This is a magical home. This cabin used to be our primary home before we had to move. It is private and beautiful. It is very custom and clean. We left all of our custom/original furnishings so this is not a 'garage sale' vacation rental. Everyone loves our custom details! Angel is a teacher and university instructor and Marc is an elected official-Teller County Commissioner.
Marc and Angel Dettenrieder purchased this cabin in 2002
Divide is one of the most beautiful areas in the world. This was our primary home.
The views, the wildlife, the quiet, the privacy, the temperature, the unbelievable breathtaking beauty of the Pike's Peak Region. Deer visit the cabin regularly.
This is a nice cabin with plenty of room to spread out. It is very quiet and relaxing. It is close enough to attractions in Co Springs yet in a very country setting. The owner was very quick to respond and allowed us to add an extra night at the last minute after our plans changed. I would definitely stay here again.
The house is awesome. The location is perfect. If you love to watch wildlife this is the place. Saw deer, lots of chipmunks, all kinds of birds, and even had a cat visit on the last day. The steller's blue jay which is only found at the elevations this house is at were amazing to watch. Plenty of room inside. The beds are really comfortable. Marc and Angel are really easy to work with and make sure you have all the info you need in plenty of time. The only downside was when it was time to leave for home. Would not hesitate to rent again!
Kids loved exploring the 5 acres of property. Wildlife was amazing with chipmunks and deer. The cabin itself was extremely well put together and had everything a family could ever want. Loved how remote the cabin was and how you felt like you were in a completely different world. Perfect vacation get away!
This vacation was absolutely and truly pure "SERENITY'. So quiet and peaceful, you could lose yourself and be mesmerized by the scenery of majestic mountains surrounding the forest. Any visitors such as the deer, elk, and chipmunks bring such an amazing sense of comfort and beauty all at once. I cannot say enough of the cabin itself; so quaint, spacious and comfortable. The layout and amenities were just as listed. Well-maintained and very clean. The surrounding areas were so close to visit. Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, and the Royal Gorge to name a few. The deer trail was my absolute favorite hike on the property. Sitting areas where you can enjoy a good book or just sit and listen to the forest tales of everlasting serenity. Such a beautiful place to stay. I will definitely recommend this listing.
The home was more that we expected. The pictures do not do this home justice. The beds were very comfortable. We had ample room for our kids to explore. The first morning we were there we were greeted by a deer by the porch. The chipmunks were there every day. We were able to cook three nights while we were there. I wish we could have done this more and enjoyed the sunsets. Marc and Angel were very helpful and informative. The home was very clean and smelled amazing. In the book, they gave us suggestions of places to eat, where grocery stores are located, and beautiful drives to take. I would absolutely recommend this place to others. We ate at McGintry's the last part of our vacation. We wish we had earlier. Their pizza pies are delicious. Do not eat at Denny's. We ate there one morning for breakfast. We waited for over an hour on our food. The waiter hardly came back while we were waiting. When he finally brought us our food, we did not have silverware. Instead of him going to get it after I asked him for it, he turned to another table to take an order. Our food was already cold. I was floored that he did not go get our silverware. The Hungry Bear is good for breakfast. We went white water rafting. I would highly suggest echo canyons for this activity. We went with another company this year and were highly disappointed. Garden of the Gods is beautiful. Santa's workshop is fun for the kids. Pikes Peak Cog train, Seven Falls, and Helen Hunt falls are other activities I would suggest. Thank you Marc and Angel for letting us enjoy your home. We hope to return soon.
We just got back to the heat of Kansas from our wonderful cool stay in Divide Colorado July 9-16, 2016. I had read that it was a bit of a drive from the main intersection of Divide, but after the first two times making our way back and forth it was easy and well worth the peace and quiet in the area. The directions given to us were spot on and easy to follow.
Our daughter, husband and their 2 children, 3 year old Izzy and 8 year old Tyler loved everything about the cabin home. As we wrote in the cabin journal our 8 year old grandson asked if "this is heaven". He and his little 3 year old sister loved exploring, feeding the chipmunks, picking up rocks, finding walking sticks and almost coming face to face with a mule deer which we saw several times around the cabin. I think the kids would have been happy if we would have stayed at the cabin and not went on some of our getaways.
At one point during our stay the smoke from the fires southwest (a long ways southwest) came drifiting our way and kind of made us nervous. I sent a text to Marc and Angel asking if there was anything to be concerned about and Marc got right back to me and eased our minds. He said he would definately alert us to any issues and that it was a LONG way from where we were. So nice to be able to make contact that quickly.
Another bonus was the kitchen had everything you would need to make a meal. We would stop by the grocery store in divide and get our main meal items, go to the cabin which was well stocked with oil, sugar, seasonings and more. When we didn't eat at the cabin we enjoyed our breakfast at the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Woodland Park. There was a pizza place in Cripple Creek that was wonderful. We also fed the donkeys that roam free in the town of Cripple Creek, which the kids loved.
Thank you Marc and Angel for providing your lovely home in the beautiful mountains in Divide. We will definately keep this on our list for any return visits to the area. We will also be telling friends and family about this cabin.
