“The Raven” Guesthouse is named for the birds that play in the updrafts along the bluff where she sits. Tucked back into an alder grove on a 7 acre lot it's unobstructed view watches the puff of a whales blow hole, rafts of sea otters and fishing boats catching Kings Salmon and Halibut down below in Kachemak Bay and the Lower Cook Inlet. Her view extends from the shores near Seldovia to Mt. Redoubt including the expanse of Mountains and Volcanoes that make up the Alaskan Ring of Fire.
It occasionally catches a glimpse of a lynx, black bear, coyote or a moose and on a daily basis enjoys the company of playful ravens, soaring eagles, hawks, and strutting cranes and pheasants.
It’s a newly-built 2400 square foot 3-bedroom/3½ bath house that can easily accommodate 6 or more people. It's open floor plan is a comfortable place for friends and family to gather and enjoy each others company.
'The Raven' is complete in every way with a washer & dryer and a full kitchen loaded with all the appliances, pots, pans, utensils and staple foods. Each bedroom has an incredible view, its own bathroom and can sleep either 2 singles or 1 couple.
It is adorned with larch wood flooring and trim, butcher-block counter tops, and beautifully painted and decorated rooms. Southwest facing the 'Raven' basks in the sun. With a wrap-around deck you can use the Weber grill to cook up some freshly caught fish or just sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The sunsets dropping behind the Alaska Range are spectacular if you're patient enough to stay up and wait for them.
It's private location, amazing view, and comfortable interior make the 'Raven' Guesthouse a ideal home for your vacation. Call Chris or Daniel and we'll be happy to help you make your vacation a memorable experience.
We are travels ourselves and have traveled with our kids all over the United States and the world. With the needs of a traveler in mind we set up the Raven to be a great home base that is comfortable, convenient and
Chris Donich purchased this house in 2006
We built this house on an amazing cliff side lot that shows any occupant the outright raw beauty that Alaska has to offer. It sits above Kachemak Bay and you can see the expanse of the Bay and Cook Inlet to the incredible Alaska Mountain Range on the other side. It's quite a property.
Five women from Indiana ventured into the Alaskan wilderness, leaving our husbands to hold the forts down back home. While they eat their Campbell's Soup the Fab Five journeyed the waters catching Halibut galore! Feasting like queens! Your cabin was our castle and you were both so helpful and generous. Daniel guided us to the Halibut (and shark!)while Chris was kind enough to help us find our way around. The Raven- Amazing!! We truly felt at home. The views breathtaking!! A vacation of a lifetime! We will see you again soon!! (and maybe let the boys come) Ha! Thank you and god bless
We stayed in this beautiful home in July. It was ideally suited for our extended family (slept 10 comfortably) with three private bedrooms, additional sleeping areas, open kitchen, laundry--all amidst a beautiful setting. Chris went out of her way to make certain we were comfortable and had what we needed. The home is very well taken care of, and so clean. We enjoyed fires outside and looking for whales. Our only regret was that we had to go home, and didn't have an opportunity to book a fishing trip with Daniel. Highly recommended !
6 of us spent 3 days fishing with Daniel and had a wonderful time, the fishing was great and Daniel was extremely professional. Daniel has it all set up to fillet the days catch and have the processor pick up the fillets then flash freeze and pack into insulated boxes to take home, could not be a better set up as far as we are concerned. The accommodation's at the Raven were beyond anything we expected as well as the fishing experience with Daniel; we all caught plenty of fish, it was an absolute riot. I would highly recommend Daniel as a guide and I would also I highly recommend staying at the Raven, you won't be disappointed.
We had 6 adult men staying at the Raven for 5 nights. The accommodations suited us very well. Two of us are fairly good Chefs, one professionally trained. We found the house very adequately stocked with the tools we needed to make all our meals at the house (including Oysters Rockefeller, Salmon Cakes, Fresh Bread and of course Halibut Cheeks, and Grilled Salmon. Thank you to Chris and Daniel for having such a well equipped kitchen.
And the fishing wasn't too bad either. We each brought back 42# of Halibut and 12# Salmon. However, sometimes Daniel can be a tough fishing guide on his crew, he doesn't like losing fish, by fishing errors.
We had 3 adult couples staying in the Raven for 3 days. The nice part is each couples had a very spacious bedroom and bathroom with walk in shower for themselves. The kitchen was superbly equipped which made cooking a breeze. We have stayed at many other cabins during our past 20 years of coming up to fish in Homer but unanimously this was the best of all. Daniel and Chris make you feel right at home. Highly recommend the Raven and of course Daniel for the best fishing.
We had 5 guys for a 3 day fishing trip with Daniel and spent 5 nights at the Raven. One of the most relaxing and enjoyable trips I've ever had to Homer fishing. (My 24th trip) The Raven was everything we wanted and more. Quiet, room for all, view, view, view, all we needed to enjoy. We all recommend it highly and hope to stay there again.
Five high school chums spent two wonderful nights here, laughing and cooking and talking and laughing some more. It was the perfect secluded home to spot whales, watch the sunset turn Mt. Augustine pink with alpenglow, and to just revel in the quiet and solitude when we weren't talking or laughing or playing games. Beautifully situated for a large group. Walk-in showers appreciated. We could all see how we could bring our families here, or ourselves back for another visit in the future.
Homer is home to some of the best fishing in the world. The 'Raven' is a short distance from the Homer Harbor on the Spit or the Kenai, Kasilof and Anchor Rivers. We own Daniel's Personalized Guide Service and Daniel, with 19 years of experience, can take you Halibut, Salmon or Ling Cod fishing.
