Welcome to River's Bend where you can say good bye to stress and hello to tranquility! Our home is located on a two acre lot directly on the beautiful Coosawattee River in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Leave the hustle and bustle of your everyday life to come and relax in the beauty of God's creation. Play and fish in the river by day, sing campfire songs around the fire pit under the stars and be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the river just outside your door. We know you will love it as much as we do!
There is something for everyone at River's Bend! Outside, you can fish, swim or tube in the river (tubes provided), play a round of horseshoes, roast marshmallows or hotdogs around the fire pit, or relax in the six person hot tub. Inside, you can try your hand at a game of pool, foosball ,ping pong, or cards/boardgames down in the daylight basement. In the great room you can watch TV or a DVD or curl up with a good book by the fireplace. Upstairs in the loft, you can steal away for some quiet time reading or solving jigsaw puzzles.
There is plenty of room for everyone too! On the main level, are two bedrooms and a full bath. The 'River Room' is complete with a queen-sized bed and has french doors leading out to a patio overlooking the river. The 'Bear Room' is furnished with a rustic pine queen-sized bedroom suite with a lodge/bear décor. Upstairs, the huge master suite has a king-size bed and walk-in closet. It also has french doors leading to a private balcony overlooking the river. The master bath is outfitted with two sinks, a jetted tub and a separate shower. All bedrooms have cable TV. In the daylight basement, next to the game room is what we call the 'kids den/bunk room'. It is the perfect place for the kids to relax/sleep, with a reclining sofa and a futon and two sets of sturdy, solid pine bunk-beds. This room is complete with cable TV, DVD/VCR player and full VCR library of kid-appropriate videos. There is a full bath adjacent to this room.
Additional sleeping accommodations are available on two futons in the large loft, providing sleeping arrangements for a total of 14 people. The great room is where everyone gathers with a wide open living, dining, and kitchen area. The living room has two full-size sofas situated around a 55 inch LCD HDTV and a stacked stone fireplace with gas logs. The kitchen is fully stocked and is very nicely appointed with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The gorgeous imported dining table has seating for eight. Two additional persons can dine at the adjacent island/bar. Or you may choose to dine al fresco out on one of the three covered patios listening to the sounds of the river!
Often, we find we can enjoy our stay at River's Bend without ever leaving the house. But there is plenty to do within the neighborhood and nearby. The neighborhood has three pools, tennis courts, and a fishing pond. Nearby, you can rent a boat at the marinas on Carter's Lake or Lake Blue Ridge for fishing, skiing, etc. Horseback riding, white-water rafting, hiking, mountain biking are also available within driving distance. The towns of Ellijay and Blue Ridge have several quaint antique shops and some 'chain' stores and several options for dining.
As you can see, River's Bend is the perfect location to spend a long weekend or a week with your extended family or friends. So try it out for a truly special time. You'll find out why we hate to leave life at the River's Bend!
We are native Floridians keeping busy with our three beautiful children and escaping the Florida heat to head to the mountain river every chance we get.
Debbie Graves purchased this cabin in 2007
Location, location, location! The sounds of the noisy river are soothing to the soul! And Ellijay is a much shorter drive from Florida than other mountain locations.
We love to watch the deer in our own yard-can't get that in the city. Love to fish and tube in the river all day. Take day trips to Carter's lake and sporting clay shooting. But by far the best thing to do - RELAX with family and friends.
Fantastic cabin supplied with everything you might need. Had a great time tubing on the river. The river is a very short walk from the cabin, but you can hear the rushing waters. The steep driveway was scary at first, but we got used to negotiating it. Overall highly recommended.
We had 3 families for Memorial Day Weekend! We never left the cabin, everything that we wanted was right there. The river was beautiful and the teenagers ad a BLAST tubing everyday. At night we enjoyed the bomb fire all together. Thank you for a wonderful relaxing FAMILY WEEKEND!
We had two families for Spring Break from Michigan, 4 adults and 6 children (age 3-10) and we had an awesome experience at River's Bend! The cabin itself is stunning, much better than the pics shown on the site! While it's in a resort community, the resort is huge and this is probably the prime cabin in the whole resort. Right on the river with lots of yard space for the kids, a legit fireplace area set next to the woods, clean and well-functioning hot tub, deer in the backyard, and a perfect setup for multiple families. Three beautifully themed bedrooms for each family to have their own space, plus a kids sleeping space with bunkbeds/futon to give them their own unique area that adjoins the game room. There are decks on every level where you can step out and listen to the sound of the rushing river, overall a very peaceful and relaxing experience. The closest neighbors are through the woods and you don't even notice them, it's secluded within the resort for those seeking privacy. The cabin comes with ability to utilize the resort amenities (indoor/outdoor community pools, mini-golf, tennis, etc...), and this was a nice perk as our kids had a blast in the pool. For those of you that fish, we struck out at the stocked resort pond (we could see tons of fish in there but couldn't lure any of them to bite unfortunately), though I did catch a bass wading in the Coosawattee river just upstream from the cabin (no trout in that stretch from what I understand). Families would have an easy time tubing this river when it warms up, was a bit chilly in early April for us to brave that though we did see kayakers and rafters out there. The best part about this place is the great value, as there is no up-sell from the advertised price for additional occupants, which can significantly change the price of other listings if you have a good sized group. Overall an excellent experience, and should we find ourselves again in northern Georgia this would be a must-stop for us!
The 3 family all had a great time. Wonderful cabin. Just perfect for several family or one big old crowd. The river was amazing loved listining to it all night long.
My husband and I took our student ministry group to River's Bend for a retreat. This cabin was perfect. There was plenty of room to meet as a group as well as spots for each to spend some quiet time alone. The kitchen had pots and pans large enough to cook for a large group. The boys slept downstairs (2 sets of bunk beds, futon, couch). The girls slept in the two main floor bedrooms, sleeper sofa in the living room, and two futons in the loft. We took the master bedroom (which was large enough for air mattresses or a crib if you have young children). The driveway is steep and might be a problem in the winter, but we didn't have trouble in our 15 passenger van. There were several large tubes and, at the property manager's suggestion, we brought ropes to tie them off. The only problem we had was running out of toilet paper, but a quick trip to Dollar General took care of that.
We've used VRBO to rent properties for several years and, I must say, I've never worked with a friendlier owner or property manager. Paige (the manager) quickly answered all questions I had and made suggestions to help us prepare for our trip. She even allowed me to give her cell number as an emergency contact for our group's parents (which was reassuring to them). Our trip went so well that I wanted to write this review and thank her before I got busy and forgot.
We went down to Ellijay for a birthday party weekend for our daughter and a friend, and I can not brag enough about this property. The setting is great. I even had to wait for a doe to move along before I opened the car door one evening in fear that I might startle her. The home is designed well. The basement houses all kinds of games (Pool, air hockey, ping pong) as well as 2 twin bunks (sleeps 4), a futon, and a couch. The main floor has a great room, kitchen, dining area and two bedrooms. The upper floor has the master and a loft. The water was a little cold (beginning of May) so we didn't tube, but the location is PERFECT for tubing. I can't say enough good about the property. The ONLY negative was that we found a couple bugs. I'm sure they haven't sprayed yet being so close to the beginning of the season. Everything else was perfect. Thank you for the use of your cabin.
