About Lauren Andersen
My family has owned this farm for 30 years. Solbakken is Danish for "sunny slope" and the farm is named after my late husband's parent's estate in Denmark. We have loved gardening, swimming, hiking, and entertaining here and hope that your family and friends will also enjoy Solbakken.
Lauren Andersen purchased this Estate in 1988
Why Lauren Andersen chose Stewartstown
We fell in love with the rolling hills of Southern York County. Our slopes mean that farmers contour their crops around the hillsides, making the farms beautiful to see as you ride around the small country roads.
What makes this Estate unique
Solbakken is a place to get away from your busy life -- enjoy leisurely rocking in a hammock under the birch trees between the ponds; enjoy watching deer come to feed in the field; enjoy visiting the neighborhood winery and having a glass of wine on the deck; enjoy swimming in the pond or fishing in the pond or wading in the stream, or just sit and listen to the birds or watch the stars from the hot tub. Relax and remember what life is meant to be.

We had the most amazing stay in your beautiful farmhouse. The house was perfect for our group of extended family who were in town for a wedding. The house had everything we could have needed. We loved all the bedrooms having their own bathroom, the grounds were perfect for wandering about, and there was plenty of room for us to sit around and have our own space. Lauren was a great host and very easy to communicate with. Would be more than happy to stay here again. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!!
Magical, beautiful spot
This could not have been a better place. My family and by 2 brothers and their families stayed here ( 10 people). It was lovely to have 5 bedrooms and 5 baths. The kitchen is wonderful with everything you could ever ever need. The sitting room looking out on the beautiful property was perfect BUT the best is the property. You get to look out at very well maintained rolling hills, 2 ponds, bee garden and there are places to sit everywhere with a different view. My boys thoroughly enjoyed fishing in the ponds ( 2) We put together my daughters wedding flowers in the summer kitchen. If you get a chance to go, do it!
Great place for our Siblings Reunion
The house was beautiful, and so well appointed for all our needs, starting with being handicapped accessible for my husband in a wheelchair. The kitchen was fantastic with every sort of utensil, pans/pots, spices and a generous size for several people to be working together. Beds very comfortable, curbless shower in master bath also appreciated by my husband. We swam in the pond, warmed up in the hot tub, and hiked the lovely property, especially enjoying the old farm buildings and large areas Lauren planted with wildflowers. Lauren stopped by and answered our many questions, also she was very helpful from day one when we were deciding to arrange the booking. We saw deer, birds and one raccoon (far off from the house) and generally enjoyed the tranquility. For 4 days we managed to leave the TV off, putting that stress aside and just enjoy each other, none of the 4 couples live in the same state so it was wonderful to be together. Can't think of a single thing to complain about this vacation spot and would highly recommend it. Just wish we could have stayed longer.
Thank you for your review Karen. It was so nice to meet you and your family. I don’t often get to meet my guests. I am so glad you enjoyed the farm. Please come again.
Lovely Country visit
We stayed at Lauren's place this past weekend and had a fantastic and relaxing time. The house is beautiful, comfortable and had plenty of space for the 7 of us. The yard is absolutely gorgeous and has so many nice places to walk and sit. We didn't take full advantage of it but will be back in the fall or winter. I've have not seen so many butterflies! It was the perfect get away for city dwellers. Lauren was a great host- responsive but conscious that we were on vacation. Check in was easy. The kitchen is gorgeous and the house is just SO charming.
We first stayed at this property last year. We were blown away by the beauty of the property and the charm of the house. When we determined we were going to get married in the area, we reached out to see if we could host our wedding there. It was a stunning setting and all the guests raved about it. The weekend was filled with family roaming the gorgeous grounds, fishing, playing yard games, rope swinging, etc. Guests have even shared the property on social media their friends and family could have an opportunity to enjoy it themselves! We plan to return for years to come.
Thank you Tiffany. I’m so glad your wedding weekend was a success and you family enjoyed the farm. I wish you many years of happiness.
Paradise in the country
Exceptionally beautiful and well equipped property with so much to do on the grounds that there was little need to go out. The area is also very attractive, and there are lots of things to do within a short radius.
