About the property

Holiday home, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, (Sleeps 4)

Beautiful connected cottage with magnificent views, located in Riomaggiore, one of the five villages of the unique National Park "Cinque Terre", located along the rocks overlooking the sea. These "Cinque Terre" are part of the Unesco World Heritage. From your private terrace you will have spectacular sea views and this is the ideal place for al fresco dining and sun bathing too. The sea and the (pebble) beach are less than 1000m away (accessible via stairs cut out in the rocks).

Your cottage is very modern with glass stairs and a kitchen fitted with Carrara marble. The decoration is elegant and of high quality. The holiday home is split-level on the ground and first floor , with a large terrace on the first floor. There are also two entrances (one via the terrace, via a low door, and the other via the ground floor).

The house is ideally located for long walks and visits to the unique 5 villages of Cinque Terre. There is also a walking path called the "Via dell'Amore" and starting in Riomaggiore, leading to all the villages and with gorgeous sea views. During your holidays, you could also easily visit the Cinque Terre by train (the station of Riomaggiore is at ca. 1 km from your cottage). In this pretty cottage you can enjoy a lovely holiday amidst the Cinque Terre!

The three additional beds are comfortable sofa beds with real mattresses inside. With these beds included, 7 people can sleep in this house.

Adequate

  • 3 of 5

the Unit is really a one bedroom with a sofa bed in another room, bed in main bed quite hard , sofa bed was not very comfortable. The Bathroom again adequate and would be considered unusual by North American standard , with the toilet and bidet in the same space shower requiring wiping down all areas after a shower. The kitchen had most items needed, missing would be a toaster, a coffee maker, there was a small espresso maker. The balcony was a good space with great views. When arriving with suitcases have the owner show you the longer way around where you can roll your luggage to the unit with less stairs to haul your suitcases up. Areas that could improved our stay were the items in the kitchen, more comfortable beds and furniture.

We had a truly awful experience with Villano Riomaggiore, in particular with the owner.

On our final afternoon we returned to the apartment to find that the front door would not unlock. We tried numerous attempts. We spoke to a neighbour who contacted the owner's cousin Sara. Sara (owner of Dune Blu apartments) attempted twice to enter the property with our key but agreed the door was broken. She called the owner, who appeared to refuse to come to assist. Sara called another contact who had a spare key for the villa, Martha. Martha attempted the door and also agreed it was broken. She called the owner and again asked her to attend. Again she appeared to refuse to come to Riomaggiore. A third contact Lorenza then came to assist. She and her husband attempted to open he door. The husband removed the handle with his toolkit and oiled the lock, still it did not work. Lorenza told us it was the lock that was broken, she called the owner and told her again that we could not enter. We were told by Lorenza that The owner and her husband would attend in an hour.

Over an hour later they arrived. The owner's husband could not open the door immediately but with force opened it on the second attempt. By this time we had waited over 3hrs outside (9.00p.m). No apologies were made instead the owner stormed around the apartment and began to shout at us that it was our fault for not taking two keys with us, one for the front door and one for the back, incase the front door broke!? Her husband adjusted the handle and tightened it with a tool kit, meanwhile the owner claimed there was nothing wrong with the door. We listed all of the people who had tried the door in her absence but she kept shouting that there was nothing wrong with the door.

Finally, she demanded that we pay her €15 for her inconvenience. We refused to pay and she said she would be contacting agent to hold our deposit.

Further the villa was not entirely clean- in particular the bathroom fridge. (We have photos to support). The Aircon on top floor was leaking water significantly and could not be used. There was also not enough hot water for two people to have a warm shower in a row.

On a lesser note, no hand soap provided in bathroom the Hairdryer was useless. The bedside tables are plastic containers (?) and there are no sun loungers as shown on website photos, only old deckchairs.

We are regular travellers. We have stayed in Italy before, visiting the Lakes, Venice, Verona, Florence, Rome and the Amalfi Coast. Never have we encountered such rude and aggressive behaviour by a landlord or hotel owner. We would not recommend this property if you come to Riomaggiore.

Wonderful! As a group of 4 friends, this apt was perfect! We spent most of our time on the terrace which was the perfect size to lounge, eat and enjoy the lovely water view. The apt was clean and has a modern, sleek design. The many stairs to get to the apt were good exercise!!! It was all part of the experience! Great spot in the right village for us!!!

Separaat huren garage is noodzakelijk.

April\/ mei of het vroege najaar lijken me veel aantrekkelijker.
