Susan is the Special Education teacher at the local charter school. Todd's interests include leading a local dance band, building and restoring fun things, messing about in boats, and managing Real Estate. Why Todd and Susan Miller chose Grand Marais
We chose this location because it is very special. We are lifelong Miinnesotans and have been passing through Grand Marais our whole lives. We wanted a home on the North Shore, and we believe that Grand Marais is the jewel of the North Shore. Within Grand Marais we wanted to be close to the action and the water. Although this is a very small town, it has big shoulders when it comes to culture and beauty. We belive our specific location is magical because the big lake cools us in summer and warms us in winter. We never get tired of the many moods of Lake Superior and enjoy watching the lake from this property.
What makes this House unique
Covid-19 requirements. All guests must agree. We are happy to accept your reservation. We have adopted a protocol that protects both you and our cleaners from COVID-19. And most importantly, we insist that you join us in protecting our aging resident population in Grand Marais. We have a disproportionately older population of elderly here and our community is very firm about refusing guests who do not take the need for social distancing as seriously as everyone here does. While in Grand Maris you MUST maintain 6 feet of distance at all times with anyone outside of your family group. If you are unable to do so you must take action to resolve the situation. Some hiking trails and sidewalks can be tight and if you can't maintain 6' feet of distance please sort it out before it is a problem. We strongly recommend wearing masks in public. Please respect our sensitivities up here. At the time of writing this we have NO cases of Covid-19 in our county. Our simple clinic can not handle any cases of Covid, we have no ventilators and no ICU. Your actions will help ensure that we maintain our good health and protect our vulnerable population. If guests are flaunting our requirements we will likely be shut down by area authorities or choose to shut down ourselves. So please be excellent ambassadors for all visitors to Grand Marais. 1) Are any in your group experiencing any signs of illness such as coughing, aches, or fever? We can not accept any guests with these symptoms. Please respond that all are healthy. 2) If any in your group have been diagnosed with Covid-19 or suspect that you may have had undiagnosed Covid -19 in the last two weeks we can not host you. Clean, Modern, and Great Location
Fun modern place. Everything was clean and as described. The owner was always quick to answer any of our questions. Easy check in and check out process. Parking was not an issue, we have a bigger SUV and we parked just fine in the carport. Has a great view! It's only 1 -2 blocks from restaurants and shopping. We actually got snowed in until the plows came by so we all just put boots on and walked to coffee and breakfast. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you!
Super simple. Super clean. Super convenient. We enjoyed a memorable, non-traditional Christmas at the Horizon. The architecture and design are so impressive as were the local art works hanging in the property. Everything we needed was provided from cutlery to games! We would love to return to enjoy this property and the Great Lake Superior to enjoy a different season. This site is withing easy walking distance to the shoreline, coffee house, pharmacy and restaurants/brewery. Thank you for the time and love you've put into this property and the attention to detail!
Thank you Ann!
We look forward to returning to The Horizon house overlooking the lake
This was nearly perfect for our two couples spending a long weekend in Grand Marais. The views were spectacular, the location was very convenient and the house was more stunning than the pictures gave credit. You can tell the owners knew what they were doing and put a lot of thought into the details.
It was a great 4 days. The views were awesome.
Thanks so much! Take care. Todd and Susan
Unique spot in Grand Marais
Todd and Susan were excellent hosts - communication was prompt and check in was easy. The property is very unique and in a great location, short walk to everything in Grand Marais. Views of the lake from the top floor are great. I will look to stay here again.
