About Nick & Amy Schaefer
The property know as The Ledges Resort & Marina began with my grandparents Nicholas J Schaefer and his wife Amy. They purchased the property in 1961 and made it their home. In 1963 they built a motel and named it The Ledges. They had a German restaurant on the property named The Old World Inn. They closed the restaurant 1982, but continued with the motel. In later years the motel was managed by my parents Jerome and Deborah Schaefer. They expanded into the marina and cottage rental business. In 2013 after 50 years in business we made a decision as a family to take the original motel down. The Ledges is again making changes, but staying in the family. It is now a marina and cottage rental resort. I was named after my grandfather, Nicholas, and it just so happens that my wife’s name is Amy. So, once again Nick & Amy are your hosts at the Ledges!

Just Wonderful !
The cottage, property, view, fishing, pool and owners were above our expectations! Wonderful time, beautiful area and close to everything. Super clean, relaxing and very considerate owners and workers. Can't wait to go back!!!
Wonderful stay at the Ledges!
We were generously upgraded to a 2 bedroom cabin because the River was high and had caused some flooding. We loved the cabin. It was very comfortable and clean with gorgeous views of the River. We kayaked, swam in the pool, read in the hamocks. barbequed on the deck and grilled marshmallows over the fire pit. Everything was perfect and Amy and Nick were gracious hosts. We plan to go back next year!
Getaway week without work
Our plans were slightly altered with the extreme high water but Amy and Nick did an excellent job accommodating us.Things went very smooth.
An excellent location and accommodations where excellent
Absolutely gorgeous, lovely management, walking distance to everything important :)
It was a wonderful time---both the setting and the cottage were lovely.
Chris and Nick were very helpful. We will definitely be back. We grilled and had a camp fire outside our cottage.....the grounds and amenities were delightful.
A Relaxing Stay by the Bay
We really enjoyed our time at the Ledges, from the time we arrived to the time we departed. We came to Alexandria Bay for a little quant, relaxing getaway, and that is exactly what we got. Chris was very friendly and super informative about the area and about the cottage we stayed in. Nick was also very accommodating. Having the ability to text him with any questions was very convenient! I texted him asking where we could get some firewood for the fire pits that were situated around the grounds, and without hesitation, he offered to bring us some right to our cottage. I was really impressed with the amount of accessibility and service that was provided.
We also really enjoyed the cottage and the grounds itself. The cottage was very cute, clean, and comfortable. All of the amenities you could want were provided. We wish that there was air conditioning in the bedroom just because we like it quite chilly when we sleep, but that wasn't a huge issue since the air conditioner from the living room was strong enough to cool the entire cottage and you could open the windows in the bedroom to let in the cool air coming off of the bay.
The pool area was also a highlight. The water was warm and relaxing. We also had it all to ourselves the entire stay! The fire pits and hammocks were a great bonus as well. It was really wonderful to watch the sunset over the St. Lawrence River and sit by a crackling fire on the final night of our stay.
Thank you Nick and Amy for the great accommodations and relaxing stay. I would certainly recommend the Ledges to anyone looking for a getaway in Alexandria Bay.
