Positives: 1) The location is excellent, close to public transportation and attractions. 2) The apartment was clean, well-appointed.
Negatives: 1) This is a small thing that felt big--the key pad letting us into the apartment house was faulty and erratic, once requiring twelve attempts before the door opened and often requiring from three to six tries. This left us feeling pretty insecure--would we be able to get back in when we returned late in the evening? A phone call to the host got no response.
2) Our host was in a hurry to leave when he met us to admit us into the apartment, seeming irritated with us for being late--though we came directly from the airport by cab in heavy traffic. After a cursory introduction to the flat and settling the money matters, we saw him no more. He didn't return phone calls. We had thought we were paid up (a miscommunication at home); we weren't, but the host insisted on his money before turning over the keys. That was reasonable, but not particularly hospitable. He waited for us to go across the street to withdraw the required euros from the ATM. Fortunately he brought along a congenial friend whose English was better, so we got through this little exchange. That same friend showed up promptly at checkout time. We were glad to see him. He explained that our host hadn't returned our calls because he had a brief hospitalization. Still, he was able to arrange for the checkout but could not arrange for a returned phone call. We don't know the nature of the hospitalization and feel a little guilty in writing this report.
3) We had difficulty making the television work. We finally solved the problem ourselves late in the week.
We might mention that the courtyard walkway was being repaired when we were there, so we had to walk to the apartment house door through dirt and dust and blockages of construction. The new walkway is in by now, undoubtedly, making the entry easier to negotiate.
We have happily rented several vacation apartments. This is our first report to include anything negative.
I took my 16 yr old daughter and 15 yr old son to see Paris with out my husband. Roxana was a perfect host, Alex's was there to greet us on our arrival and showed us the ropes. The flat is a perfect location for all the site seeing, the metro is right around the corner. We cooked every night, the rooms were comfortable beds were great. Plenty of towels for the week, wifi was good, so many things in the area, cafes, the natural store to buy groceries, butcher, pastry, cheese etc. I had a problem with the blow dryer and Roxana had a brand new one waiting for me when we got back from our outing ( I didn't even ask for a new one). I will definitely come back and stay here, great place, great location! Thank you Roxana.
Property was just as described and perfect for our four days in Paris. Had all the amenities we needed and was in a great location to walk to many attractions. Roxana was pleasant to deal with.
Pros: Great location, close to metro. Excellent pizza shop downstairs. Great communication with owner. Good appliances, including dishwasher and clothes washer. Close to grocery stores. Some basic supplies were there like sugar, salt, laundry detergent, dishwasher soap, close to parks, restaurants
Cons: there is ALOT of street noise such as motorcycles and sirens (bring ear plugs). Only one fan, too loud to open windows, can get very warm.
Summary: excellent location and great value
This is a cozy apartment for 1-2 people, with a beautiful view of chateau de vincennes. The metro is right around the corner, and is a direct line to the Louvre and Champs Elysées. There is also a park nearby for those who like to go for a morning run, and the centre ville de Vincennes is a 5 min walk. The apartment is also close to grocery stores, restaurants and outdoor markets.
There are all new fixtures, a surprisingly comfortable sofa bed and it comes with all you need (cutlery, plates, clean towels, clean linen, etc). The building is a Haussmann style and very quiet. The toilet is private and located next to the apartment. The shower room with sink, storage and mirror is located in the apartment. I extended my contract for 2 more weeks because it was so comfortable.
Roxana is the perfect host! Very responsive and always helpful. I will be recommending this flat and Roxana to anyone looking for a room or apartment in Paris.
I have rented apartments now for several years when going to Paris. By far this was the nicest! The location for me was perfect...the corner of rue Bonaparte and rue du Four. The apartment, not was totally modernized with lots of light. And it was super clean! Roxana was on time to meet me on arrival and again when I handed back the key. I would definitely stay here again.
