings and very fun- last year we stayed at the state park and rented this equipment and it was quite expensive. Proximity to the state park is nice, the bike/ walking trail is right down the driveway (although we could never hear traffic). For those who want to still be tuned in, there is internet and TV, a land line, and good cell phone service. Marcia was delightful to deal with from booking, to confirming, to letting us know the house was available a little longer if we wanted it. I coordinated this trip for me and my husband, and another couple, and they have already asked that I book again for next year.

Always a wonderful stay!

My husband and I began staying at Amelia by the Bay several years ago. We fell in love with the property and the gorgeous view of the bay and the amazing pier with the scallop shaped bench. My parents joined us the second year and we have had many years of fun with them for several years and this year (2016) was no exception. Marcia is so easy to work with and very responsive for any issue. And the only issue we've had was getting connected to the internet, and she got that resolved immediately.

I almost hate to write a good review, because I don't want the house to be hard to get a reservation for! :)

We love scalloping in the bay and almost changed our reservation this year when season was closed, but we decided to come and enjoy the other activities there are. I learned to paddle board on the new paddle board and took my kayak out in the bay. We enjoy the short walk to the beach also. It's no problem to walk over to see the sunset or spend a day on the beach.

The biking and walking trail is also super convenient. As a runner, I love running down the trail to the state park early in the morning.

Cape San Blas is a wonderful place to vacation and I can't imagine a better rental than Amelia by the Bay.

Memories That Last Forever

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at Amelia By The Bay more than 5 years ago {before children/grandchildren :-)} and we were so happy that it was still available for rent this year. The family has grown since our last visit so this time we had a 3 year old son, Nathan, and 3 month old daughter to make our vacation even more enjoyable! Nathan, Daddy and Papa made numerous trips to the dock each day to check the bait traps. We always had a good supply of pinfish to use as bait and found that the fishing was best at night. Inside the home, we enjoyed cooking, playing and just being together as a family. The beds were comfortable, kitchen well stocked and it was great to be able to wash clothes. Our Fall 2016 family vacation was something that we'll always remember, especially Nathan who did not want to leave. Marcia is so kind and easy to work with. Amelia BTB will see us again!!
