Guestbook comments from the manager

We have wintered at 106 Jordan Lane for the past several years, and enjoyed every moment of our stays. The house is open and sunlit, with a friendly decor, and overall a wonderfully inviting place. The wrap around porch is a great place to sit and chat or contemplate a day well spent on the island while watching a sunset. The neighborhood is tree-filled and quiet. It is located near the beach and the village, both a moderate walk or an easy bike ride away.

Saint Simons Island is a remarkably fun and relaxing place to visit, especially for adults and families who wish to avoid the usual mega-tourist places. It has great restaurants, bars, friendly beaches, opportunities for hiking, biking, golf and other outdoor activities. We have given thought to spending winter elsewhere, but honestly cannot think of a better home and place to be.

Our stay at the Jordan Lane house was what we where looking for. It is a bright ,quiet and relaxing. It is big enough that we had friends over who also where at St Simon at the time for a social event but at the same time was just right for the two of us . It has a nice outside porch to sit outside and read. The kitchen had everything we need to cook some of the islands fresh seafood and to entertain others for dinner.

Everything you could want in a quiet, vacation getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for us. It's quiet location was a number one priority for us and we were not disappointed. The house was exactly as described and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The porch was lovely for relaxing and reading. We rented bikes so we often left our car parked under the car port which was nice. We have only two minor suggestions. Some type of window treatment on the entry doors. We 'rigged' up a curtain each night but that was a hassle. It seemed strange that all other windows had blinds or curtains but not the one that would allow the neighbors to watch your every move at night as those doors look directly into the living room and bedroom hallway. The second suggestion would be a printed out listing of the T.V. channels and/or guide on how to use the T.V. We loved this house so much we are booking for next year! To prove that, we bought beach chairs, towels and a beach bag and LEFT them there at the house hoping to be able to use them ourselves again. In the meantime, we hope others will enjoy them :)

Nice house on a quite street

  • 4 of 5

House was very spacious and we loved the lay out. On a very quite "no outlet" street. Not too far a walk to K&P beach access and village. Kitchen was fully equipped. We loved the idea of the amenities offered outside the house however though we were very pleased with the inside the outside needs a little TLC. Nothing a little pressure washing wouldn't take care of. The grilling area chairs were very dirty so we choose actually to not even use the backyard the whole visit. Loved the rocking chairs on the wrap around front porch and used them every single night BUT had to be on alert. SPIDERS were everywhere!!! We are aware that in that climate it is not unusual for spiders to be hanging around but this was a extreme amount. We even killed a few inside. We all loved the idea of the great looking outdoor shower and had plans of using it in the beginning but became to paranoid of having little 8 legged friends joining us so we choose not to. That was a shame. Let me repeat we loved the house and the street which it is located and visit SSI at least twice a year and have stayed a lot of places and this one could be on top of list with just minimal improvements. We would love to use this house again if we were aware that it has been treated for the little squatters or winter time stays. Only other suggestion I would recommend would be...though the ferns on front of the house are gorgeous they are humongous and too big for the space and block view of street. Moved one on each side of porch would help add to privacy and block left and right neighbors view into porch area. Maybe smaller ferns on front. LOVE the ummmm unique tree in drive way!! Made for fun interesting conversation while rocking at night. Thanks for sharing this great house!

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed your stay. We are proud to be under contract with Hodnett Cooper Vacation Rentals as our property manager (recently awarded "Best Of" readers' poll by Elegant Island Living Magazine) because they always respond immediately to any guest request for maintenance. Their contact information is displayed prominently in the house. As soon as I read your review I called Hodnett Cooper and arranged to have the outdoor chairs and shower hosed off. This has been made part of our routine cleaning after each guest checks out. Also, we contacted Allgood Pest Control, who services our home throughout the year, to treat the outdoor shower and home interior for spiders. I hope you will return to Terrapin Station and remember that a on-site solution to any guest concern is only a phone call away.

Charming, Spacious, Well-Maintained Home for Excellent Price

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in this house in SSI a few weeks ago. We've used VRBO for the last 3 of our vacations, and this was our favorite house. The owners have done a great job keeping it up and we practically lived on the front porch. Many times, we find ourselves crammed into small common areas, but this was great for the 5 of us to spread out and enjoy each other's company without crowding. If you're looking for something closer to the village, don't be intimidated by the 1 mile distance. It's a very pleasant walk with a wide sidewalk the whole way and it was a great way to work off all the good food we ate while we were there.

The owners even left a fresh vase of flowers on the dining table, which was such a delightful touch.
