cBay Cottage was built around 1940 as a summer Chesapeake Bay get-away cottage. Folks would pack up the station wagon and head to the bay for a week or more! Children would float on inner tubes, catch lively blue crabs, rock fish, 'tooth hunt' and play on the beach while mom and dad would relax and listen to their transistor-radio. Times have changed, but the beach is still the beach. This classic two bedroom beach cottage can comfortably accommodate 2 to 4 adults and a couple children with one double bed, two twin beds and a queen foldout couch in the living room. A fully equipped kitchen, central air, paddle fans in each room, linens and towels are included - you just need to bring provisions! cBay has one full bathroom (with shower only and a great outdoor shower as well). With a gorgeous beachfront view of the Bay, a window seat and deck overlooking the beach this is the best location for listening to the waves or watching the gulls and bald eagles play on the Chesapeake Bay.
We had a wonderful stay at CBay cottage.
The cottage itself is just lovely and probably the best equipped in which we’ve ever stayed. The views of the bay are amazing. The community is small and intimate.
Sue and Steve were nearby for any questions, suggestions or other needs, and could not have been more gracious hosts. Beach access is very easy - it’s a short walk past two adjacent cottages then stairs down to the beach. The beach itself is very private, particularly in front and north of the cottage. We visited in the fall, and we had the beach almost to ourselves all week and found many fossils.
The cottage is ideally located to explore local parks, hike the Chestnut Land Trust trails and the visit the Calvert Marine Museum.
Thank you Steve & Sue for sharing your lovely property with us!
Location! We are directly on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, a 40 minute drive to the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, 35 minutes to Maryland's first settlement - St. Mary's City, just 45 miles southeast of Washington DC, 60 miles south of Baltimore and only 15 miles north of historic Solomons Island - Calvert County, Maryland. To Do: Relax... relax! But if you like to hike - try our endless hiking trails shared with the American Chestnut Land Trust; or take a beach walk. Do you enjoy finding interesting antiques? Or how about bird watching, fossil tooth hunting or skate watching? Enjoy listening to the surf or watch tall and large ships pass. Visit the Patuxent Naval Air Test Pilot Station.
