Private prime location, unique, and quiet. Yet steps away from Commercial Street and all that Provincetown has to offer.
absolutely wonderful bright and sunny 2 bed 2 bath condo-easy parking for 2, smack in the middle of Ptown, everything u would want as far as kitchen supplies, plates, glasses...clean - great private deck overlooking Commercial St- when we go back this is where we will try to stay again ! would highly recommend
You could search long and hard but you will not find a better location or a more welcoming home in all of P-town. There is an indescribable vibe of tranquility in this 161 year old masterpiece. It will embrace you as you enter and then send you on your way, recharged. Speaking of masterpieces.... the walls are adorned with original oil paintings by the owner, Chippa. Lisa will probably meet you at check in. The reason that the house is so meticulously clean is because Lisa, the owner, an attorney, cleaned it. Most of the houses in P-town are cleaned by service companies that are in and out.... which is fine, if you're staying in a hotel. The Captain's house is so much more than that.
Parking: not only do you get parking, you get parking for two right at the front door. Most places charge for parking, if they have it. The first 3-4 times that we lived at the Captain's house, we rented a car in Boston and drove in. Once we arrived, we parked the car and never touched it the whole time we were home. A few years ago, we figured out the Ferry and have never looked back. Don't give it a second thought, just book the Ferry at the same time you book your airline. The Captain's house is probably the closest residence to the Ferry in all of P-town.
While discovering all that P-town has to offer, you'll find the Captain's house location will add to your overall enjoyment. It's so great to be able to drop in and out. Most of the locations are NOT like that. When you leave, you have to pack up and bring everything that you might need for the day because there is no running back to the house.
We have cooked many a gourmet meal for two and hosted gatherings of 10. Guests are often dumbstruck by the beauty and integrity of the Captain's House. The kitchen is fully stocked and there is a small, portable gas grill for your use. Just be sure to pick up a small propane canister at the grocery store just in case.
In closing, there is only one bad thing about the Captain's House.... LEAVING!
I am hopelessly in love with P-town due in large part to how comfortable I am while I am there. I owe all of that to the Captain's House. Lisa and Chippa are the guardians of the Captain's house, a more hospitable pair, you will not find.
Matt and Danny from Miami ~ This summer will be our 7th or 8th stay at the Captain's House.
We have stayed at this rental for the last three years during Family Week. We couldn't ask for a better place to stay. It is spacious, bright and clean. The location is amazing - right off Commercial Street but quiet and like a secret hideaway. New air conditioners were put in this year and they were quiet and worked well. The owners leave a welcome note and a bottle of wine to celebrate our arrival. There is an amazing view of the Pilgrim Monument from the deck. The kitchen is well appointed. The living room has nice light and we love to read in the big wicker chairs. There are two bathrooms and both bedrooms are spacious. There is ample parking. It is just steps away from all of the restaurants and night life. We would highly recommend this rental.
So we just got back from a week at the Captain's house and let me just say that all of the wonderful things said in these other posts are very accurate. What a place - the location is perfect. We were greeted by one of the owners - given a tour of the place. You dont have to get anything. The place was immaculate which is alway so nice. Very quiet - I didnt hear a thing. I will definately rent this place again. What a great experience.
Our stay was wonderful. Way more than we expected. The location couldn't have been more perfect, right in the center of town. The property was very well maintained and clean. We would definately rent this property again and would recommend it to friends and family.
We were so pleasantly surprised when we walked into the large apartment at how the photos were spot on, and that the space was so bright, open and pleasant, not to mention clean and with a lovely welcome awaiting us. The rates are a great deal and more than fair.
The kitchen was all new and fully functioning, as were the bathrooms, and there was nothing 'quirky' about the place as most vacation apts. The second bedroom was very old New England and quite a warm room, even with the ac. Perhaps a photo of this should be put on the site so that people know what the second bedroom looks like, but it's still so comfortable.
We came with neither car or computer (great for people off of the ferry esp!), but there was ample room and arrangements for both of these. The ceiling fan in the living room was fantastic.
I will effortlessly recommend this to any of my friends. The biggest treat, aside from the lovely deck: the apartment is so QUIET while right in center of town. And even within the apt, the bedrooms are so well situated no one bothered the others in their own hallways. Just lovely.
Other Activities: kayaking, harbor cruises, galleries, fine dining, dune tours
