Located halfway between Hermigua and Vallehermoso, 700 m. s.n. m., facing north, Casa Maria sits on an estate of 1. 000 m2, fully insulated, for extra privacy and tranquility, surrounded by small gardens terraced stone walls, with fruit trees and lush vegetation.

Ten minutes is the Visitor Center Garajonay National Park, World Heritage Site, where you can acquire information for guided tours inside the park.

From the house itself can be linked to several trails, leading some of them to the National Park.

A few minutes walk from the house, you can have great views of the island of Tenerife and its majestic mountain-volcano El Teide.

Lovely, quiet and with 2 garden areas to enjoy the sun all day

As the owners description says, the cottage is cosy and quiet. We loved the gardens, one with a picnic table which we used to enjoy all meals but also the lawn area and barbecue (which we used 3 times) which was very functional and secluded and warm in the afternoon sun. With a clear sky on 4 evenings we were able to enjoy starry skies but we also went to Alto de Garajonay, the highest point on the island (only about a 40 minute drive followed by a 20 minute walk), to see a wonderful, 360 deg dark sky with thousands of stars, which was our main reason for visiting La Gomera (also went there during one of the days and could see the Islands of El Hierro, La Palma and Tenerife all showing above cloud tops -fantastic views.

The Cottage is a perfect base for exploring the Island and with a hired car from "Cicar" we visited most of the large towns on the Island (roads are a bit twisty though so be careful).

The cottage is well equipped and everything worked including the heating heaters, which we did have to use some mornings and nights because although the days were lovely and warm, it did tend to get a bit cool at night, which was to be expected in March.

All in all a lovely holiday in a lovely cottage which we would definitely book again if we return.

A great location for a walking holiday.

A lovely home in a great location. A car is definitely a necessity. The main inconvenience during our stay was the boiler breaking which meant 4 days without hot water until the boiler was replaced. No reimbursement for the inconvenience was disappointing. Would suggest additional towels as 1 rather thin bath towel for 8 days is not really adequate and a kettle. That said, on the whole, a nice stay.

Owner's Response: I'm very amazed to read some of your comments, to which I will refer in detail with dates and times, not only to tell how it really was only, for also to be able to defend myself from them, although it may turn out to be a chapter in a bad novel, since I am not a writer. 09 March 2017 (17:30) ==> Your day of arrival 13 March 2017 (22:55) ==> Mail sent by you, asking how to put the washing machine 14 March 2017 (10:20) ==> I reply, that “L…..”, will go to explain the operation. “L…..” She goes to the house, sees everything closed and goes to return later. She thinks they are sleeping and does not want to disturb. 14 March 2017 (10:52) ==> You reply that you have already been put into operation. 15 March 2017 (09:57) ==> You report fault in the water heater. 16 March 2017 (09:35) ==> I answer you apologizing for the breakdown heater and for not seeing the mail. 16 March 2017 (16:00 approximately) ==> A new heater was installed Summarizing : making a calculation of days, from day 15 to day 16, is 1 day, not 4. Request-Refund: We would have no problem in returning you the amount of 4 days of stay (although I insist, the number of days do not match), if you reimburse us for the breakdown of a heater that was new, plus the replacement of the washer machine and dryer machine. These two breakdowns we discovered her the day after your departure. We really can not understand how you can break 3 big appliances. On the other hand, we take note of your opinion on towels, quality and number, and we put a solution to it, as soon as possible. Thank you for helping us improve. Our best wishes.

The cottage MARY, is a house with more than 80 years old and has been fully restored by its owners in 2003, preserving and respecting the traditional architecture of La Gomera, with all its facades in natural stone masonry, woodworks and tiled roofs.

It is accessed directly from the GM1 road, from San Sebastián de La Gomera, leads to Vallehermoso, through the neighborhood tennis La Vega, having parking right in front of the house.

It is distributed on one level, L-shaped, leaving a large stone patio on the main facade, where you can enjoy a great view Garajonay National Park and Mount Teide on Tenerife.

Inside, consists of two distinct areas, one with large kitchen and dining room, bathroom and laundry, and one with living room with fireplace and two bedrooms. Both its rustic, with all its interior wooden ceilings and full equipment, ensure total comfort.
