This charming 1930s cottage is a perfect place to relax and enjoy boating, swimming and sunning. There are two large, breezy bedrooms with queen beds, two smaller rooms with twin beds, a comfortable living/dining area and a well-equipped kitchen. The roomy, screened-in porch has a lovely view of Waquoit Bay and Washburn Island. You can row to the island from the private dock in the cove to explore, swim and collect shells. The front yard is screened from the street by trees and a wildflower meadow. Kids will enjoy the large play structure. Movies, restaurants and shopping are just a short drive away.
We were one of 3 couples staying at your cottage; it was more like a home than a cottage. Nice and clean, wonderful place, all of the amenities you would need. Having a dock for our boats was perfect. Short boat ride to sandy beaches, warm water, fishing, and once out of the Bay it was a short trip to Oak Bluffs, nice day on The Vineyard without the hassle of the ferry. We brought our Bocce and Ladder Ball games, so the lawn area was used every afternoon. Grilling was convenient with your gas grill right there. The cottage was just as nice, if not nicer than your listing, pictures and descriptions accurate, as well as the amenities listed. We look forward to coming back next summer if you would have us.
My husband are owners of Lighthouse Cottages on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of this cottage, the quaint yard, and the dock. We go to the Cape every summer for a week of salt water fun. This home was just perfect! Right on the water with quaohogs in the front yard was just what we needed. We hope to return again!
This is a beautiful spot on Waquoit Bay. The home is very comfortable and clean. One of the best features is the large screened-in porch and secondly the dock that allows easy access to the bay. This is a quiet, relatively secluded location that offers privacy while being only minutes from shopping for groceries or almost anything else you might need. We spent a lot of time watching with our binoculars the osprey fledgling just across the bay on Washburn Island. Great place if you like kayaking.
The Seapit River, Washburn Island and Waquoit Bay are part of an estuarine research reserve. The island point is uninhabited except for an osprey nest currently supporting hatch lings. The inlets and tributaries of the bay provide opportunities for exploration, particularly by kayak. Nearby Mashpee Commons offers several free concerts per week and a verity of dining and shopping.
Other Activities: Private dock, mooring available
