Southwestern Colorado Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Remodeled cabin on two lots with wonderful views of Lost Valley

Remodeled cabin on two lots with wonderful views of Lost Valley and the San Juan’s right at the base of Pagosa Peak. Nestled amongst fir spruce and aspens this area is surrounded by national forest on all sides. This two-story frame cabin is 1400 square feet with a balcony that looks up at Pagosa The Aspen Chalet is nestled in the woods, you can enjoy the soothing sound of the breeze through the trees. This 2 bedroom house is a delightful and fun. It is a unique cabin with comfortable beds and feather pillows. It is bright and cherry and located 500 yards from National Forest. It overlooks the lake and is a restful world that you can retreat into. It has lovely balconies for sharing a cup of tea or coffee in the morning. There is great hiking in every direction from the chalet. About a mile north of the cabin is a incredible box canyon that explore from the top of the canyon or explore the interior of the canyon. There are waterfalls and high mountain lakes. This charming chalet will leave you relaxed and wanting to stay longer. It is at 9000 ft so has cool refreshing air in the summer; it is a great way to beat the summer heat. The chalet has a washer and dryer, dishwasher, barbeque, and espresso machine, balcony off of master bedroom, electric heat, and potbelly stove upstairs. It has one queen, two twins and futon. It is a great cabin that everyone loves due to its location which is 11 miles north of Pagosa Springs. If you like high mountain air and need a place to get away from the heat this will do the trick. Town is close enough so if you want to go for a meal, visit the hot springs, go boating on the river or fishing, it is all very doable yet you are away from it all when you come back to the cabin.

Aspen Chalet is in Lost Valley which is a small settlement, surrounded by national forest at about 9,000 ft elevation at the base of Pagosa Peaks. You have neighbors but they a scattered through the valley in an unobtrusive way.

If you like the Rocky Mountain air, beautiful aspen and fir forests, you may enjoy this little gem of a cabin.

It is close to golfing, deep powder skiing, cross country skiing, and famous hot springs that people travel from all over the world to experience. This area also offers great hiking, biking, rafting, kayaking, world class trout fishing, and water sports of all kinds, balloon rides and horseback rides. The outdoor activities are endless. We are also close to Mesa Verde National Park, Chama railroad and Durango / Silverton narrow gauge.

It is very clean and light, two bedrooms and one bath. Washer, Dryer, Dishwasher, back porch barbeque and porch off of master bedroom, electric heat, potbelly stove upstairs. It has one queen, two twins and futon.

Thanks so much for sharing your house with us. The location is incredible. We loved how comfortable it was and what the area afforded in terms of experiences. It was the best part of our trip. We will be back.

Great and welcoming place

  • 4 of 5

This was a really nice place to stay. It was cute and quaint. We had everything we needed and we were plenty despite the snow storm that had blasted Colorado the previous day. We could get to everything easily within driving distance. The only thing is I would remind anyone coming here in the winter months is that this is Colorado and snow storms do happen so you need to be cognizant of that and plan accordingly with your vehicle. We have a small car and did not think to get chains or cables for it. Needless to say we could not make it up to the top of the street where the house is located because we would slide down every time. Luckily we were able to park at the end of the cul de sac and lug our luggage and ice chests up the street (which is about a football field in length). But if you are prepared that should not be a problem. This place was very comfortable and we would certainly come back, although better prepared.

The place worked great for my "mini mom vacation". Loved the fact that I could bring my dogs along with me. Thanks again!

Cabin in the mountains

  • 3 of 5

This cabin was as advertised although I would probably call it a 2 bedroom as the area down the stairs is more like a common area. It also was really cold 42 when we arrived and it seemed to take about 24 hrs to warm up to 68 degrees. Now it was really cold and there was a snow storm that weekend and the place has beautiful high ceilings which all factors into the difficulty warming up the house. It was clean and there was an adorable labradoodle next door that would greet you whenever he was outside and he would also leave you alone if you asked him!

Great place, tucked away

  • 5 of 5

This is a terrific rental. It's a unique property that is quiet but yet close to downtown Pagosa Springs. It's clean, well maintained and comfortable. I went there for a "guys" weekend, but I would also highly recommend it for families, particularly small children.

great retreat

  • 5 of 5

This was such a great way to get away. We wished we could stay for a week. The cabin is clean comfortable and had everything we needed. The hiking is wonderful, we discovered the box canyon and the waterfall was roaring. Slept really well and will come back.

Be Sure you check the House

  • 2 of 5

I was charged to replace a missing picture from walmart. The house was cold upon arrival and took all day to warm up to 65, I had to bring in a space heater! The drive was blocked by plowed snow. otherwise the 3 nights were as promised.

Owner's Response: There is nothing in the house that is from Walmart as I do not shop at Walmart. It is a lovely house. The customer either destroyed, broke, or took a picture from the house. I charged them $25.00 for the hole they left in the wall and the missing picture. I felt this was a very reasonable generous response. They arrived at a particularly cold time of year and the house in these conditions does take awhile to heat up. Generally it is one to two hours for the house to become comfortable if my lady has not turned on the heat before a guest arrives.
