About Amber Walker

My name is Amber and our family has been visiting Kona since I was a little girl. My grandparents have owned this unit since the late 70s and now our family's children get to enjoy coming here just like we did when we were young.

When we visit we especially love going to Makalawena beach (worth the hike!), Keiki pond (behind the aquatics center), tide-pool exploration, perusing the shops, Magic Sands, Kahaluu beach/snorkeling, kayaking to Kealakekua Bay with dolphins, and Hawi town.

When we are not relaxing in Kona we reside in Washington. I enjoy speaking with renters and helping them to discover Kona.

Amber Walker purchased this condo in 1978

Why Amber Walker chose Kona Coast

My grandparents first fell in love with Kona in the late 60s. During their first trip they stayed at the classic Kona Tiki Hotel, still in operation just down the street from the Alii Villas Condo complex. At that time, Kailua was a very small town with only 2 hotels and no traffic lights. Quite the sleepy hawaiian village!

After visiting for about a decade, they bought at Alii Villas because the unit's view is unsurpassed. Looking north into Kailua Bay and west out to sea, it offers the best shoreline and ocean/sunset views!

What makes this condo unique

One of my favorite rituals is to go walking on Alii Drive early in the mornings. The air is cool, yet it's sunny. You can smell all the tropical flowers!

Our location is very convenient to shopping centers, beaches, and even just to putter through the shoreline access trails near home. There is so much to do right from the condo, even if you didn't rent a car!

Million Dollar View

  • 5 of 5

This was our sixth annual stay, this time for six weeks, at this fantastic oceanfront condo. I had previously done extensive research on other lodging options in the Kona area, and this was by far the best value- a clean and nicely appointed condo with a million dollar view at a reasonable cost. This third floor (top) unit has a perfect view of the bay, the ocean and the coastal area of town. The unit is far enough from Alii Drive that road noise is non-existent, and all of the neighbors are quiet and friendly. The grounds and pool area are immaculately maintained. Every morning when we awaken and every night when we retire for the evening, we are lulled by the sound of the waves gently lapping against the rocks below. We always start the day sitting on the lanai drinking our Kona coffee and watching the dolphins swimming and spinning out in the bay...and sometimes even see a whale or two breaching. Some days we make the short walk into town for breakfast at an oceanside restaurant with our feet in the sand. Great snorkeling within a few miles of the condo. Amber is incredibly responsive, accommodating and trustworthy. Needless to say, we have already reserved the condo for another six weeks next year.

Huge, shaded, waterfront lanai perfect for dolphin & whale watching.

  • 5 of 5

This condo is our favourite escape: beautiful, spacious, full of light & the sound of the ocean. Fully equipped with extras like boogie boards, snorkel gear, & yoga mats. A very quiet complex close enough to walk to town. Never any problem finding a chaise lounge poolside. Beautifully landscaped & maintained property with friendly residents & visitors.

Spectacular ocean and Kona views a feast for the senses

  • 5 of 5

We've been to Kona many times and this condo had the best view we've ever expirenced. Pure heaven to be lulled by the crashing waves at night and then sip tea while the day brightens over the ocean. We enjoyed seeing Spinner dolfins by the hundreds, turtles rising to breath, flying fish, paddle boarders, swimmers and kayaker s. and, though sometimes challenging to get in, the snorkeling right off the lava is spectacular. Tons of fish and great variety too.

The property is excellently maintained with lovely landscaping, a nice pool area and well equipped BBQ area. Even a sunset viewing area that is a bit of an evening gathering area if you feel like mingling with the residents.

The unit itself was very clean and MUCH better fitted out than any VRBO I've been to. Plenty of good quality cookware, china (two sets!), utensils, ect. I didn't want for anything I couldn't find in my own kitchen. Also had more starter supplies than we are used to. I've been places that only had salt and pepper. This is not that place. I felt so grateful that I paid it forward by leaving lots of extras too. Makes me wonder if previous guests have felt the same and that's why it's so homey.

Great quality sheets and towels and plenty of beach stuff too. We bring our own snorkel gear but they had plenty. Even a surf board!

Two small quibbles. Would have wished for two twins in the smaller bedroom as we had teens with us but would be perfect for two couples. Also we rented a paddle board (Kona Boys!) and then stupidly realized that no way could we get it up to the third floor! So not a quibble against the unit but my own short sighted ness. Too funny. Rooky move!

And Amber was super responsive and great to work with.

Anyway: we just loved it. Mahalo!

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Have stayed at this condo for the last 2 years and would highly recommend it. Great location on the water with an incredible view down the Kona coastline towards Kailua. The condo was well equipped, clean and Amber was great to work with and took care of everything. Looking forward to staying there again next year.

vacationer from oregon

My wife and I just finished 31 wonderful days at this condo on Alii Drive in Kona. This is our second time at the condo and I can't been to describe how perfect it is for a vacation rental. Dealing with Amber is a pleasure with responses to my e-mails appearing ASAP. The condo is perfectly equipped with everything you need for a memorable vacation. The king size bed in the master bedroom is very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need to make a meal or a cocktail. A reserved parking space awaits you right at the bottom of the stairs leading to the condo. Cable TV is there but who wants TV when you have this wonderful view of Kailua Bay and downtown Kailua/Kona. The sounds of the waves will lull you to sleep and will greet you when you wake. I've searched other VRBO vacation rentals in Kona and without a doubt this is the best value and location. The condo is down near the waters edge so there is no road noise. The pool area is spectacular with reclining sun lounges and umbrellas. The pool was never crowded and several times I was the lone user. A couple of Weber grills are nearby with tables and chairs to eat there if you don't want to go back to the condo. The grills are very clean as well as the surrounding area. The landscaping at the Villas is superbly maintained the grounds are very well maintained and manicured.

I could go on and on. I've rented the condo twice for a month each and this will be the choice when I visit Kona again. Peruse the photos, compare on VRBO and you'll reach the same conclusion.
