This new four bedroom colonial sits at the edge of a beautiful, wild flower filled meadow. It is at the mouth of Perkins Cove and a stones throw from the trolley stop that takes you to the downtown area, the main beach and nearby York. Walk down the private country road, which leads you to the nearby Marginal Way. Follow the path that runs more than a mile along our rocky coastline with Perkins Cove on one end, the baby beach in the middle and Ogunquit Village on the other. All of the shops, fine restaurants, fishing boats and entertainment are within walking distance. This is a great property for family reunions in a private community just off the beaten path of the heartbeat of Ogunquit.
Parking for four cars maximum. If more needed ask. Four great breakfast restaurants within walking distance.
Parking space for two cars in driveway and two more beside the house on pavement.
There are many good golf courses close by.
George and Lew-Ann built this home in 2004. They live right there on the property and spend their days sailing, working in the garden and playing with their cats, Nosara and Nicoya.
George Cooley purchased this house in 2004
When looking for the right place for a family reunion or a private home to share with friends, Galway is the best location in town. There is more open land around this house than any rental in Ogunquit. There are two undeveloped lots behind the house and it is on a private road going through an apple orchard.
Behind the house is a shaded picnic area under a covering of fresh concord grapes. Just beyond is a beautiful meadow filled with wild flowers. Three other houses on same property are also enclosed in this private field where the sounds of the busy streets beyond seem far away.
What more you anyone want?
The town trollies stop the corner of the adjacent street. You can walk into Perkins Cove for shopping, dining and boat adventures.
You can walk down town to the many shops and restaurants and you can walk to the Marginal Way and little beaches along the way in just minutes.
There is a golf course, playhouse, sailing, surfing and fishing all close by and Boston, Portsmouth and Portland are all close enough to explore when the time is right.
For the best outdoor dining in town stay home and have cooked lobster delivered to the picnic table.
Yoga is offered on the premises and a garden is full of fresh vegitables and flowers in season
Excellent location, amenities, cleanliness. Able to accomodate our party of 9 without being cramped. Also entertained a group of 17 without problems
Nice people, clean , spacious, well stalked with every thing you need ,close to restaurants , cove ,and marginal way , my family loved the environment. Felt like home , plus the garden tomatoes and cucumbers were an added treat. (Thanks George )We loved our family vacation.
Rented this home from George and Lu-Ann Cooley in Sept of 2015. Group of 10 adults fro central Ohio. House was spacious an just what we asked for. Walking distance to all Ogunquit has to offer. Stones throw from Perkins Cove and the Marginal Way. The Cooleys were just up the hill if we needed anything and were very kind and accommodating. Thanks for a great week !!
This is a wonderful house. But if it were to gain another half star or rise in ratings (or indeed, keep the so-far assigned 5-star rating) it would need better upkeep, minor upgrades. You'd want all the lights to work in bathrooms (no fun showering in the dark & I like to read on the toilet), you'd want the kitchen to be equipped with a kettle, scissors, a working can opener (we bought and left behind a small opener as well as a working toilet plunger!) We would have liked newer bedsheets and fitted sheets that stayed fitted. Master bedroom had an overabundance of drawers, other bedrooms had virtually none – or just more shelves. Upstairs carpets really need a good cleaning, as does the single sagging and ancient living room couch. This does not involve thousands of dollars of investment, maybe hundreds.
The house is spacious, airy, well-lit and properly designed. Bedrooms are large and individually air conditioned and showers are excellent. Kitchen and eating area were the heart of it for us; all 8 adults & 3 little ones could spend hours there without bumping into each other. Food preparation was a pleasure we all shared. Backyard was the place to BBQ, dine under the grape arbour, play badminton, enjoy our inflatable kiddy pool, look through the long grasses for chirping bugs, anything; the play area for our three year-old could extend to the private street – no traffic! George was always nearby if needed and friendly without prying.
This is a beautiful house with lots of room for kids and grandkids. Couldn't ask for a better location. A short walk to the Marginal Way and Perkins Cove. Close to restaurants and shops, yet tucked away in a quiet setting. We would love to come back and stay here again. Thank you George!
this summer was the 2nd time we have stayed here .his year we also rented the small house next door. we had a wonderful time. the homes are well maintained and user friendly for our large group ranging in age from 3-87 yrs. We especially enjoy eating out under the grape arbor and late evenings around the fire pit. the house is steps away from the trolley and the marginal way.
Cooley lane is off Frazier Pasture rd which comes up on Map quest. 250 steps to the Marginal Way and 1/10 of a mile to Perkins Cove.Go sailing with the owner out of Perkins Cove. Three breakfast restaurants within a short walk.
