We love horses, boating, the arts and children. Little Compton is the perfect place to enjoy it all and share with others at Dancing Oaks Farm.
Kathy Wattles purchased this house in 2005
Holly House is on the edge of our horse farm where it overlooks the property and enjoys the view of horses playing or grazing in the fields.
Coming to Holly House takes you away from the frantic pace of every day life. Nature is enjoyed through quiet walks along trails, bike riding and exploring the woodlands, fields and water. Easy living, fresh and quiet. Air Conditioning available though hardly ever necessary as breezes keep the house cool.
The house we stayed in was very well appointed. The biggest drawback was the distance to the beach and small town centre. luckily, there isn't any traffic in LC so it wasn't that big of a deal.
The house was clean, well layed out and relaxing. It was a good deal for us. Enjoyed having the washer and dryer, dishwasher too.
My family and I stayed at this property for a week during the holidays. Upon arrival we were greeted by Kathy on horseback and she gave us a quick tour of the property (which is gorgeous, even in winter!). When we went inside, the house was spotless and she even gave us a Christmas present! I would highly recommend to place to anyone! She was so helpful, she even left a detailed binder giving us locations and ideas of things to do and where to find them! Though it was very private, Kathy made herself available to us and even helped my parents immediately when they accidentally locked themselves out. Overall, we had a fantastic time and would love to stay with Kathy again!!
My family and I rented Holly House and The Cottage by the same owner. Both homes were wonderful! The owners were very accommodating, gracious, warm and welcoming!
The houses' binder provided many details of local spots to eat and shop. This house is very relaxing and accommodated our large group easily. The kitchen was fully equipped to provide easy cooking and cleaning.
We loved the horse farm and easy access to long walks in farm country!
Thank you again, we enjoyed our stay immensely!
First, the owners provided exceptional service and were very helpful and accommodating. Equally as important, the house was 1) very clean 2) well laid out with large bedrooms and bathrooms 3) newly renovated kitchen 4) wonderful family room with new flat screen and super comfortable sitting area for the kids & 5) great outdoor deck area! The house worked perfectly for a family and two additional guests. I would stay here again and probably will next year:)
Holly House is delightful. We could have spent the entire vacation lounging on the deck, listening to the chorus of birds and frogs, savoring the scent of honeysuckle and salt air. But we also did a lot of biking, paddling in Quicksand pond (bring your own canoe or kayak), and visiting the beaches of Little Compton and Westport. We also enjoyed wandering around the property, visiting the horses, and admiring the owner's lovely horse farm.
The house is sensibly laid out and the kitchen is well equipped. With four bedrooms, it could handle a large family -- in our case, it was easy to manage several rounds of visits by the children and grandchildren (having a dishwasher & washer/dryer makes everything so much easier).
The owners were charming and helpful -- they have compiled a notebook with maps, recommendations for local attractions and dining, and a collection of menus (we mostly just bought fresh fish which we cooked on the grill).
Minor quibble: although there is cable TV, there is no radio or stereo -- bring one if that is important.
We had a wonderful vacation at Holly House. The home itself is very well set up and relaxing. Our kids enjoyed being close to the horses. The landscape in Little Compton is unbelievable. We will be back.
