Click Satellite to see the map below Tim grew up in Grand Cayman. His Mom was a Caymanian whose ancestral family have been in the island since its earliest settlement. Tonya was born in Texas and also lived in Illinois, North Carolina, and back in Texas before marrying the island boy and moving to the islands.
They and their two youngest sons now live in Governor's Harbour, in the West Bay district of Grand Cayman. In September 2008 Tim took early retirement after 35 years with Cable & Wireless (a full-service telecommunication company). For his last 10 years with the company Tim was its Chief Executive for the Cayman Islands.
Tim & Tonya presently both work in the tourism industry. Tim works at Cayman Turtle Farm: Island Wildlife Encounter, which is Cayman's most popular land-based visitor attraction, and Tonya works at the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman, recognized as the premier hotel in the Cayman Islands.
Tim & Tonya are certified SCUBA divers and enjoy occasional dives around the island. They recently learned paddle boarding, another relaxing way to enjoy Cayman's beautiful waterscapes. On Sunday mornings Tim & Tonya attend First Baptist Church, where they are active members.
Tim & Tonya enjoy the occasional "long-weekend" opportunities to 'kotch' for a few more wonderful days at their favourite island retreat, and when they are not using it they make it available for vacation rentals.
Tim Adam purchased this townhome in 2006
Over the Easter holidays of several years, Tim & Tonya and their youngsters went camping at the public beach near the Kaibo, in the Rum Point area, in keeping with a popular local 'tradition.' They brought their powerboat so that they could go into the North Sound to do some fishing, snorkeling or other water sports. During some other holiday periods they would get together with relatives and rent a condo in the Rum Point / Cayman Kai area. On those occasions they found it felt like they were on a different island - enjoying a charming, relaxing Caribbean vacation experience far away from the cares of everyday life on the busy west side of Grand Cayman. Tonya spotted a real estate ad for a vacation home in the Island Houses right across the street from Rum Point Club, they went and took a look ... and discovered their new island retreat they named Kai Kotch!
Most of all Tim & Tonya enjoy the tranquility of the Sand Pointe Cove area and the secluded beach and pool in front of the Island Houses complex, with the opportunity to just relax and enjoy the 'inside-outside' open feeling of Kai Kotch. In the mornings when they are there, they often go for a paddle in the 2-person kayak, or for a bike ride to the other 'cays' of the Cayman Kai community. Sometimes they go for a ride on the paddle boat (when the kids let them have a turn!) and sometimes on dark nights they take a kayak ride to see once again the amazing bioluminescence in the cove.
The Island Houses complex has a dock that makes boat use convenient.
Kai Kotch guests also enjoy the convenience of Rum Point Club being just a few steps away right across the street, with a very lively beach bar and grill, and a delightful fine dining restaurant for special evenings. For young kids and “first-time” swimmers, the Rum Point beach is superior to any other on the island because its slope is so gradual it makes it perfect for wading, and usually there's not much wave action there. Some of the best snorkeling from shore is available in this area. The snorkeling route from the Rum Point public beach to the Rum Point Club is one of the most talked-about snorkeling routes on the island, and there is great snorkeling just off the Rum Point Club beach.
There is also a tennis court a short distance away, with weekly memberships available through the property management company that takes care of Kai Kotch.

Our vacation was a delight. The property was well maintained and, as advertised, well stocked. We used the bicycles, kayaks and snorkeling equipment. There are also two paddleboards, but we were unable to find the paddle. The kitchen also was well provisioned, and we were able to prepare a couple of meals a day without missing any of the kitchen amenities of home. We had a slight misunderstanding with the management company on our arrival time, but the owner stopped by to apologize and presented us with a chilled bottle of wine. Very considerate.
This was our first stay at Rum Point and we were not disappointed. We were looking for a quiet and relaxing break and Rum Point fit the bill. Every morning we kayaked about 45 minutes to Kai Kaibo for espresso and pastries and then paddled back. We were blessed with good weather and nice sunsets. We would recommend the property without reservation and hope to return in the future.
This was one of the best Christmas trips we have taken. When we arrived at Kai Kotch, we found a Christmas card and a welcome gift waiting for us. The house and location were great. We really enjoyed our neighbors in our little community. We met several at our pool... from Michigan....New York... Texas Turns out our neighbors from Texas... one was a Track Coach for the University of Texas... given my sister is a huge Longhorn fan, we had a great time with them.
The house....... beautiful and well equipped... it had most everything you could need . Most of our awake time was spent in the screened in porch just relaxing and listening to the wind blow through the trees. I was amazed on the only afternoon where the sky seemed to open up with a downpour and high winds, we stayed nice and dry in our favorite area.
We initially rented Kai Kotch for its proximity to Rum Point. It was nice to walk across the street for our two excursions and the night time walk out to the pier to see the young tarpon (some 4ft long) hanging around the lights, but it was a little too commercialized for us ( drinks were pricey too). The best use for this location was to load up the rolling cooler (provided at Kai Kotch :) ) and drive down the street to Star Fish point. there is a vacant lot you can park and walk the 100-200 meters to the point. it was great to mix with the various tours that ran in and out of there and enjoy the music, people watching, and enjoy your own self-brought bargain drinks! We ended up visiting several times during our trip... one of our favorite places . On the last visit, my son brought his hammock and tied it to two coconut tree on the beach..... talk about your Caribbean dream.
