Hello, I stayed in this property for 74 day, and multiple issues with this property, and their owners. The very first communication that I had with the property owner was about how many stairs are there and I let them know that I've joints issues and coming there for sunshine and to be able to move around. I also, mentioned that " the last thing I need to be trapped in the house". The owners failed to tell me how hard was to walk to their house. The house is on the top of the hill with a very steep and unusual driveway and it's hard to drive on the driveway without a four wheel drive. I tried to order an Uber taxi couple time online, but the Uber cancelled my ride after the noticed the location. Also, the owners mentioned that there was multiple things with walking distance, but they didn't mention how hard was to walk around the neighborhood. I tired to walk couple times in the neighborhood and after 20 minutes of walking my smart watch showed 11 floors. This property was not write for the person with joints and back problems and I which Ron and Sandra had told me that when I inquire about the property.
I would recommend Ron and Sandra to repair the plumbing in the shower and add a toilet set cover. I had to cover the shower drainage with a plastic bag, but the smell was unbearable and very unsanitary, cue to all the bacteria coming from the plumbing that was not done properly.
I didn't appreciate how Ron and Sandra keep telling me about their financial problems and how they live on their
Social Security paycheck from the first day I entered their property.
I appreciated Ron and Sandra giving me ride whenever they went to town for grocery and for daily walk, but again it would been better if they told me how hard it will be for unhealthy person to get around their property.
On last day of stay, Sandra told me she has noticed 3 of the floor tiles were cracked since I moved in, but the cracks are very old and from the house settling. It seemed to me that Sandra is trying to make some money from their old tiles as well.
Overall, this property will be good for someone with a car or healthy enough whom wants to hike. Otherwise, it will be very hard to get around, and very expensive to find a ride.
Before Azita booked her stay with us, we had many lengthy communications with her about our property, the area, and what to expect. We advised her that we lived in a mountainous area at 4,500 ft., in a coffee producing area. We informed her that the date she was booking was the heart of heavy rainy season in CR. Azita never advised us that she was in poor physical health, she asked only how many steps there were to the second story apartment because she had “bad knees”. We had no idea she suffered from a total body joint disorder until she arrived. After her arrival we went out of our way to make her stay comfortable, including her in everything we did socially and everywhere we went, including the grocery store and finding her a local cosmetic dermatologist. We discussed many things during her stay in the course of a friendly conversation, including living on Social Security, like many older people do.
We suggested that she rent a car but she advised us it was too expensive and assured us she could take public transportation which was available at the bottom of our concrete driveway. I believe she used the bus 2 or 3 times and a taxi 2 or 3 times in 74 days. The rest of the time we were her vacation transportation at no cost to her, including gas. Contrary to Azita's statement, our driveway is accessible to all automobiles, 2x4 and 4x4 wheel drive. Azita went hiking with us on a daily basis up in the mountains and seemed to have no problem navigating challenging climbs, yet she claims she couldn’t walk to anyplace locally.
The apartment and its tile are only 2 years old. When she checked in, the tiles were intact. When she left, there were 4 cracked tiles, which had to be from something heavy being dropped.
In the over two years that we have been hosting we have never had the plumbing problem that Azita describes. However, during our heavy rainy season, homes in this rural area all have septic tanks and it is possible she may have been bothered by a slight odor. We did what we could to eliminate the problem but didn’t want to bring in construction people during her stay. We have since rectified the problem.
We have nothing but positive reviews from everyone of our former guests on VRBO. We would advise Azita to do her due diligence before booking a stay anywhere.
We wish happy trails to Azita wherever she travels.
What a great view!
Ron and Sondra’s is a class apart from what you will experience in Costa Rica. They take as good care of you as they do themselves We have been staying in Costa Rica off and on for six months ...most rentals are run by a management company hired by owners who show up once a year. Sometimes the management company fixes that leaking fridge sometimes they won’t. Whereas Ron is there in a heartbeat and is Mr Handyman Express competent.. Loved the five star quality US import-comfy bed and furniture. On top of that Ron and Sondra are super responsive and can fill you in on anything you need, want or are interested in doing.
And that is not even the best part, which is the view the sunsets on the delightful deck that overlooks the valley. We stayed for five weeks and enjoyed the San Luis community, Isabels restaurant and people we met. Sarchi and Grecia are six kilometers away for grocers and good restaurants.
We came in January but an FYI there still were Christmas winds that swirl around at night up into February at least during our stay . Also to access the house use second gear.
Ron And Sondra are helpful, humorous and considerate hosts. Other places charge twice as much for half as nice. Just book it.
