Yuba River Trip
This property made a great base camp for our group’s annual trip to the Yuba River. Super clean, full stocked, and very comfortable. No complaints and highly recommend for your weekend getaway. Would definitely book this place again.
Grass Valley Queen Anne
We so enjoyed this lovely home. This was the perfect opportunity for our family to get together. The home was charmingly comfortable and surprisingly quiet. At 120 years old, the home has its quirks and is, I believe, still somewhat a work in progress. But it’s charm and character made our stay very enjoyable.
We had a funeral in Grass Valley and had several of my cousins staying with us. This house worked well. Great location, easy to find, big, lots of room, clean, kitchen is great and the yard is comfortable and secure. Thank you for an amazing place to call home for three days. Will be back. AND We have decided to stay at this location from here on out! : ))
Not properly maintained. Need complete maintenance and remodelling
The house was in a very bad condition. They didn't had locks in the bathroom. The tap was making lot of pump noise when operated. There was no heater in one of the rooms. Too many issues. Didn't had a good time.
Great location, whimsical Victorian
This roomy Victorian gave us the perfect location to walk into town, yet enjoy a quiet neighborhood. The many rooms were furnished with comfortable seating and quirky decor. It made for an easy place to settle in and stay a while even though we were close enough to enjoy the charms of Grass Valley. Loved it!
A Visit to the Victorian Past in Grass Valley
I decide to visit Grass Valley with my adult children and their partners because I was interested in seeing if it was a place where I might spend my retirement. As it turns out, I don't think it is the place for me. We did enjoy the visiting the shops in town and the Cornish festival (in the rain!). It was also fun to go to the State Park Mine Museum with Holiday activities and visit old town Nevada City.
The house itself is an eclectic hodgepodge, but the bedrooms and bathrooms were quite comfortable, adequate, and clean. I think I would recommend the concept to the owners that "less is more". There were many beautiful antiques throughout the house, but they were interspersed with somewhat tacky decorative elements. The carpets could definitely use a cleaning. We all enjoyed the feeling that there were ghosts in the house.
The location is not ideal. The house is situated across the street from a gas station and next to an automotive repair shop, with the highway very close.
The owners were very accommodating. They forgot we were coming and we were left in the rain trying to use the incorrect code for the front door. They had had a family emergency and once we were able to contact them, all went well. They even offered to have us stay for an extra day for free! Unfortunately, that did not fit with our schedule.
If you are looking for a homebase while on vacation in the Gold Country and you prefer
"charm" over modern amenities, this place can't be beat for the price. I would not recommend booking the place for more than 7 people. The kitchen is adequate, but a bit shy on pots and pans.