Though Cayman Kai is a ways out, we came to enjoy the piece and quiet and the slower way of life. I can see how people are attracted to move to this beautiful island.
As our children have gotten older (18 and 15), we have made the effort to switch from simply material gifts to more creating experiences that would last. This was one I feel we could continue to treasure and recall as years go by........
My wife and I spent 16 days at this great place. Left kicking and screaming. Could kayak, snorkel, and bike without getting in the car to drive any where. The place was more than expected. The screened in patio was a life saver in the evening when the bugs came out. The owner and management company were great to work this. Had a issue with the blender and coffee maker. The management company immediately took care of the problem. Got to meet and talk to the owners, great people to deal with. Perfect location. Great near by restaurants. Would eat out one night, cook the next. The unit had everything we needed. the unit was clean and everything in it was up scale. With a washer/ dryer don't need to bring a lot of clothes. First place we have stayed in that had so many beach towels. There was just the two of us, but the layout was great for two couples. Went to Seven Mile Beach to say we been there. Spent 15 minutes on it and left. Headed back to the peace and quit of the unit. Used the kayaks and bikes every day. Great add on. Rent a car. We rented from Andy's, would rent from them again. Got a flat tire one evening coming back from dinner. Was dark and about 6 miles from unit. Had to drive back on the flat tire. Ruined the tire and rim. Called Andy's next morning, they had a new car out to use in an hour. Trying to figure out how to fit a trip back here next year. Can't say enough good about the owners and unit.
Kai Kotch was everything we were hoping for in our Grand Cayman vacation. Our family of 4 (9 year old daughter and 6 year old son) loved the house and its location. Rum Point beach was about 75 yards from the house and the snorkeling was great. The kayaks that came with the unit practically paid for a free nights stay when compared against the available nightime kayak tours. Some recommended restaurants include Tukka towards the East End, Kurts Kitchen (non-traditional location on the way to Bowden Town but great local food) and Rackams in Georgetown.
Tim, the owner of Kai Koch, was a pleasure to work with. Very easy and accomodating. We had a slight issue with the coffee maker and it was addressed promptly. The overall management of the unit was outstanding.
We definately recommend Kai Kotch and look forward to coming back for snorkeling at Eden Rock and over the Wreck of the Cali.
For our return trip to Grand Cayman, we chose to stay in the Rum Point area to avoid Seven Mile Beach. Our "island house" Kai Kotch, was attractive, well-kept and super-conveniently located. We loved that we had use of kayaks to paddle over the bioluminescense in the lagoon right in our backyard! Two evenings out were high points for us and our 20-year-olds. We enjoyed morning bike rides around the neighborhood (two more bikes would have been nice). And we could stroll just across the street to Rum Point. The screened-in lanai is a perfect place to eat meals or play games. Our daughters also enjoyed the community pool, although it was mostly frequented by parents and young children. It was great just to relax, read a book and look out at the beautiful lagoon. We would definitely rent Kai Kotch if/when we return to Grand Cayman.
We were looking for a relaxing place to stay as a family with 3 teenagers. We rented a big car thinking in a week full of traveling and exploring. Finding this place so peaceful and beautiful, our children did not want to leave Rum Point and we stayed there the whole time, just swimming, snorkeling and enjoying every night the bioluminescence on the cove with the kayaks . My husband drove 3 minutes every morning to fish at the star fish beach, which we also loved. We booked a trip on a boat starting at Rum Point to see the stingray city just 13 minutes away. Highly recommend this as well.
The place was big enough to rest and enjoy our time as a family. The owner was very nice and helpful with all the information and details we needed. The house was equipped with lots of snorkeling gear, we had brought our own, but if you do not have one, you will find more than enough. The grocery store is 20 minutes away and it is very small. If you rent a car it is easier to stop at the big grocery store close to the airport and buy your food there. The restaurant at Rum Point is excellent but the prices are high for a big family to eat there every night. This was our best beach vacation ever and we hope to come back in the future.
Sand Pointe Cove is one of only a few bodies of water in the world that have such intense bioluminescence which is especially spectacular on moonless nights. You can check this out for yourself on a night-time cruise on our paddle boat or kayak fleet!
A wide range of watersports and beach activities are available at the Rum Point Club a few steps away from Kai Kotch (just across the street). There is also great snorkeling with lots of marine life around the coral shoals in crystal-clear waters of the North Sound just off the Rum Point Beach.
The Crystal Caves, Botanic Park and the Mastic Trail are just a few minutes’ drive away. Each of these sites offer “up close & personal” enjoyment of Cayman’s native flora and fauna for visitors interested in the natural environment on land.
Approximately 47 minutes driving time (in normal traffic) from Owen Roberts International Airport, airline city code GCM, which is Grand Cayman's international airport.

Water Cay Road, Rum Point
Either way, it displays the route to the middle of Water Cay Road which basically runs north to south. Kai Kotch is near the northern end of that road. (The southern end of that road is near Kaibo Beach Bar & Grill.) If you zoom in on Google Maps, you will see that our backyard is the amazing "Bio-luminescent Bay"!
