There are other outdoor sitting/relaxing areas at the barn, on the platform with adirondack chairs, and in the hammock between two large pine trees.

If you should feel like you need to explore beyond the National Forest and your cozy cabin home, there are a multitude of things to do in nearby areas. We are only one hour and fifteen minutes from Monarch Ski Resort and Woodland Park is close by where there is great dining, the Dinosaur Museum, and shopping. The Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument and Museum is around the corner and Colorado Springs is just down the pass. If you feel like gambling you can be in the historic mining town of Cripple Creek in no time.

During the winter, you will enjoy sledding down a hill on the property in a two person toboggan or other sleds or snow shoeing from the property. Only 1 hour 25 minutes to skiing.

In the fall come visit this mountain home to see the beautiful changing of the Aspen leaves. The famous Gold Belt Tour is a ‘must do’ scenic drive during the autumn season.

And of course, summer time in the Rockies is unmatched. The Aspens are in full bloom and a sprinkling of wildflowers splash color across the landscape.

This is the Pikes Peak backcountry in all its splendor. Enjoy. * Please note a $200 fully refundable damage deposit is required. We do not include this in the auto-rates with VRBO as we do not cash these upon receipt, but shred them after departure as a courtesy for our guests.

About Marc and Angel Dettenrieder

This is a magical home. This cabin used to be our primary home before we had to move. It is private and beautiful. It is very custom and clean. We left all of our custom/original furnishings so this is not a 'garage sale' vacation rental. Everyone loves our custom details! Angel is a teacher and university instructor and Marc is an elected official-Teller County Commissioner.

Marc and Angel Dettenrieder purchased this cabin in 2002

Beautiful Mountain Home~

We just got back to the heat of Kansas from our wonderful cool stay in Divide Colorado July 9-16, 2016. I had read that it was a bit of a drive from the main intersection of Divide, but after the first two times making our way back and forth it was easy and well worth the peace and quiet in the area. The directions given to us were spot on and easy to follow.

Our daughter, husband and their 2 children, 3 year old Izzy and 8 year old Tyler loved everything about the cabin home. As we wrote in the cabin journal our 8 year old grandson asked if "this is heaven". He and his little 3 year old sister loved exploring, feeding the chipmunks, picking up rocks, finding walking sticks and almost coming face to face with a mule deer which we saw several times around the cabin. I think the kids would have been happy if we would have stayed at the cabin and not went on some of our getaways.

At one point during our stay the smoke from the fires southwest (a long ways southwest) came drifiting our way and kind of made us nervous. I sent a text to Marc and Angel asking if there was anything to be concerned about and Marc got right back to me and eased our minds. He said he would definately alert us to any issues and that it was a LONG way from where we were. So nice to be able to make contact that quickly.

Another bonus was the kitchen had everything you would need to make a meal. We would stop by the grocery store in divide and get our main meal items, go to the cabin which was well stocked with oil, sugar, seasonings and more. When we didn't eat at the cabin we enjoyed our breakfast at the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Woodland Park. There was a pizza place in Cripple Creek that was wonderful. We also fed the donkeys that roam free in the town of Cripple Creek, which the kids loved.

Thank you Marc and Angel for providing your lovely home in the beautiful mountains in Divide. We will definately keep this on our list for any return visits to the area. We will also be telling friends and family about this cabin.

One night was just not enough!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely home in a fantastic location! Our family enjoyed secluded yet a short drive to everything we needed. There was so much to enjoy on the property that we truly did not want to ever leave. One night was just not enough to take it all in. There is everything you need inside the home too, great rustic and unique furniture (loved it), cozy linens, fully stocked kitchen. Very comfortable and inviting. Highly, highly reccommend!

Nice, Quiet cabin on the mountain.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is nice and it is really quite. It is a little bit off the main road and there are a lot of curves to get there but we had a good time. The area is beautiful. My kids loved feeding the birds and chipmunks that came on the back porch.
